Abstract

Background : The Curcuma genus has various pharmacological activities, one of these is antithrombotic activity by preventing thrombus formation. Some of its chemical contents are also known to inhibit thrombus formation including curcumin, bisdemethoxycurcumin, ar-turmerone, and xanthorrizhol compounds. Antithrombotic drugs are used for the prevention and treatment of thrombosis whose mechanisms are divided into anticoagulants, thrombolytics, and antiplatelets. Objective: This review article discusses the potential of Curcuma genus as antithrombotic, including anticoagulant, antiplatelet, and thrombolytic, Methods: This study was conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) method using four databases : PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus, and Google Scholar from July to December 2023. The inclusion criteria used were articles on antithrombotic activity, including anticoagulants, antiplatelets, and thrombolytics from the genus Curcuma. Results: The number of articles obtained from four databases was 3413 articles. Furthermore, based on the results of filtering duplicate articles from all databases, 2771 articles were selected and then continued with screening based on inclusion and exclusion criteria until 15 articles were selected as material for systematic review. Conclusion: Curcuma species that have potential as antithrombotic are Curcuma longa, Curcuma zedoaria Rosc., Curcuma amada, Curcuma caesia, Curcuma aeruginosa, Curcuma latifolia, Curcuma aromatica Salisb, Curcuma wenyujin, and Curcuma xanthorrhiza

Abstract

Plants are the main source of secondary metabolites that have important biological potential. This study aims to screen the phytochemicals of green tea leaves and black pepper to identify the classes of active compounds contained within them. Extraction was performed using the maceration method with 96% ethanol over three days, followed by qualitative phytochemical testing (alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, triterpenoids, steroids, polyphenols, and anthraquinones). Green tea leaves contain alkaloids, triterpenoids, flavonoids, polyphenols, and anthraquinones. Black pepper contains alkaloids, saponins, triterpenoids, steroids, and flavonoids, but does not contain polyphenols, tannins, or anthraquinones. The differences in the composition of active compounds indicate distinct therapeutic potentials in the two plants and support their use as natural medicinal ingredients.

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan negara beriklim tropis dengan suhu tinggi dan kelembapan rendah, yang menyebabkan tubuh mengeluarkan keringat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi konsentrasi ekstrak daun anting-anting (10%, 20%, 30%) terhadap karakteristik fisik sediaan deodoran spray, meliputi organoleptik, pH, homogenitas, pola semprot, waktu kering, stabilitas, viskositas, uji hedonik, dan aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus epidermidis. Penelitian menggunakan desain eksperimental dengan tiga formula: F1 (10%), F2 (20%), dan F3 (30%). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa seluruh sediaan berbentuk cair dengan warna dan aroma yang bervariasi: F1 berwarna coklat muda beraroma lavender, F2 coklat beraroma lavender, dan F3 coklat tua dengan aroma khas anting-anting. Semua formula memiliki pH 5, sesuai standar, dan terdapat perbedaan signifikan (p = 0.010). Sediaan homogen, tanpa partikel kasar atau endapan. Pola semprot rata-rata 6 cm, waktu kering 47 detik, dan stabilitas baik. Viskositas memenuhi kriteria (56,30 ± 1,51 cps; p = 0.015). Uji hedonik menunjukkan formula F2 paling disukai oleh 30 responden berdasarkan aroma, warna, dan tekstur. Sementara itu, F3 (30%) menunjukkan aktivitas antibakteri yang paling kuat terhadap S. epidermidis.
