Abstract

SMA X, located in Yogyakarta, is committed to providing quality education to its students, the majority of whom come from outside Java, particularly from Eastern Indonesia. In addition to its educational responsibilities, SMA X faces challenges such as students from broken homes, economic and social issues, and a lack of teachers skilled in counseling and handling students with personal issues. These challenges negatively impact students' academic performance. The Community Service Team conducted teachers training on self-regulated learning teaching strategies and basic counseling focusing on emotion regulation strategies. Workshops, group discussions, and practical exercises were employed during the training, and significantly improving teachers' cognitive understanding, with average scores increasing from 46.9 to 70.3. Behaviorally, some teachers began implementing strategies such as offering task choices to enhance student motivation and teaching students to plan and monitor their task completion processes. Continuous evaluation and mentoring are ongoing to ensure the optimal implementation of the training material. Additionally, SMA X has been designated as a mentored school to more effectively address its challenges.

Abstract

The Male Role Norms Inventory-Short Form (MRNI-SF) scale is a widely used international scale for measuring traditional masculinity ideaology. Recently, it has begun to be utilized in Indonesia, where significant gender disparities in access to education and employment persist. Despite its increasing use, there is a notable lack of research specifically addressing the psychometric properties of the Indonesian adaptation of the MRNI-SF. This study aims to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of the MRNI-SF. Data were collected from a total of 346 student participants at various universities in Indonesia and analyzed using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EF) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The indicates that the Indonesian version of the MRNI-SF Scale accurately and reliably measure traditional masculinity ideology within the Indonesian context. Furthermore, the results show a high degree of similarity between the Indonesian version and the original scale.

Abstract

For the past three decades, self-regulated learning (SRL) has been a key focus in educational psychology, with both parenting and teaching strategies playing crucial roles. This study aims to examine the role of Helicopter Parenting (HP) on Indonesian college students’ SRL.Sampling was conducted using a non-probability approach, specifically employing a convenience sampling technique. A survey method was used to measure the perceptions of 256 Indonesian college students regarding their parents’ parenting profiles using the Helicopter Parenting Instrument – Short Version (HPI-S) and their SRL using the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ). The results indicate that HP significantly contributes to the development of SRL among Indonesian college students. This finding contradicts most previous studies. However, further analysis suggests that a significant portion of SRL variability remains unexplained by HP and may be influenced by other factors. Culture emerges as a crucial factor deserving attention and is discussed as a key influence on the outcomes of this research.
