Abstract

This research aims to understand in depth about mathematics and how teaching aids in learning, especially in mathematics subjects, help students understand abstract mathematical concepts. The literature study method (qualitative approach) in this research was also used for the ability to obtain information from various sources related to mathematics learning theory, the benefits of using teaching aids, and so on. This research also briefly explains how behaviorism, cognitivism and constructivism can enable students to build their understanding by increasing motivation by teachers and ensuring that the teaching aids used are effective both over time and in the learning process.

Abstract

Community Service Program (KKN) is a form of student community service by directly applying scientific knowledge in the field. The 2025 Unimed KKN was conducted in Durin Simbelang Village, Pancur Batu District, Deli Serdang Regency, with the aim of empowering local potential and improving the quality of education, social, and environmental aspects of the village. This research used a qualitative descriptive approach with participatory methods, in which students actively engaged with the community in each program. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and direct participation, then analyzed descriptively through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion. Research findings indicate that the Community Service Program (KKN) has had a significant impact in various aspects. In the economic sector, the downstreaming and marketing of processed starfruit products has successfully improved residents' skills in processing harvested produce into value-added products. In the educational sector, activities such as "Ceria Calistung Ceria," "Si Cerdik Math," "English Fun Club," "Savings for Small Change," "Education for the Creative Economy," and "Wisdom Digital Literacy" have proven effective in improving academic skills, creativity, and positive character traits among the younger generation. In the social and environmental aspects, the "gotong royong" (mutual cooperation) program, rhythmic gymnastics, educational trash signage, volleyball court construction, gate decoration, and 17th August competitions have strengthened social cohesion, raised awareness of healthy living, and increased concern for environmental cleanliness.

Abstract

Pendidikan inklusif menjadi semakin penting dalam konteks pendidikan di Indonesia, terutama untuk mencapai kesetaraan bagi semua siswa, termasuk mereka yang berkebutuhan khusus. Konsep ini bertujuan untuk menciptakan sistem pembelajaran yang terbuka dan ramah bagi setiap individu tanpa pengecualian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi implementasi pendidikan inklusif di Indonesia, serta untuk mengidentifikasi tantangan dan strategi yang dapat digunakan oleh pendidik dalam menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang mendukung bagi semua siswa, termasuk mereka yang memiliki kebutuhan khusus. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi studi literatur. Data dikumpulkan melalui analisis dokumen terkait kebijakan pendidikan inklusif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun ada kemajuan dalam penerapan pendidikan inklusif, masih terdapat tantangan signifikan yang dihadapi oleh pendidik, seperti kurangnya pelatihan dan sumber daya. Namun, dengan kolaborasi antara guru, institusi pendidikan, dan masyarakat, lingkungan belajar yang inklusif dapat tercipta, yang mendukung perkembangan semua siswa

Abstract

This study aims to explore and analyze the challenges students encounter in learning mathematics, particularly in grasping the concepts of cubes and rectangular prisms, through the implementation of the Make a Match learning method. This method was selected due to its potential to enhance students' engagement, participation, and comprehension in the learning process. However, its application still faces several obstacles that hinder effective learning. This research adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing observation, interviews, and diagnostic tests as data collection techniques. The findings indicate that students experience various difficulties, including: (1) differentiating the characteristics of cubes and rectangular prisms, (2) comprehending the concepts and performing calculations related to their volume and surface area, and (3) constructing and accurately illustrating their nets. Several factors contribute to these challenges, such as a lack of fundamental conceptual understanding, difficulty in relating the material to real-life situations, and limitations in spatial visualization skills. The outcomes of this study provide insights for teachers in developing more effective and efficient instructional strategies, including the integration of concrete teaching aids, interactive media, and personalized guidance tailored to students' specific needs. Therefore, optimizing the implementation of the Make a Match method is expected to enhance students' conceptual understanding more effectively.
