Abstract

The word khalifah is a central concept and a fundamental topic in human creation. Understanding this term is crucial to comprehending the essence and role of humanity in contemporary civilization. The aim of this research is to describe the essence of the word caliph, the nature of human civilization, and the reinterpretation of the meaning of caliph towards a new Islamic civilization. The researchers employed a thematic and contextual study of the Khilafah verses. Data collection was carried out through a study of several sources, namely the Al-Qur'an and Al-Hadith as well as several sources from books, articles, websites, etc. Researchers carry out in-depth data analysis and focus on the research objectives so that they can draw conclusions. The results of the research show firstly, the essence of the word caliph is a continuous process starting from fil ardlhi caliph to becoming caliph fil ardlhi. Second, the essence of human civilization is the change and continuity of the caliphate which is sunnatullah. Third, reinterpreting the meaning of khalifah towards a new Islamic civilization can be achieved by emphasizing concepts such as bismillahirrahmanirrahim and alhamdulillahi rabbil alamin. Keywords: Khalifah; Civilization; Reinterpretation; Islam. Abstrak Kata khalifah merupakan konsep sentral dan topik mendasar dalam penciptaan manusia. Memahami istilah ini sangat penting untuk memahami hakikat dan peran manusia dalam peradaban kontemporer. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan hakikat kata khalifah, hakikat peradaban manusia, dan reinterpretasi makna khalifah menuju peradaban Islam baru. Peneliti menggunakan kajian tematik dan kontekstual terhadap ayat-ayat khilafah. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kajian terhadap beberapa sumber, yaitu Al-Qur'an dan Al-Hadits serta beberapa sumber dari buku, artikel, situs web, dan lain-lain. Peneliti melakukan analisis data secara mendalam dan berfokus pada tujuan penelitian sehingga dapat menarik simpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pertama, hakikat kata khalifah merupakan proses yang berkesinambungan mulai dari khalifah fil ardlhi hingga menjadi khalifah fil ardlhi. Kedua, hakikat peradaban manusia adalah perubahan dan keberlanjutan kekhalifahan yang merupakan sunnatullah. Ketiga, reinterpretasi makna khalifah menuju peradaban Islam baru dapat dicapai dengan menekankan konsep-konsep seperti bismillahirrahmanirrahim dan alhamdulillahi rabbil alamin. Abstract

Conflict is one of the problems faced by many organizations, especially non-profit organizations such as educational institutions (schools). School leaders or principals play an important role in managing conflict in order to achieve the vision, mission and goals of the organization. This article aims to describe first, the nature, activities and management of conflict. Second, the nature and role of school principal leadership. Third, conflict management strategies in the leadership of school principals from an Islamic perspective. The research method used is literature study, researchers collect data from various sources, reduce and analyze, and draw conclusions. The research results show that: first, the essence of conflict is differences of opinion, while conflict activities are related to competition, conflict management is carried out through introspection, evaluation, identification, and knowing options. Second, the essence of leadership is influencing, while the principal's leadership role includes as a formal official, manager, leader, supervisor, administrator, educator, and as staff. Third, conflict management strategies in Islamic perspective principal leadership are leadership perspectives and behavior. Keywords: Conflict Management; Leadership; School.   ABSTRAK Konflik adalah salah satu masalah yang dihadapi banyak organisasi khususnya organisasi non-profit seperti lembaga pendidikan (sekolah). Pemimpin atau kepala sekolah berperan penting dalam mengelola konflik agar dapat mencapai visi, misi, dan tujuan organisasi. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendiskripsikan tentang pertama, hakikat, aktivitas dan pengelolaan konflik. Kedua, hakikat dan peran kepemimpinan kepala sekolah. Ketiga, strategi pengelolaan konflik dalam kepemimpinan kepala sekolah perspektif Islam. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi literatur, peneliti melakukan pengumpulan data dari berbagai sumber, mereduksi, dan menganalisis, serta mengambil kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertama, hakikat konflik adalah perbedaan pendapat, sedangkan aktivitas konflik berkenaan dengan kompetisi, pengelolaan konflik dilakukan dengan Introspeksi, evaluasi, identifikasi, dan mengetahui pilihan. Kedua, hakikat kepemimpinan adalah mempengaruhi sedangkan peran kepemimpinan kepala sekolah diantaranya sebagai pejabat formal, manajer, pemimpin, supervisor, administrator, pendidik, dan sebagai staff. Ketiga, strategi pengelolaan konflik dalam kepemimpinan kepala sekolah perspektif Islam diantaranya meliputi cara pandang dan perilaku kepemimpinan. Abstract

Abstract This community-based religious moderation program was conducted around Sumberawan Stupa Temple in Singosari, Malang, as a response to potential conflicts and intolerance in a multireligious area. The program addresses religious diversity (Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Catholic, and local beliefs) and ritual activities at the temple that risk social friction. The primary goal was to enhance public understanding of religious moderation principles, tolerance, and radicalism prevention through participatory methods. Activities included interactive lectures, group discussions, inspirational videos, and conflict resolution simulations. Pre- and post-program questionnaires revealed a 35% increase in participants' understanding (average score rose from 52 to 87). Interviews and observations highlighted heightened awareness of the importance of interfaith dialogue. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16 on peace and justice, the program proved effective in fostering social harmony, though long-term mentorship is required to sustain its impact. Abstrak Program moderasi beragama berbasis komunitas ini dilaksanakan di sekitar Candi Stupa Sumberawan Singosari, Malang, sebagai respon terhadap potensi konflik dan intoleransi di wilayah multireligius. Program ini mengatasi keragaman agama (Islam, Hindu, Buddha, Katolik, dan aliran kepercayaan lokal) serta aktivitas ritual di candi yang berisiko menimbulkan gesekan sosial. Tujuan utama adalah meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat tentang prinsip moderasi beragama, toleransi, dan pencegahan radikalisme melalui pendekatan partisipatif. Kegiatan meliputi ceramah interaktif, diskusi kelompok, penayangan video inspiratif, dan simulasi resolusi konflik. Hasil kuesioner pra- dan pasca-program menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta sebesar 35% (rerata skor naik dari 52 menjadi 87). Wawancara dan observasi mengungkap peningkatan kesadaran akan pentingnya dialog antaragama. Selaras dengan Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) ke-16 tentang perdamaian dan keadilan, program ini efektif membangun kerukunan sosial, meskipun pendampingan jangka panjang diperlukan untuk memastikan keberlanjutan dampak. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the political attitudes of kiai (muslim traditional leader) in Tuban Regency of East Java province, Indonesia, in particular of the reasons why they still maintain the paternalistic tradition and its impact on the teaching tradition in pesantren, as well as their views and roles in the political arena. Using a qualitative research approach, this case study collected data through observation and interviews. Along with the changes and dynamics that occur in society, kiai in the region have various responses on the ongoing political situation. Furthermore, their roles and attitudes can be grouped into (1) parochial kiai (apathy), (2) subject kiai (passive participants), and (3) participant kiai. This study shows that the political culture of kiai in Tuban is diverse and dynamical according to the existing situations.   Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis sikap politik kiai di Kabupaten Tuban, Provinsi Jawa Timur, Indonesia, khususnya mengenai alasan mereka masih mempertahankan tradisi paternalistik dan dampaknya terhadap tradisi pengajaran di pesantren, serta pandangan dan peran mereka dalam kancah politik. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, studi kasus ini mengumpulkan data melalui observasi dan wawancara. Seiring dengan perubahan dan dinamika yang terjadi di masyarakat, kiai di daerah tersebut memiliki berbagai respons terhadap situasi politik yang sedang berlangsung. Lebih lanjut, peran dan sikap mereka dapat dikelompokkan menjadi (1) kiai parokial (apatis), (2) kiai subjek (partisipan pasif), dan (3) kiai partisipan. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa budaya politik kiai di Tuban beragam dan dinamis sesuai dengan situasi yang ada.

Abstract

This article examines the exegetical hybridity in the book Tafsīr Marāḥ Labīd, a Qur’anic commentary authored by the nineteenth-century Javanese scholar Syekh Nawawi al-Bantani. By highlighting the marginalization of Southeast Asian voices in mainstream tafsīr studies, the research demonstrates how Nawawi creatively integrated classical Islamic scholarship from Ottoman-Ḥijāz networks with local Bantenese agrarian ethics. Through textual-historical criticism, comparative hermeneutics, and digital ethnography, the study reveals Nawawi’s systematic method: employing variant recitations (qirāʾāt) to produce context-sensitive legal rulings, filtering non-essential narratives (Isrāʾīliyyāt) to prioritize ethical lessons, and applying maqāṣid pragmatism to address both colonial and social injustices. This hybrid approach transformed Qur’anic exegesis into subtle resistance against Dutch land exploitation while simultaneously promoting communal welfare. Today, Marāḥ Labīd remains a living tradition within Indonesian pesantren, relevant to contemporary issues ranging from environmental stewardship and gender-inclusive ethics to social moderation and pandemic responses. The article underscores Nawawi’s legacy as a decolonial model, demonstrating that Nusantara scholarship has actively and sustainably shaped Islamic intellectual and social landscapes through adaptive fidelity to classical orthodoxy while enabling innovation in modern contexts.

Abstract

This study examines the strategic role of Indonesian Islamic Religious Higher Education (Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam/PTKI) in fostering digital ethics (akhlak digital) among the social media generation. The rapid digitalization in Indonesia has created a paradox: while offering unprecedented connectivity, it also exacerbates moral crises such as the spread of hoaxes, hate speech, and cyberbullying. This research argues that PTKI, with its dual mission of developing intellect and character, is uniquely positioned to address this gap. Through a systematic review and conceptual analysis of relevant literature, this study constructs a framework of akhlak digital by contextualizing classical Islamic ethical values (e.g., shiddiq, amanah) into the digital realm. The findings map PTKI's potential roles across three domains: curricular (integrating ethics into courses), co-curricular (training and campaigns), and institutional (policy and culture). The study also identifies key internal and external challenges to implementation. This research concludes that PTKI must adopt a holistic and multi-strategy approach to effectively build digital character, offering both a theoretical contribution to Islamic education and practical recommendations for educators and policymakers.
