Abstract

This study aims to develop the e-book Basic Physics Fluid Series design assisted by virtual laboratory Tracker Video Analysis (TVA) that effectively improves students' critical thinking skills. The method used in this study is Research and Development. The graphic design developed, including illustrations and visual elements, was identified as necessary for improving critical thinking skills. At the same time, practice questions with varying difficulty levels allowed students to apply knowledge. The validation process, including the Content Validity Ratio (CVR) test, underlined high agreement and validity, with suggestions for improvement, including contextual design, material optimization, interactive elements, accessibility considerations, student feedback collection, and curriculum alignment. The test results showed that learning with this e-book effectively improved students' critical thinking skills. The results obtained in the indicator provided a simple explanation, concluding that it shows a high N-gain value. In contrast, several other indicators show moderate values. This e-book design can be a role model for developing similar media, especially related efforts to improve students' Critical Thinking Skills (CTS).

Abstract

This study aims to identify high school students' numeracy literacy abilities and physics learning that trains numeracy literacy. The study involved 183 students from three high schools (SMAN A, B, and C) in Nganjuk district, along with 9 teachers. Research instruments included a Numeracy Literacy Test and Physics learning response questionnaire, both validated by experts. Results showed that students' literacy skills were high (81.5%), with interpretation and integration scoring highest (90.33%), followed by information finding (77.33%) and evaluation/reflection (77.13%). In numeracy abilities, understanding scored highest (88.47%), followed by application (72.37%) and reasoning (63.9%). The reliability analysis of the research instrument showed a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.87, indicating very good internal consistency in measuring the literacy-numeracy skills of high school students in Nganjuk Regency. This high reliability value provides a strong level of confidence in the research findings, including the average literacy skills (81.5%) and numeracy (78.25%). The overall average numeracy ability was 74.91%, falling in the sufficient category. Common teaching approaches included explanation with example problems, practice questions, and practicals (55%), along with the 5M approach (observe-question-try-analyze-communicate) used often (44.4%) or always (33.3%). Popular learning models included Direct Instruction (55.5%), Cooperative Learning (44.4%), Inquiry (22.2%), Problem-Based Learning (33.3%), and Project-Based Learning (66.6%). Other models included Discovery learning, Cooperative game learning, and differentiated PjBL. In conclusion, students' numeracy literacy ability reached a sufficient level at 78.5%.

Abstract

Abstract

Literacy skills include the ability to utilize various sources to understand information or ideas through listening, reading, and viewing activities, as well as conveying ideas using various media in oral or written form, according to the context. This study aims to improve the quality of education in schools and develop students' soft skills to be better prepared to face the world of work. Through this program, students are able to improve their teaching skills and help improve literacy and numeracy skills. Data acquisition techniques were obtained descriptively quantitatively through interview techniques and a humanistic approach to the Mardi Siwi community in the form of implementing several learning media related to several subjects at the junior high school level. Overall, these data show that most students made positive progress in both Numeracy and Literacy. However, there were also some participants who showed variation in results, with some experiencing significant improvements, while others experienced declines or stability in final results. This shows the importance of adjusting learning strategies to meet the individual needs of students and ensure consistent improvement in all aspects of learning. The total increase in Numeracy was around 56.36%, while the total increase in Literacy was around 36.36%.
