Abstract

The shrimp farming industry is a major pillar in the global fisheries economy, its high demand in the international market is a potential for gaining quick profits. However, the use of intensive cultivation technology by large farmers has been suspected in contributing to environmental damage. In light of this, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries has implemented a sustainable fisheries development program with the goal of overcoming this negative impact, this includes the implementation of Good Aquaculture Practices (GAP) in accordance with Ministerial Regulation Number: PER.19/MEN/2010 concerning quality control and safety of fishery products. The purpose of this study was to analyze key factors in the application of Good Aquaculture Practices to shrimp farming. This study used a mixed method approach. Data were obtained from shrimp pond experts who joined the East Java shrimp entrepreneur community. The data analysis method used was the Matrix of Cross Impact Multiplication Applied to a Classification (MICMAC) structural analysis. The results showed that 2 variables had been shown to be the most influential and became the main drivers in the application of Good Fish Farming Practices management in shrimp farming, these variables are the "Use of Chemicals, Biological Materials, and Fish Medicines (UCBF)" and "Harvest" (HV).

Abstract

Community participation in waste management is very important because the community contributes the largest volume of waste generation. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the quality of the community's role in waste management from the perspective of women's perceptions. Data were obtained from 30 female organization administrators in Dau District, Malang Regency. The data were analyzed by using the ratio between the facts of respondents' answers and the maximum score for the quality of roles with ordinal data scales. The results showed that group roles' quality was highest, discussion attendance was high, physical activity was high, and waste management fees were lowest. This research suggests that public awareness of paying dues needs to be increased by motivating through the 3R partial waste management results to improve public facilities in the village and sub-district areas. Abstract

Culinary has been designated by the Indonesian Tourism Ministry as a Culinary Tourism destination. The determination of culinary as a tourism destination is because of its durability (ability to maintain its business). Culinary Tourism is not affected by any circumstances, including Covid-19 pandemic. Research was conducted in order to identify and develop a strategic model carried out by culinary business owners in process of running their business to survive at least for 30 years. The research began by conducting an inventory of heritage culinary businesses in Malang City according to specified criteria, followed by conducting in-depth interviews with these business owners. The number of respondents were 168 people consisting of: culinary business owners in Malang city who have survived decades and even over generations and the Malang City Government. Analysis of durability of culinary business was based on Corporate Sustainable Longevity (CSL). The analysis results confirm that the CSL of culinary business in Malang City are categorized as low. The research suggestion for culinary business owners is design and implementation of post-crisis recovery and response strategies. Furthermore, other suggestions related to build resilience to deal with the future after crisis and make changes to the business landscape to achieve business sustainability.

Abstract

Today, the goal of sustainable development is a global problem all countries face.  Economic development does not pay attention to the environmental impacts, causing problems that occur today and risk future generations' survival.  Governments in each country are expected to participate actively in achieving sustainable development goals. On the other hand, governments also face problems of poor performance, corruption, collusion, nepotism, and slow public services.  Introducing a merit system is expected to improve the existing system of government. This article discusses the effect of implementing a merit system in realizing sustainable development. This research is located in the city of Malang. The sample comes from the State Civil Apparatus of Malang City Government consisting of structural officials, functional officials, and executive officials, with the Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Square (SEM PLS) analysis method. Results showed that applying the merit system in recruitment and replacement, including mutation and promotion, significantly affects sustainable development. Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems are recognized as vital blue carbon reservoirs that contribute significantly to climate regulation through biomass-based carbon storage. This study assessed mangrove diversity, structure, biomass, and carbon stocks in two key locations: Banyuurip Mangrove Center (BMC) and Lewean Mangrove Park (LMP), located in the Ujungpangkah Estuary, Gresik. Data were collected from 15 rectangular plots (10 × 10 m) to determine species composition, tree density, Importance Value Index (IVI), above and belowground biomass, and estimated carbon stocks using standard allometric equations. A total of 12 mangrove species were identified, with Avicennia marina emerging as the dominant species in all growth stages across both sites. Tree density varied from 100 to 1,600 trees/ha, reflecting stages of regeneration rather than degradation. The highest IVI values were recorded for A. marina (196.3% in BMC; 146% in LMP). Total biomass and estimated carbon stock were higher in BMC (340.48 Mg/ha; 164.87 Mg C/ha) compared to LMP (125.67 Mg/ha; 56.20 Mg C/ha), primarily due to differences in species dominance and stand maturity. These results underline the ecological and climate mitigation significance of maintaining mangrove diversity and biomass. The study supports the integration of mangrove conservation into blue carbon strategies for sustainable coastal management, and recommends strengthening local restoration initiatives based on dominant species performance.

Abstract

Forest ecosystems experience pressure and degradation of environmental services, which is thought to be due to community activities such as land conversion for economic purposes. In previous research at the same location, there was still no calculation of the willingness to pay for environmental services from visiting tourists. Therefore, this research was conducted to determine the value of tourists' willingness to pay, which can be used for the management and development of tourist areas. This research uses CVM (Contingent Valuation Method) to estimate the costs that will be incurred by the community, particularly visitors. The results of research through surveys show that the public's perception of Bedengan Selorejo provides an overview of the most dominant tourist attributes, namely: attractions, accessibility, and amenities. The estimated size of the community's WTP (Willingness To Pay) for the value of the existence of a forest ecosystem is IDR. 450,208,000/month. The recommendation based on the results obtained is that this value can be used for the development and management of the Bedengan Selorejo tourist area in Malang Regency, ensuring that the ecosystem and facilities of this tourist attraction are well-maintained.

Abstract

Introduction: The coffee plantation subsector is one of the most significant subsectors in Wagir District, Malang Regency. Sustainable practices are critical to the success of smallholder coffee crops. This research aims to create a sustainable plan for smallholder coffee crops in Wagir District, Malang Regency. Methods: Twenty farmers and five experts chosen by purposive sampling participated in the study, which was carried out in the Wagir District of Malang Regency. A questionnaire was utilized to interview participants to capture the phenomenon. Data analysis employs a hybrid approach that combines SWOT and AHP. Results: Six strategic priorities are identified by the study findings following the identification of internal and external factors in the SWOT and AHP analyses. Limitations - Second Opportunity (WO2) The most important strategy to be put into practice based on the situation on smallholder coffee plantations in Wagir District is the one with a score of 1.135. Conclusion: To have a more widespread and long-lasting impact, the primary tactic to increase the sustainability of smallholder coffee plantations in Wagir District, Malang Regency, is to work with multi-stakeholders like the local government, academic institutions, and research centers to directly educate the community or serve as resource persons in capacity building for agricultural extension workers.

Abstract

Precision agriculture is a strategy for varying inputs and cultivation methods to suit varying soil conditions and agricultural crops. In order to optimize precision agriculture, wireless sensor network (WSN) is suitable to be integrated. In this research, network devices that communicate using nRF24L01+ based WSN was proposed. As a prototype, four sensor nodes were employed to measure the parameters of air temperature and humidity, soil moisture, and power supply voltage. While, a sink node serves to store measurement data locally. The data are sent to the sink node with a mesh network topology and saved in a comma-separated values (CSV) file and local database. Experimental results show that each sensor node can measure all parameters and successfully send data to the sink node every 1 minute without losing the data. The mesh topology can route data transfer automatically. Round trip time (RTT) of each sensor node depends on the distance from each node. Average power consumption of all sensor nodes in send mode is between 84 mW and 90 mW. Meanwhile, in sleep mode, the sensor nodes 1 and 2 consumed around 21-22 mW and the sensor nodes 3 and 4 consumed around 30 mW which are lower than the send mode.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the impact of irrigation in addressing water scarcity, improving productivity, and increasing farmers' income in Klepek Village, Sukosewu Subdistrict, Bojonegoro Regency. Agriculture productivity is influenced by factors such as the efficient use of resources such as water. The availability of irrigation water is crucial to enhance agricultural productivity. Water scarcity can hinder plant growth, reduce crop yields, and negatively impact farmers' economies. Farmers faced serious challenges regarding water availability for agriculture in Klepek Village. In this study, the researcher conducted interviews, observations, and collected data to describe and analyze the impact of irrigation on addressing water scarcity, improving productivity, and increasing farmers' income in Klepek Village, Sukosewu Subdistrict, Bojonegoro Regency. A SWOT analysis was used to set an effective strategy of water management in order to improve the irrigation system. The sample reserach consisted of 30 respondents. A SWOT analysis indicate the position of quadrant I. It implies an aggressive strategy: improving famers skills in both, technical abilities and management skills. The results of the research indicate that irrigation has successfully become an effective solution to address water scarcity, leading to increased agricultural productivity and crop diversification.
