Abstract

Cocoa is one of the important agricultural commodities for various industrial activities such as cosmetics and food. Cocoa is widely consumed by the community, both in the form of instant chocolate and cocoa powder. Cocoa productivity is under its potential productivity, and have to enhance the cocoa production. The selection of clones for cocoa planting materials could determines the results of the plant. Plants convey genetic traits that can determine production capacity. Seedling viability and growth are indicators to determine whether plants can grow adeptly. Cocoa clones Sulawesi 01 and ICCRI 08 are superior clones that have the advantage of high productivity and are resistant to pests and diseases. The purpose of the study was to determine the viability of seeds and the growth of two cocoa clones Sulawesi 01 and ICCRI 08. The study design was a Completely Randomized Design with 2 levels and each had replications. The results of this study showed that the ICCRI 08 clone had the highest germinability of 92.1% and further the seedling growth parameters with a height of 6.6 cm at 21 days after planting. The highest vigor index measurement of 426.4 was in the ICCRI 08 clone and was significantly different compared to the Sulawesi 01 clone. The sigmoid curve showed the presence of growth initiation and exponential phases as indicated by increased growth as the plant age increased.

Abstract

Abstract

Household waste management in Patrang Village, Jember Regency, still faces the challenge of low community awareness in sorting waste at the source. This community service activity aims to enhance residents' knowledge and attitudes through an educational approach based on the Theory of Planned Behavior. The methods include pretest surveys, counseling, practical demonstrations, and posttests with 20 respondents. The pretest results showed that 90% of respondents had not yet sorted waste, although most were aware of the negative impact of improper waste disposal. After the education, there was a significant increase in understanding and pro-environmental attitudes, especially the readiness to sort waste at home. These findings indicate that educational and participatory approaches are effective in encouraging changes in waste management behavior. It is recommended that similar programs be conducted sustainably and involve more residents to support the creation of a clean and healthy environment.

Abstract

UD Al Jaliil is one of the agro-industry producers of white tofu in Balikpapan City. The challenge faced in maintaining quality is that defective products are still found. To handle this problem, UD AlJaliil needs to carry out quality control methods Six Sigma.  This research aims to 1) analyze the implementation of quality control at UD Al Jaliil using methods Six Sigma 2) Determine the DPMO value and level Sigma white tofu products 3) Identify the factors that cause defective products so that efforts can be made to improve the quality of white tofu. Quality control is carried out using methods Six Sigma. Six Sigma  is a quality control method by reducing the level of defects through five stages of DMAIC, namely Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. The results of the research show that the processes at UD Al Jaliil are not yet completely under control because processes are still found that are outside the control limits. The DPMO value is 306,300 units/process, meaning that in one million products produced there is the possibility of 306,300 defective products. Level Sigma UD Al Jaliil is 2.0064 Sigma. And there are several factors that cause defects in the texture of white tofu, namely factors man, machine, method, material and environment.

Abstract

Oil palm is one of the plantation commodities with high economic value. Post-harvest processing at an industrial scale generates substantial waste, which requires proper management to prevent environmental pollution. Oil palm waste contains organic materials that can be utilized to help improve soil fertility. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of applying oil palm waste in enhancing the growth of oil palm seedlings. The research used a Completely Randomized Factorial Design (3 x 3 x 3), indicating the presence of three factors, each consisting of three levels. Factor 1 was Empty Fruit Bunches (EFB) of oil palm, Factor 2 was the dosage of boiler ash, and Factor 3 was the dosage of nitrogen element from urea fertilizer, resulting in 27 treatment combinations. Each treatment was replicated five times, bringing the total number of plants in this study to 135. Data were analyzed with and F-test; at a 5% significance level, further analysis was using Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT). The results indicated that the application of solid oil palm waste, such as EFB, boiler ash, and nitrogen supplementation, did not significantly affect plant growth. The most effective and optimal dosage for promoting oil palm seedling growth was found in the treatment N2P2Q1 (30 g EFB + 30 g boiler ash + 2 g nitrogen). Based on these findings, increasing the dosage of EFB is recommended to further maximize the growth of oil palm seedlings. The results of this study can be utilized by the palm oil industry to integrate waste such as empty fruit bunches (EFB) and boiler ash into site-specific sustainable fertilization systems, thereby helping to reduce dependence on inorganic fertilizers, improve soil fertility, and support better environmental management.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of NPK and biochar made from oil palm fronds on the growth of palm oil seedlings at the main nursery stage using 4-month-old palm oil seedling samples. The experimental design used was a Randomized Block Design with two treatment factors with three replications. The first treatment factor was the administration of NPK 15-15-6-4 with a dose of 0.1 grams, 2 grams/polybag and the second factor was the administration of oil palm frond biochar with a dose of 0, 2.5 grams, and 5 grams. The results of research to observe the height parameters of palm oil seedlings in the main nursery, the best plant height was shown in B1N2 seedlings with a total height of 33.2 cm in the 7th week with a dose of 2.5 grams of B1N2 palm oil frond biochar and 2 grams of NPK. The highest number of fronds was found in B2N2 main nursery palm oil seeds with a total of 6 fronds, namely at a dose of 5 grams of biochar and 2 grams of NPK. The best enlargement of palm oil stump diameter was found in main nursery B0N2 palm oil seeds with an average stump diameter of 120.9 mm. The administration of NPK and biochar from palm oil fronds had a good effect on the height of palm oil seedlings, the number of palm oil fronds and good tuber enlargement.
