Abstract

Household waste management in Patrang Village, Jember Regency, still faces the challenge of low community awareness in sorting waste at the source. This community service activity aims to enhance residents' knowledge and attitudes through an educational approach based on the Theory of Planned Behavior. The methods include pretest surveys, counseling, practical demonstrations, and posttests with 20 respondents. The pretest results showed that 90% of respondents had not yet sorted waste, although most were aware of the negative impact of improper waste disposal. After the education, there was a significant increase in understanding and pro-environmental attitudes, especially the readiness to sort waste at home. These findings indicate that educational and participatory approaches are effective in encouraging changes in waste management behavior. It is recommended that similar programs be conducted sustainably and involve more residents to support the creation of a clean and healthy environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of growth and competitiveness strategies in four main centers of tobacco production in East Java, namely: Jember Regency, Probolinggo Regency, Pamekasan Regency and Bojonegoro Regency. This study uses a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) analysis approach to production, harvested area and productivity in 2013 to 2023. The results of the analysis show that all regencies experienced positive growth rates. Bojonegoro Regency and Pamekasan Regency received the highest production CAGR values, namely 18.99% and 18.52%, respectively. Jember Regency excelled in productivity CAGR value with a value of 11.84% and Probolinggo Regency experienced a decrease in harvested area CAGR value triggered by lack of access to technology and incoming information. When compared to the national level, the four regions showed better performance in all main indicators. These findings confirm that East Java has great potential as a center for national tobacco agribusiness growth. To strengthen competitiveness, recommended strategies include strengthening farmer-industry partnerships, product downstreaming, optimizing Tobacco Excise Revenue Sharing Funds (DBH-CHT), improving market governance, and implementing quality certification.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in Indonesia's economic development; however, many face challenges in maintaining competitiveness, particularly in the traditional food sector. One example is the Putri Madu Cassava Tape Business in Jember Regency, East Java, which has experienced a decline in sales even though it has a wide market network. This study aimed to formulate an effective marketing strategy by combining SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis and Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM). The literature review highlighted the importance of strategic management, marketing mix, digital marketing, and empirical findings related to the competitiveness of MSMEs. Data was collected through interviews, questionnaires, and documentation involving business owners, employees, and marketing experts. The SWOT analysis identified key strengths such as product quality and an extensive distribution network, as well as weaknesses in the form of limited product innovation and conventional promotion. External analysis showed opportunities from digital technology adoption and government support, accompanied by the threat of fierce competition and changing consumer preferences. The QSPM results prioritized six alternative strategies, with digital marketing integration (TAS: 6.52) and product diversification (TAS: 6.20) as top priorities. These findings showed that the combination of SWOT–QSPM with digital marketing can provide a strategic framework for MSMEs to increase competitiveness, expand the market, and achieve sustainable growth.
