Abstract

Vocational High School (SMK) management differs significantly from that of Senior High Schools (SMA), particularly in managing technical programs and teacher responsibilities. This study investigates the effects of vocational program management and teacher performance on learning quality in public SMKs in Bireuen Regency, Aceh. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected via surveys from 176 teachers and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Results show that both teacher performance and vocational program quality positively and significantly influence learning quality, with teacher performance also exerting an indirect effect. These findings underscore the importance of integrated program planning and teacher development to enhance student learning outcomes in vocational education. The study highlights the need for systemic alignment between program content and educator competencies to support the learning needs of SMK students. While focused on a specific regional context, the findings offer relevant insights for broader vocational education reform initiatives.

Abstract

This research examines the role of LMX in improving teacher creativity conducted by principals by using LMX theory. This research studies whether the principals show their maximal role in LMX and participate, empower, and collaborate with teachers to improve and increase school quality. So far, there are no apparent effects of LMX on teacher creativity. We try to examine the relationship between creativity and the role of LMX as a source of relations for teachers. The data were collected from 165 teachers and 19 principals in the Education Office in Bandung City, Indonesia. The statistical analysis used in this study is Partial Least Square (PLS) with smartPLS 3.0 software. We found out that LMX still has adverse effects when the principals have regulated and limited their participation, empowerment, and collaboration in LMX, so they have obstacles in showing their creativity. Through this research, we expect that the LMX practices based on professional effect, loyalty, contribution, and respect will greatly benefit teacher creativity; thus, principals must improve their communication and setting of shared works. Results of this research propose that friendship, mutual shares with good interpersonal communication, participation, empowerment, and collaboration are important aspects for principals to stimulate creativity.

Abstract

This study explores the role of Income-Generating Units (IGUs) in promoting the economic independence of Islamic boarding schools. This study focuses on the mechanism of IGUs' contribution to the financial and educational sustainability of Islamic boarding schools, considering that the existing literature is still limited in discussing this aspect in depth. The main objective of this study is to investigate the strategies and resources that enable Islamic boarding schools to achieve economic independence to support the sustainability of their education. This study uses a qualitative with case study approach in Islamic boarding schools that have developed various mining, fisheries, and agribusiness businesses. Data were collected through interviews, observations, document reviews, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). The data analysis process includes classification, processing, and validation with the help of NVIVO software for effective management and coding of qualitative data. The results show that the economic success of Islamic boarding schools is driven by three main factors: effective resource utilization, strategic partnerships with external parties, and active involvement of students in business activities. This study confirms that IGUs play an important role in ensuring the sustainability of Islamic boarding schools, both in terms of financial independence and the development of student's practical skills, which simultaneously strengthens the competitiveness of Islamic boarding school education.

Abstract

Background. This study examines the influence of compensation, workload, and work-life balance on employees’ work loyalty, with job satisfaction as a mediating variable.Methods. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through a 4-point Likert scale survey of employees at the Central Bureau of Statistics in West Java Province in 2025, analyzed using a two-stage Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique. Results. The findings reveal that workload uniquely plays both a direct and indirect role in influencing work loyalty through job satisfaction, whereas compensation and work-life balance show no significant direct effects. This research offers novelty by applying a two-stage PLS-SEM mediation analysis in the context of Indonesia’s public sector, where empirical evidence on employee loyalty determinants remains limited. Conclusion. Theoretically, this study expands the understanding of job satisfaction as a partial mediator in loyalty formation. Practically, the findings suggest that managing workload fairness can be a more effective strategy for enhancing loyalty among public employees than solely focusing on compensation or work-life initiatives.
