Abstract

Madurese, as one of the regional languages used by more than thirteen million speakers, has an important role in maintaining the ethnic and cultural identity of the Madurese people. This research aims to analyze the use of affixations in Madurese contained in the Sekar Anom 3 Package Book Chapter 1 for class IX SMP/MTS. Madurese, as a regional language with a complex morphological system, has various forms of affixation, including prefixes, infixes, suffixes and confixes. Using qualitative descriptive methods, this research identifies words that undergo the affixation process, analyzes their form, and reveals their morphological and semantic functions. The research results show that the affixation process not only enriches the structure and meaning of words in Madurese but also reflects its flexibility and uniqueness in word formation. Prefixes such as a-, è-, and ma- are used to provide causative, passive, or formal functions, while infixes such as -um- and -en- expand the meaning of the base word. The suffixes -a, -na, and -aghi as well as confixes such as ka-an, pa-an, and e-na are also found to strengthen descriptive, indicating, or command functions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of italics and capital letters in the novel Hati Suhita by Khilma Anis based on the General Guidelines for Indonesian Spelling (PUEBI). This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with text analysis techniques on quotations in the novel that contain italics and capital letters. The results of the study indicate that there are various forms of inconsistencies in the use of italics, especially in words in regional languages ​​(Javanese), foreign terms, and non-standard words that are not italicized as they should be. Meanwhile, errors in the use of capital letters were found in the form of inappropriate capitalization of common nouns, greetings, and after punctuation that does not start a new sentence. Of the total data analyzed, more than half of the quotations showed deviations from applicable spelling rules. These errors have an impact on the clarity of meaning, stylistic nuances, and readers' perceptions of the narrative structure. This study emphasizes the importance of spelling accuracy in literary works, not only as a technical aspect, but also as part of the rhetorical and aesthetic power of the text. These findings are expected to be a reference in editing literary works and teaching Indonesian based on spelling.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan antara penggunaan smartphone dan konsentrasi belajar mahasiswa Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (FKIP) Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember angkatan 2022. Menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional, penelitian ini melibatkan 95 mahasiswa yang dipilih secara purposive dari total 190 populasi. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner yang telah teruji validitas dan reliabilitasnya, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan regresi linear sederhana dengan bantuan SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan smartphone memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan dan positif terhadap konsentrasi belajar mahasiswa. Secara spesifik, penggunaan smartphone yang diarahkan untuk keperluan akademik ditemukan dapat meningkatkan konsentrasi belajar. Temuan ini didukung oleh koefisien regresi sebesar 0,674 dan nilai R square 0,678, yang mengindikasikan bahwa 67,8% variasi konsentrasi belajar dapat dijelaskan oleh penggunaan smartphone. Berbeda dengan pandangan umum yang sering menyoroti dampak negatif penggunaan smartphone terhadap konsentrasi, penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa teknologi ini dapat menjadi alat yang mendukung pembelajaran jika digunakan secara bijak dan terarah. Oleh karena itu, disarankan agar mahasiswa dapat mengelola penggunaan smartphone mereka secara efektif untuk tujuan akademik, dan pihak fakultas didorong untuk memanfaatkan teknologi ini sebagai media pembelajaran yang inovatif
