Abstract

This study aims to analyze the community's preparedness in facing natural disasters in Tegaltirto Village through indicators that include preparedness, vulnerability, and social resilience. Based on data collected through surveys and field observations in several hamlets, the analysis is conducted using data on preparedness values, vulnerability, and social resilience to provide an overview of how ready the community is to face natural disasters. The results of this study are expected to provide recommendations for improving community preparedness for natural disasters and contribute to disaster mitigation planning in the field of civil engineering.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country vulnerable to earthquakes due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire, including the Special Region of Yogyakarta, which is frequently affected by earthquakes with severe impacts. To reduce the risk of injuries and casualties from earthquakes, community preparedness and disaster mitigation education are urgently needed. This community service program was conducted through a community-based approach at the Bumi Damai Shelter Foundation in Yogyakarta, consisting of three phases: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The activities included developing educational materials on earthquake-resistant buildings and disaster mitigation tailored for children from elementary to high school levels, using interactive methods such as lectures, videos, and earthquake simulations. The evaluation results indicate that the program successfully increased participants' understanding and preparedness for earthquakes, with high enthusiasm observed throughout the activities. This program is expected to serve as a sustainable model for disaster mitigation education, particularly to enhance public awareness of the importance of earthquake preparedness.

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara dengan tingkat risiko bencana alam yang tinggi, baik geologis maupun hidrometeorologis. Dalam situasi ini, institusi pendidikan memiliki peran penting dalam menanamkan budaya kesiapsiagaan bencana sejak dini. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Madrasah Aliyah-Salafiyah Ulya Islamic Centre Bin Baz Putri Yogyakarta dengan tujuan meningkatkan kesadaran dan pemahaman siswa terkait mitigasi bencana alam. Pendekatan yang digunakan bersifat edukatif dan partisipatif, melalui penyuluhan interaktif dan kuis reflektif. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dalam beberapa tahapan, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan edukasi, dan sesi kuis partisipatif yang dirancang menyenangkan untuk mempermudah pemahaman siswa terhadap informasi tanggap darurat. Materi yang diberikan mencakup jenis bencana, potensi lokal di Yogyakarta, serta langkah-langkah mitigasi dan peran pelajar dalam pengurangan risiko. Respon siswa sangat positif dan partisipatif, didukung oleh keterlibatan guru yang menyatakan perlunya kegiatan berkelanjutan dan integrasi dalam kurikulum. Simulasi “drop-cover-hold” dan visualisasi dampak bencana membantu siswa memahami realitas di lapangan. Program ini memperkuat kapasitas sekolah dalam menciptakan budaya sadar bencana dan berpotensi menjadi model bagi sekolah keagamaan lainnya. Kolaborasi dengan BPBD serta integrasi kurikulum menjadi strategi lanjutan yang direkomendasikan.

Abstract

Indonesia, located within the Pacific Ring of Fire, is highly vulnerable to earthquakes. This disaster risk is exacerbated by the low level of community preparedness, particularly in Tegaltirto Village, where the majority of residents work as farmers, laborers, or livestock breeders with limited education and disaster knowledge. A community service program conducted by the Civil Engineering Department of Universitas Madani aimed to empower women, especially mothers, as the frontline of family-based earthquake mitigation. The program was implemented through socialization, demonstrations, hands-on practice, and post-activity mentoring. Initial surveys revealed that 85% of participants had minimal knowledge of practical earthquake mitigation measures. After the program, post-test scores increased by 72%, indicating a significant improvement in both theoretical understanding and practical skills, particularly in preparing emergency kits. These findings highlight that participatory methods combined with practical learning effectively promote transformative learning and enhance community preparedness. Therefore, similar training programs should be carried out sustainably with support from local authorities and community leaders to foster a culture of disaster preparedness at the family level.

Abstract

The potential for major earthquakes in Indonesia requires further analysis of multi-story buildings. This is so that when an earthquake occurs, the building structure is expected to be able to withstand it. One method of analyzing building structures is the pushover method. This method is often used in the analysis of multi-story buildings with less than 10 floors because the rigidity of the structure is still sufficient to support seismic loads. This study will evaluate the performance of steel frame building structures using the pushover method, which will then be converted into seismic fragility curves. The results of the pushover analysis on the building structure along the Y-axis axis can withstand a base shear force of 4400 kN, while along the Y-axis axis, it can withstand 3100 kN. The capacity curve output from the pushover will be converted into a capacity spectrum curve using the formula from ATC-40. The capacity spectrum curve will then be converted into a fragility curve.

Abstract

Sungai Code merupakan salah satu sungai strategis di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta yang memiliki peranan penting bagi masyarakat, namun menghadapi permasalahan serius akibat pencemaran air. Aktivitas domestik, pertanian, dan industri di sepanjang aliran sungai menyebabkan menurunnya kualitas air, yang semakin memburuk pada musim kemarau ketika debit sungai menurun. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat pencemaran Sungai Code dengan menggunakan metode Indeks Pencemaran berdasarkan data primer dan sekunder dari BLH DIY. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar titik pengamatan berada dalam kategori cemar ringan hingga cemar sedang, dan beberapa titik sudah mencapai kategori cemar berat. Kondisi ini diperkuat dengan pengamatan visual yang menemukan banyak sampah, perubahan warna air, serta bau menyengat pada beberapa lokasi. Penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya pengendalian limbah, kebijakan pengelolaan terpadu, serta peningkatan kesadaran masyarakat untuk menjaga kualitas Sungai Code secara berkelanjutan.
