Abstract

This research analyzes the illocutionary acts of Adam Clay, the protagonist in The Beekeeper (2024), through the lens of John Searle’s Speech Act Theory. The objective is to explore how these acts contribute to character development and thematic elements of justice, revenge, and morality. Utilizing a qualitative content analysis methodology, dialogues from critical scenes were transcribed and categorized into Searle’s classifications: assertives, directives, commissives, expressives, and declaratives. The findings reveal a predominance of assertive acts (30 occurrences, 30%), followed by directives (25 instances, 25%), commissives (20 instances, 20%), expressives (15 instances, 15%), and declaratives (10 instances, 10%). This distribution underscores Clay’s assertive control and emotional complexity, enhancing the film's thematic richness. In conclusion, the study highlights the pivotal role of language as a narrative device in The Beekeeper, demonstrating how illocutionary acts encapsulate the protagonist's motivations and ethical dilemmas. This research contributes to the understanding of pragmatic analysis in cinematic contexts and sets a foundation for future investigations into the interplay between language and character development in film.

Abstract

The movie "Nanti Kita Cerita tentang Hari" (2020) tells the story of conflict in a family, which reflects a commonsituation that often occurs in society. Although many want a harmonious family, in reality every family has its ownconflicts. This research aims to understand the meaning of family conflict with a descriptive qualitative approachand uses Charless Sanders Pierce theory. The data collection method uses observation, documentation, andliterature study, with the object of research focusing on the movie "Nanti Kita Cerita Tentang Hari Ini". The resultsof the study identified two types of family conflicts, namely conflicts that can be resolved and conflicts that aresustainable.

Abstract

Jahe (Zingiber officinale) merupakan tanaman herbal dengan berbagai manfaat kesehatan, seperti meningkatkan imunitas, mengurangi peradangan, dan menjaga metabolisme tubuh. Pemanfaatan jahe di masyarakat perkotaan masih terbatas pada rebusan tradisional, yang kurang praktis dan memiliki daya simpan pendek. Program pengabdian masyarakat di RT 05/RW 01 Kelurahan Sidomulyo Timur, Pekanbaru, bertujuan memperkenalkan inovasi teh celup jahe sebagai minuman kesehatan yang praktis, higienis, dan berpotensi menjadi usaha lokal. Kegiatan dilaksanakan oleh mahasiswa KKN Universitas Abdurrab melalui tahapan survei, observasi, persiapan, produksi, sosialisasi, serta monitoring dan evaluasi melalui Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan penerimaan masyarakat yang baik; 80% menyukai aroma, 73% menyukai rasa, dan 67% menilai kemasan menarik. Beberapa peserta merasakan manfaat langsung seperti tubuh lebih hangat, tenggorokan lega, dan perut nyaman. Kesimpulannya, teh celup jahe dapat diterima secara organoleptik, memberikan manfaat kesehatan, dan membuka peluang ekonomi kreatif berbasis potensi lokal, mendukung kemandirian masyarakat.

Abstract

The focus of this research is the role of education management in improving the quality of learning at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 1 Palembang. The role of educational management is very influential on the success of learning. This research is a field research using a qualitative approach. The type of data used is qualitative data. There are two kinds of data sources used, namely primary data sources and secondary data. Meanwhile, to obtain data using the method of observation, documentation and interviews. For data processing using descriptive qualitative data analysis. The results of this study are First, the implementation of the education management function has been carried out properly, in accordance with the conditions of the school concerned. This means that all of these management functions have been carried out but due to limited supporting factors in the form of infrastructure and conditions of school personnel, the management functions are carried out as well as possible. Second, the educational management function that has been carried out at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 1 Palembang shows an increase in the quality of education and employee performance, although there are still some obstacles but it does not really affect work professionalism and the resulting quality shows quite satisfactory results in terms of input and output.
