Abstract

THE ROLE OF EMOTION REGULATION AND PARENTAL ATTENTION ON SOCIAL PROBLEM-SOLVING OF BOARDING SCHOOL'S ADOLESCENT. This study aimed to know the correlation of emotion regulation and parental attention to social problem solving of boarding school adolescents. The research subjects were 65 students of SMAN CMBBS who were selected by simple random sampling method. The instruments used are social problem-solving scale, emotion regulation scale, and parental attention scale. Data were analyzed by multiple regression analysis. The results showed that there was a significant correlation between emotion regulation and parental attention with social problem solving for SMAN CMBBS adolescents, with p = 0.00 (R = 0.699). Partial correlation test proves that there is a significant correlation between emotional regulation and social problem solving for SMAN CMBBS adolescents (p = 0.00; rx1y = 0.549). Partial correlation also proves that there is a significant relationship of parental attention to social problem solving for adolescent CMBBS (p = 0.032; rx2y = 0.268). This study concludes that there is a significant correlation between emotion regulation and parental attention to social problem solving of SMAN CMBBS adolescents.

Abstract

Pendidikan berbasis boarding school menjadi salah satu model pendidikan yang banyak diminati di Indonesia karena dianggap ideal untuk membentuk pribadi siswa menjadi lebih terampil dalam menghadapi lingkungan sosial. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui gambaran tentang Social Problem Solving pada Remaja yang bersekolah di Boarding School. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif yang melibatkan 65 siswa SMA boarding school yang diperoleh melalui accidental sampling. Analisis data pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan analisis statistik deskriptif. Instrumen data yang digunakan yaitu skala modifikasi Social Problem-Solving Inventory-Revised (SPSI-R) yang telah diadaptasi dalam Bahasa Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebanyak 95,38% siswa memiliki kemampuan social problem-solving tinggi, 3,08% berada pada kategori sedang, dan 1,54% berada pada kategori rendah. Temuan lain pada penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perempuan memiliki social problem solving sedikit lebih tinggi dibandingkan laki-laki, serta kelompok kelas X memiliki social problem solving lebih tinggi dibanding kelompok kelas XI.

Abstract

This study uses a quantitative approach that aims to examine the role of emotional regulation and social support on the subjective well-being of students experiencing online learning as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The research subjects were obtained through purposive sampling and amounted to 271 college students in Indonesia, consisting of 87 men and 184 women. The data collection instruments used in this study were the emotional regulation scale, the social support scale, and the subjective well-being scale of students. The results of the multiple regression analysis test proved that emotional regulation and social support played a significant role (p = 0.00) in the subjective well-being of students (R = 0.679). The results showed that the higher the emotional regulation and social support contribute to the higher level of student’s subjective well-being. In this study, it was found that the emotional regulation giving effective contribution of 28,6% and social support contributing 17,5% to the college students subjective well-being.
