Abstract

Indonesia as a country with religious diversity still upholds unity and integrity through the application of the concept of religious moderation. The view of religious moderation initiated by the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs aims to maintain a balance of religious understanding so as not to be trapped in extremism, either strict or too loose. This research focuses on the tradition of weton calculation in Javanese marriage which is a form of adaptation of local culture with Islamic values, in accordance with the value of religious moderation, namely adaptive to local culture. The weton tradition is considered important in determining the good day and compatibility of the couple before the wedding takes place, and has become part of the life of Javanese people who still uphold customs. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through ethnographic methods, Plandi Village, Wonosari District, Malang Regency became the location of this research. The results show that although the weton tradition has strong cultural roots, this practice is not contrary to Islamic teachings as long as it is not considered as the only way to determine goodness. Thus, this tradition can be judged as a custom that is in line with Islamic values and contributes to the efforts of religious moderation in Indonesia.

Abstract

This article discusses the dynamics of dualism in Islamic education in Indonesia, which lasted from the colonial period to the modern era. This dualism is reflected in the separation between public schools and madrasahs, each of which has different curriculum characteristics, management, and educational goals. Public schools tend to focus on mastering science and technology, while madrasahs emphasize in-depth religious education, although both have the same national goal of educating the nation's life and shaping the character of students. Through a desk research approach and historical analysis, this article reviews the historical roots of dualism, government policies, and curriculum comparisons between the two institutions. It is found that this difference causes challenges in the integration of the education system, especially regarding management, quality of resources, and public perceptions. However, through the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, particularly through P5 and P5RA, there are efforts to unify religious and national values in the education system. This article recommends the importance of synergy between schools and madrasahs in order to achieve inclusive and sustainable national education quality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe how the axiology or values of Islamic education play a role in the formation and development of students character within the environment of Al-Maahira IIBS Islamic boarding school in Malang. This research employs descriptive qualitative methods, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The primary data is derived from observations conducted by the researchers at the research site, supported by secondary data from documents such as lesson schedules, lesson plans, daily journals, attendance records, and profiles obtained from the Al-Maahira website. The results of this study indicate changes or influences from the learning outcomes of religious subjects and the habituation of spirituality by making teachers and musyrifahs as role models in the development of students' character at Al-Maahira IIBS Junior High School in Malang. Students, mostly from financially well-off families and lacking parental attention, present challenges in developing character in accordance with Islamic educational principles. Thus, this research aims to provide contributions to educators, students, and educational policymakers in the process of character formation based on the values and principles of Islamic education. [ Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan bagaimana aksiologi atau nilai pendidikan islam berperan dalam pembentukan dan pengembangan karakter peserta didik dalam lingkungan pondok pesantren Al-Maahira IIBS Malang. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara serta dokumentasi, untuk data primer sendiri berasal dari observasi yang peneliti lakukan di lokasi penelitian, serta didukung oleh data sekunder yang berasal dari dokumen-dokumen seperti jadwal pembelajaran, Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP), jurnal harian, absensi, serta profil yang dapat peneliti ambil dari website Al-Maahira sendiri. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan mengenai adanya perubahan atau pengaruh dari hasil pembelajaran mata pelajaran keagamaan serta pembiasaan sipritualitas dengan menjadikan guru dan musyrifah sebagai role model pada pengembangan karakter peserta didik di SMP Al-Maahira IIBS Malang. Peserta didik yang kebanyakan berasal dari latar belakang keluarga yang berkecukupan secara finansial dan kurang akan perhatian orang tua menjadi permasalahan yang melatarbelakangi adanya karakter peserta didik yang kurang sesuai dengan prinsip pendidikan islam, maka penelitian ini hadir dengan tujuan untuk memberikan kontribusi bagi pendidik, peserta didik, dan pengambil kebijakan pendidikan dalam proses pembentukan karakter peserta didik berdasarkan nilai-nilai dan prinsip pendidikan Islam].

Abstract

This article discusses the relationship between financing patterns and educational curriculum in the Nizhamiyah Madrasah during the heyday of the Abbasid Daulah in Baghdad. The problem studied is how the funding system through government waqf influenced the structure and orientation of the curriculum in the madrasa. The purpose of this study is to reveal the impact of the financing system on the focus of the applied educational curriculum. This research uses descriptive-analytical method with primary and secondary data collection through literature study of Islamic education history. The results show that the funding pattern sourced from waqf influenced the establishment of a curriculum dominated by religious sciences, especially fiqh, as part of the effort to strengthen Sunni theology. Teaching focused on the Shafi'i school of thought and was staffed by prominent scholars of the time. In addition, efficient financial management by the government contributed to the availability of adequate educational facilities. Thus, it can be concluded that the financing system played a significant role in shaping the curriculum of the Nizhamiyah Madrasah, which was directed at producing a cadre of leaders who excelled in the fields of religion and government. Abstrak: Artikel ini membahas hubungan antara pola pembiayaan dan kurikulum pendidikan di Madrasah Nizhamiyah pada masa kejayaan Daulah Abbasiyah di Baghdad. Permasalahan yang dikaji adalah bagaimana sistem pendanaan melalui wakaf pemerintah memengaruhi struktur dan orientasi kurikulum di madrasah tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkap dampak sistem pembiayaan terhadap fokus kurikulum pendidikan yang diterapkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif-analitis dengan pengumpulan data primer dan sekunder melalui studi literatur sejarah pendidikan Islam. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pola pendanaan yang bersumber dari wakaf memengaruhi penetapan kurikulum yang didominasi oleh ilmu-ilmu keagamaan, khususnyafiqih, sebagaibagiandariupayapenguatanteologi Sunni. Pengajarandifokuskan pada mazhab Syafi’i dan dikelola oleh ulama-ulama terkemuka pada masanya. Selain itu, manajemen keuangan yang efisien oleh pemerintah turut menunjang tersedianya fasilitas pendidikan yang memadai. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa sistem pembiayaan berperan signifikan dalam membentuk kurikulum Madrasah Nizhamiyah, yang diarahkan untuk mencetak kader pemimpin yang unggul dalam bidang keagamaan dan pemerintahan.
