Abstract

As perspectives in post-Cold War international relations changed, non-state players started to appear. From that point on, monitoring politics and security causes the state to start acting. However, during the present outbreak, politics and security were not major concerns, which had an impact on the state as an actor and reduced its importance as a major player in international affairs. Other actors, including people, international organizations, and multinational corporations, are now able to start having an impact on the country because of new challenges including the economy, human rights, ecology, and terrorism. Due to growing concerns about international relations, sub-state entities, such as states, cities, and provinces, are increasingly able to take part in international operations. In order to support education for inclusive schools in Surabaya in 2022, the Surabaya MoU collaboration process with St. Vincent School Liverpool will be examined for sustainability in this study. The research's conclusions show how the two cities' agreement to assist in the enhancement of quality education for their residents is still being implemented. This study intends to give a general picture of the ongoing partnership between Liverpool and the Surabaya city administration in 2022 regarding inclusive education for people with disabilities and assess the challenges that arise during the engagement.

Abstract

Ethics is usually closely related to the values and norms that exist in a society. In practice, political ethics demands that all claims to the right to organize association be accounted for on basic moral principles. Therefore political ethics seeks to help society to realize the noble state ideology into objective political reality. This study discusses the Machievelli’s view of political ethics and its comparison with the Islamic theory of political ethics. Previous research focused more on understanding political ethics according to Machievelli only and understanding political ethics according to Islam only. While this research will complement the last gap research, namely comparing the understanding of political ethics according to Machievelli and Islam. The authors used a descriptive method with data collection techniques in journals, articles, and other literature in this study. From the perspective of Machievelli, ethics is often considered secondary or not essential. Political ethics cannot be applied in international politics and prioritizes self-interest rather than moral principles. Realizing self-interest by the state is seen as a right, or a duty considered a realist principle. In contrast, Islam views political ethics as a guide that upholds the values of justice and respects human rights to create sustainable peace under religious norms.

Abstract

Capitalist economics is an ideology introduced by Adam Smith as an economic system controlled by the private sector and the government does not play too much of a role in trading activities. However, if we look at the bad impact of the Capitalist economic system, there is a social gap between rich and poor people. Because in this system the private sector has the right to seek maximum profits in any way and has the right to increase its business. while ordinary workers can only work and receive wages from the rich, so that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. So this research will discuss the impact of the implementation of the capitalist economic system on the welfare of society in the United States and China, and whether the progress of these two countries can improve the prosperity of their society. This research uses a qualitative method based on existing literature and information discussing the case. The results of this research are that the United States and China as developed countries and dominate international markets cannot avoid cases of social inequality among their communities. The intensity of the phenomenon of inequality of opinion and even gender continues to narrow, facilities such as education and health in cities and villages are very different, many children in villages experience delays in receiving education compared to children who live in urban areas.

Abstract

This research discusses LGBT developments that can become a threat to global security with Sweden as a case study. The existence of LGBT communities is considered to be legal in some countries, but there are also countries that violently oppose the existence of these communities. This opposition happens because the existence of LGBT groups is considered to be a new threat in the future and can affect global security. The development of LGBT groups in the world is very influential in various aspects, so therefore this research uses two concepts, such as human security concepts that focus on aspects of personal security and healthy security and the concept of transnationalism movements, while the research method used is an explanatory qualitative method by retrieving data from books, scientific journals, articles and websites. Human security is the protection from various aspects that threaten human existence, including military aspects, global warming, terrorism, malnutrition, disease, and more. Meanwhile, the transnationalism movement is an effort to promote or express rejection of a new change that is happening across countries. The outcome of this study explains that the existence of same-sex sexual activity groups has become a new threat to global security because their existence threatens various aspects of human security such as personal, community, health, and environmental security.

Abstract

The New Southern Policy (NSP) Plus, an initiative by South Korea to deepen its ties with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), presents a unique opportunity for enhanced bilateral cooperation and development, particularly with Indonesia. This research delves into the dynamics and potential of this intensified partnership, focusing on its implications for domestic and international economic and social empowerment. This study is anchored in the neoliberal institutional theory with the Keynesianism perspective within international relations, offering a nuanced perspective on international cooperation’s mechanisms and multidimensional outcomes. Employing a qualitative research method and descriptive analysis, this study examined the complementary aspects of Indonesia and South Korea’s economies and how these synergies can elevate the NSP Plus initiative from a bilateral framework to a more expansive model of international cooperation. This research posits that the mutual benefits derived from this partnership are pivotal in fostering closer ties and can potentially be replicated in other areas of international collaboration. A significant aspect of this study is the exploration of the government’s role as a policy facilitator and the active involvement of the private sector and broader community in these cooperative efforts. This multi-stakeholder approach is critical in understanding the dynamics of international cooperation and its impact on societal elements. Furthermore, this research applied the Keynesianism concept of the five-multiplier effect on economic growth to analyze how the NSP Plus policy can bolster domestic development cycles. It includes job creation, market expansion, and investment market growth, all facilitated by the private sector’s engagement. The study aims to comprehensively understand the NSP Plus initiative’s potential in strengthening Indonesia-South Korea relations and its broader implications for regional economic development and international cooperation.
