Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk membantu para pendidik dalam meningkatkan minat siswa terhadap pelajaran matematika. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menjelaskan bagaimana pendekatan metode RME (Realistic Mathematic Education) dalam mengajarkan materi matriks dengan mengaitkannya dengan konsep kriptografi yang dapat ditemukan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, seperti pada saat berkirim pesan. Pendekatan yang dilakukan akan memberikan siswa perasaan bermakna terhadap pembelajaran karena siswa didorong untuk aktif dalam memecahkan masalah yang dihadapinya. Materi yang dikaji dalam penelitian ini adalah penerapan matriks dalam pengiriman pesan rahasia dengan menggunakan gabungan kriptografi Hill Cipher dan Caesar Cipher. Konsep matriks yang dibahas dalam pembelajaran ini adalah perkalian dua matriks, invers matriks, dan perkalian dengan invers matriks. Dalam prosesnya, guru mengarahkan siswa dengan membagi mereka menjadi dua kelompok dengan masing-masing kelompok memiliki tugas yang berbeda, yaitu kelompok A bertugas untuk mengenkripsi pesan agar terjaga kerahasiaannya, sedangkan Kelompok B bertugas untuk menguraikan pesan rahasia yang telah dienkripsi sehingga menjadi pesan yang dapat dipahami. Desain dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode Library Research dimana berbagai sumber seperti buku, jurnal, dan artikel menjadi rujukan atau titik acuan dalam proses penelitian.

Abstract

Ethnomathematics is an approach that connects mathematical concepts with elements of local culture. In this context, education and culture are closely interrelated in shaping students’ understanding of mathematics. This study aims to explore mathematical concepts embedded in Ratoh Jaroe Dance, a traditional dance from Aceh, and its potential to support mathematics learning in schools. A qualitative method with an ethnographic approach was employed, involving observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. Data were analyzed through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the activities in Ratoh Jaroe Dance reflect ethnomathematical practices such as counting, measuring, pattern design, and spatial positioning. Identified mathematical concepts include geometry, set theory, and transformation. The implementation of these findings in extracurricular activities at SMAN 28 Tangerang Regency had a positive impact by enhancing students’ ability to relate mathematics to local culture and encouraging creative thinking.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of engklek ethnomathematics on mathematical problem-solving abilities in Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 6 Jambi City. This research is a quantitative study with a True experimental design, namely the Posttest-only control design. Class VII population of as many as 113 people. The sampling technique uses Simple Random Sampling. The sample size was drawn using two samples, namely the control group and the experimental group with a research sample of each group totaling 20 students. The data collection technique uses a description test totaling 5 questions. Data analysis in this study used t-test data analysis. From the results of the t-test calculation, it is obtained that t_0 is greater than t_table at a significance level of 5% or 1%, for a party test a significant level is 5% = 4,711 > 2.03 and a party test a significant level is 1% = 4,711 > 2.03. From the calculation results, the researchers found that the application of crank ethnomathematics had an effect on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities at MTs N 6 Jambi City. The results of this study suggest teachers be able to apply culture-based learning media in mathematics lessons.
