Abstract

The purpose of this study is to address the problem of incorrect pronunciation among students studying English education. The study used a descriptive methodology. Five students from the English education department participated in this study. Through interviewing and test recordings, the data was gathered. A test was used to evaluate the problems that students were facing, and an interview was done to validate the information gathered. Due to the differences in the linguistic systems of English and Bahasa, there were problems with pronunciation such as irregular placement and articulation, as well as a deficiency in the ability to pronounce vowels and consonants according to the international phonetics alphabet. The professor offered oral comments, mobile phone apps, audio-visual materials, and a lot of reading practice as methods for teaching English pronunciation.

Abstract

This research investigates the impact of TikTok on junior high school students' English learning motivation and identifies effective content types. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with supporting quantitative data, this study involved 7 students from SMPN 2 Pandan Nauli who regularly engaged with English learning content on TikTok. Data was collected through questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and content observation. The findings show that students feel more motivated to learn English through TikTok content, especially vocabulary tips, idiomatic expressions, and pronunciation, which are presented in an interesting, easy-to-understand, and contextually appropriate way. While TikTok cannot replace formal education, its effectiveness as a complementary learning tool depends on the quality of the content and students' ability to integrate it into their learning routines. This study recommends that educators utilize digital platforms like TikTok to foster a more engaging, flexible and meaningful English learning experience for today's generation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas penerapan nilai kemanusiaan dalam pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan (PPKn) dengan fokus pada siswa di sebuah SMP Negeri di Kota Medan. Pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif digunakan untuk menggambarkan dan menjelaskan fenomena yang terjadi dalam konteks pembelajaran. Partisipan dipilih menggunakan metode purposive sampling, dengan instrumen kuesioner sebagai alat pengumpulan data. Data dianalisis menggunakan triangulasi dan menyimpulkan temuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan nilai kemanusiaan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari belum optimal, yang berdampak pada pelanggaran Hak Asasi Manusia (HAM). Konsep kemanusiaan yang adil dan beradab, seperti yang tercantum dalam sila kedua Pancasila, masih perlu diperkuat dalam praktek masyarakat. Penelitian menemukan bahwa situasi yang tidak mematuhi nilai kemanusiaan ditemukan dalam berbagai konteks, termasuk di kalangan aparat negara dan remaja. Selain itu, untuk penerapan nilai kemanusiaan dinilai sudah cukup dilihat dari aspek kebenaran, kedamaian, cinta kasih, Kebajikan, dan situasi tanpa kekerasan. Perlunya pembangunan karakter siswa berdasarkan nilai-nilai Pancasila menjadi penting untuk menciptakan lingkungan pendidikan yang lebih harmonis dan bermartabat. Dengan demikian, pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan memiliki peran yang penting dalam menanamkan nilai kemanusiaan kepada generasi muda. Implikasi penelitian ini menunjukkan perlunya upaya bersama dari pihak sekolah, orang tua, dan masyarakat dalam memperkuat nilai-nilai kemanusiaan dalam pendidikan dan kehidupan sehari-hari.
