Abstract

Euthanasia adalah tindakan mengakhiri kehidupan seseorang baik secara aktif maupun pasif untuk menghentikan penderitaan atas penyakit yang tidak dapat disembuhkan. Mahasiswa kedokteran sebagai seorang calon dokter adalah pihak yang akan berhubungan dengan euthanasia. Mahasiswa Kedokteran pada tahun pertama hingga co-ass mempunyai pengetahuan yang berbeda tentang topik euthanasia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan sikap terhadap euthanasia ditinjau dari jenjang pendidikan mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran. Subjek penelitian adalah seluruh mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran (N=344 mahasiswa) dari angkatan pertama hingga co-assisten (dokter muda). Data dikumpulkan menggunakan Skala Sikap Terhadap Euthanasia. Data diolah dengan menggunakan uji statistika non parametrik Kruskal-Wallis yang menunjukkan nilai chi-square 2,378 dan p=0,667 (p>0,000) yang berarti tidak ada perbedaan sikap terhadap euthanasia ditinjau dari jenjang pendidikan pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran. Sebagian besar subjek memiliki sikap netral terhadap pelaksanaan praktik euthanasia. Hal tersebut dapat diartikan bahwa mahasiswa cenderung tidak berpihak atau tidak mendukung terhadap praktik euthanasia. Fakultas Kedokteran disarankan agar memberikan program-program yang menambah pengetahuan mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran tentang topik euthanasia.

Abstract

Tugas kelompok dalam perkuliahan dapat menimbulkan social loafing pada mahasiswa. Social loafing adalah kecenderungan seseorang untuk mengurangi usahanya ketika mengerjakan tugas secara kelompok dibandingkan ketika mereka dievaluasi secara personal. Intensi mahasiswa untuk melakukan social loafing diduga berhubungan dengan adversity quotient yang dimiliki oleh mahasiswa. Adversity quotient adalah kemampuan seseorang untuk bertahan dalam menghadapi dan mengatasi masalah, hambatan atau kesulitan yang dimilikinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara adversity quotient dengan intensi mahasiswa untuk melakukan social loafing pada tugas kelompok. Subyek penelitian adalah 85 orang mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Katolik Widya Mandala Surabaya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan skala intensi social loafing dan skala adversity quotient. Hasil analisa data menunjukkan nilai -0.299 dengan p < 0.001 sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada hubungan yang signifikan antara adversity quotient dengan intensi mahasiswa untuk melakukan social loafing pada tugas kelompok. Semakin tinggi adversity quotient yang dimiliki oleh mahasiswa maka semakin rendah intensi mahasiswa untuk melakukan social loafing pada tugas kelompok. Dosen disarankan untuk memberikan tugas-tugas perkuliahan yang dapat menstimulasi adversity quotient pada mahasiswa sehingga intensi mahasiswa untuk melakukan social loafing dapat menurun.

Abstract

AbstractUniversity students use internet in daily life ranging from learning, socializing and recreation purposes. Cyberslacking in the campus relates to the topic of non-academic media multitasking among university students. Media multitasking defines as connecting to more than one media simultaneously and cyberslacking is activities with media multitasking in the context of non-academic internet access during lectures. This present study will review some researches on cyberslacking and non-academic media multitasking in the context of university students. The review findings conclude that cyberslacking is also media multitasking in the context of non-academic internet access during lectures. Media multitasking could be distinguished between learning related activities and unlearning related activities and cyberslacking is regarded as unlearning related activities. Students who do cyberslacking mostly engage in social networking sites during media multitasking behaviors. Some studies discuss the impact of cyberslacking and non-media multitasking to academic performance. Other studies also mentioned about self regulation and self efficacy as important variables that relate to cyberslacking and non-academic media multitasking. Further researches on cyberslacking should be considered building theoretical model of cyberslacking in the educational setting as well as the development of measurement tools for academic cyberslacking behaviors. Keywords : cyberslacking, non-academic media multitasking, university students

Abstract

Cyberslacking in the educational context is defined as using internet in the classrooms for non-academic purpose during lectures. One of student cyberslacking scale was developed by Akbulut, Dursun, Dönmez, & Sahin through researches towards Turkey undergraduate students. This scale consists of items to measure non-academic internet access activities during lectures. Those activities are sharing, shopping, real time updating, accessing online content and gaming/ gambling. This study aims to adopt the Cyberslacking Scale of Akbulut dkk. in the context of undergraduate Indonesian students. Subjects for adopting this scale are 46 male and 156 female undergraduate university students (N=202) with age range between 18-23 years. Second order confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted to analyze this scale. The results showed that dimension of sharing, shopping, real time updating, accesing online content, and gaming/gambling dimension are positively represented cyberslacking construct. Thus the cyberslacking scale can be used in Indonesian educational context.

Abstract

Abstraksi Siswa tunarungu dapat mengalami kesulitan untuk belajar khususnya pada pelajaran Matematika. Prestasi belajar matematika adalah pencapaian yang dapat diamati yang berhubungan dengan proses belajar matematika. Salah satu faktor dari dalam diri siswa yang berpengaruh pada prestasi belajar matematika adalah self regulated learning (SRL). SRL adalah kemampuan peserta didik untuk mengaktifkan dan memfokuskan pikiran, perasan, tindakan serta melakukan perencanaan agar siswa dapat mencapai tujuan belajar yang dimilikinya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara SRL dengan prestasi belajar matematika pada siswa tunarungu di SMALB/B X. Subjek penelitian adalah 37 siswa tunarungu di SMALB/B X. Alat ukur yang digunakan untuk mengukur SRL adalah skala self regulated learning dan prestasi belajar dinilai melalui nilai ulangan harian dan nilai ujian tengah semester. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan r = 0,585 (p<0.05) sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada hubungan antara self regulated learning (SRL) dengan prestasi belajar matematika pada siswa di SMALB/B X. Sekolah disarankan untuk dapat merancang program yang dapat mengembangkan self regulated learning siswa sehingga prestasi belajar matematika siswa dapat meningkat. Kata Kunci:self regulated learning, prestasi belajar matematika, siswa tunarungu Abstract Deaf students might have difficulties in learning especially Mathematics. Mathematics achievement is student’s performance in learning mathematic. Regarding mathematics achievement, self regulated learning (SRL) is considered to be one of the important factors that contribute to mathematics achievement. SRL is defined as student’s  ability to activate and focus their thoughts, feelings, actions and plans to achieve their learning goals. This study aims to determine the relationship between self regulated learning and mathematics achievement of deaf students in SMALB/B X. Participants in this study are 37 deaf students in SMALB/B X. Self regulated learning scale is used to measure student’s self regulated learning while mathematics achievement is measured using daily mathematics tests and midterm exam scores. The results show that r = 0,585 (p<0.05) means that there is a significant relationship between self regulated learning (SRL) and student’s mathematics achievement in SMALB/B X. Schools should design self regulated learning training program for the students in order to optimize student’s mathematics achievement.   Keywords:self regulated learning, mathematics achievement, deaf students

Abstract

Diabetes melitus adalah kondisi kronis yang ditandai dengan peningkatan konsentrasi glukosa dalam darah disertai urine yang mengandung glukosa. Salah satu tipe dari diabetes melitus adalah tipe 2 atau non insulin dependent diabetes melitus. Pasien dengan kondisi diabetes melitus tipe 2 harus menjalani pengobatan agar kondisi gula darahnya tetap stabil. Keberhasilan pengobatan pasien dipengaruhi oleh regulasi diri yang dimiliki oleh pasien. Salah satu faktor eksternal yang mempengaruhi regulasi diri pasien adalah dukungan sosial dari keluarga. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat hubungan antara regulasi diri dengan dukungan sosial dari keluarga pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2. Subjek penelitian ini adalah pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2 (N=74) yang berdomisili di Surabaya. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan cara purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan skala regulasi diri dan skala dukungan sosial dari keluarga. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rxy=0,507 dan nilai p=0,000 (p<0,05). Dengan demikian ada hubungan yang signifikan antara regulasi diri dengan dukungan sosial dari keluarga pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2. Saran yang dapat diberikan adalah dukungan keluarga merupakan faktor yang penting untuk membantu pasien dalam meregulasi diri terkait pengobatan diabetes melitus tipe 2. Kata kunci:Regulasi diri, dukungan sosial dari keluarga, diabetes melitus tipe 2 Diabetes mellitus is a chronic condition characterized by increased concentration of glucose in the blood with urine containing glucose. One type of diabetes mellitus is type 2 or non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. Patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 must undergo treatment in order to achieve stable blood sugar level. Successful treatments are influenced by self-regulation of the patients. One of the external factors that affects the patient's self-regulation is the social support from family. This study aims to identify the relationship between self-regulation and family social suppport on patients diabetes mellitus type 2. Subjects of this study are patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 (N = 74) who live in Surabaya. Samples were taken by using purposive sampling technique. Self-regulation scale and Social support from family scale are used to collect the data. The results show that rxy = 0.507 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), means that there is a significant relationship between self-regulation and social support from family on patients with diabetes mellitus type 2. Social support from family is considered to be an important factor to encourage self-regulation of patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 when they undergo medical treatments.Keywords:Self regulation, social support from family, diabetes mellitus type 2

Abstract

The study aimed to examine the effects of guiding questions method on university students’ extrinsic motivation to study. The theory used was the ARCS model from Keller (1987) regarding extrinsic motivation to study. This study used a quasi-experimental method using a sample of 51 university students enrolled in General Psychology subject. Measurement used was an extrinsic motivation to study scale consisting of ARCS aspects which are attention, relevance, confidence, and satisfaction. Data was analysed using paired sample t-test and results showed that the guiding questions method was not effective to increase students’ extrinsic motivation to study. However, results also showed an increase in the ”satisfaction” aspect of extrinsic motivation to study following the guiding questions method.

Abstract

Online learning at home for vocational high school students triggers several problems, including academic cyberslacking. Academic cyberslacking is defined as students' internet access to things unrelated to the course materials during the class. Referring to this condition, vocational high school students need to have a better understanding of academic cyberslacking through training so that the students can control the emergence of academic cyberslacking during the class. This study explores the effect of positive learning attitude training on increasing the understanding of vocational high school students in academic cyberslacking. The participants of this study were 187 vocational high school students who participated in a positive learning attitude training. The results showed a value of Z = -3,306, p = 0.001 (p<0.05), so it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the understanding of academic cyberslacking before and after participating in positive learning attitude training of the vocational high school students. Students understand better the academic cyberslacking phenomenon after receiving positive learning attitude training.Situasi belajar daring di rumah pada siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan memicu beberapa permasalahan salah satunya adalah cyberslacking akademik. Cyberslacking akademik didefinisikan sebagai akses internet pada hal-hal tidak berhubungan dengan materi pelajaran yang sedang diikuti oleh siswa. Merujuk pada kondisi ini maka siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan perlu mendapatkan pemahaman mengenai cyberslacking akademik melalui suatu training sehingga siswa dapat mengendalikan kemunculan cyberslacking akademik saat mengikuti pelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh training positive learning attitude pada peningkatan pemahaman siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan pada cyberslacking akademik. Subjek penelitian adalah 187 siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan yang mengikuti training positive learning attitude. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai Z = -3.306, p = 0.001 (p<0.05) sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada pemahaman siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan pada cyberslacking akademik sebelum dan sesudah mengikuti training positive learning attitude. Pemahaman siswa pada fenomena cyberslacking akademik meningkat setelah mendapatkan training positive learning attitude.

Abstract

Ethnography has gained more popularity in psychological research in recent years. As one of the qualitative traditions, ethnography is best to describe the behaviour of group and group member deeply rooted in its culture and cultural values. This paper presents a literature review on the role, challenges, and opportunities in adopting ethnography in psychological research. Study examples are presented within which,types of ethnographical design to explore new psychological phenomena are discussed. Continous self-reflection for both researchers and participants and researcher’s flexibility of using data collection methods informed by researcher’s positionality and engagement are suggested to further advance rigour in the study findings.
