Abstract

This research aims to determine how to improve Class VIII students' literacy and numeracy skills at SMP Negeri 2 Mauponggo through the campus work program teaching Class VIII using the AKM method. This research is a qualitative descriptive study aimed at describing the literacy and numeracy skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Mauponggo, Nagekeo District, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The study took place over four months, from August to early December, using various data collection techniques, including interviews, observations, tests, and documentation. The students' literacy and numeracy skills were measured using the AKM test method, which was administered twice: a pretest at the beginning of the study and a posttest at the end, involving 20 students as the research subjects. Based on the results of the pretest that the students have done, the results are quite good. With the number of class VIII students being 20 people who got a percentage result of 44% low. Meanwhile, for the Numeracy results, the percentage was 22% very low criteria, while the average student score on the literacy and numeracy post-test experienced an increase in the students' AKM results, namely the percentage of students' literacy results was 80% high criteria. while the numeracy percentage results students reached 65% currently. With this, students' abilities in AKM literacy and numeracy at SMP Negeri 2 Mauponggo have increased. Thus, it is hoped that the school will maintain and create programs to increase student literacy and numeracy.

Abstract

The inter-grade Mathematics Olympiad (Cerdas Cermat Matematika) held at Citra Bakti Junior High School is a form of mentoring to improve the quality of mathematics learning and encourage the development of students' academic potential. This study aims to describe the implementation, impact, and effectiveness of this mentoring activity on students' academic and mental readiness. A qualitative approach was used, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The activity took place on May 21, 2025, involving 12 seventh and eighth grade students divided into four groups. The results showed that the structured mentoring program improved students' understanding of mathematical concepts, self-confidence, and critical and logical thinking skills in a competitive atmosphere. Furthermore, this activity instilled character values such as cooperation, responsibility, sportsmanship, and discipline. The active involvement of teachers, student interns, and school support were key factors in the success of this program. Therefore, the school-level Mathematics Olympiad can serve as a good practice in strengthening academic culture and 21st-century learning, emphasizing mastery of material and the development of students' soft skills.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to provide real contributions to the community through various activities with the aim of improving welfare, education, health and the environment. One of the activities to improve community welfare is through UMKM workshop activities. The purpose of the UMKM workshop activity is to increase the capacity of UMKM business groups through mentoring in the management and development of UMKM businesses and to solve various problems, such as marketing problems that are not yet optimal, the availability of supporting tools that are still incomplete and the right strategy in entrepreneurship. The implementation method in this activity is field observation, problem identification, preparation of activity plans, implementation, and evaluation. The implementation of mentoring activities includes workshop activities related to UMKM development strategies, in order to provide understanding and knowledge to business groups about the steps in developing UMKM businesses. The results of this workshop activity are expected that business actors and students are able to understand the material provided and are able to apply it in entrepreneurship.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menambah pemahaman  guru matematika dalam membuat soal tes yang berbasis Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) dan terintegrasi dengan etnomatematika Ngadhu Bhaga. Kegiatan ini berlangsung pada tanggal 19 hingga 20 Agustus 2025, yang diikuti oleh 40 orang guru matematika dan 3 orang pengawas. Kegiatan ini melibatkan dua dosen dan satu mahasiswa dari Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika STKIP Citra Bakti. Metode yang digunakan mencakup penyampaian informasi, pemaparan materi, bimbingan, diskusi, latihan membuat soal, serta evaluasi. Materi yang diberikan meliputi konsep HOTS, pengenalan etnomatematika Ngadhu Bhaga, serta cara mengintegrasikan etnomatematika Ngadhu Bhaga  ke dalam soal-soal matematika. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman guru meningkat dengan skor 3,80 (kategori paham), efektivitas bimbingan mencapai skor 3,95 (efektif), materi yang sesuai dengan kurikulum memiliki skor 4,00 (sangat sesuai), kebermanfaatan kegiatan sebesar 3,75 (bermanfaat), dan kepuasan peserta mencapai skor 3,90 (sangat puas). Namun, ada beberapa kendala yang dihadapi, seperti keterbatasan referensi, kesulitan dalam mengembangkan budaya lokal dalam soal HOTS, serta minimnya pengalaman para guru (skor 2,50). Kegiatan ini disarankan untuk dilanjutkan dengan pelatihan lanjutan, pengembangan bank soal berbasis etnomatematika, serta integrasi ke dalam program MGMP Matematika.

Abstract

Abstract:  The purpose of this community service activity is to improve the ability of mathematics teachers in developing ethnomathematics-based mathematics teaching modules by providing mentoring to teachers in developing teaching modules. This activity was carried out at Citra Bakti High School with 10 Mathematics Teachers who are members of the MGMP in Golewa District. The approach used in this activity was Interviews, Face-to-face, and direct mentoring which was carried out in July 2025. The methods used in this activity included evaluation workshops and reflective discussions with teachers and students to obtain constructive feedback. Evaluation was carried out based on aspects of material feasibility, learning effectiveness, and integration of local cultural values in mathematical concepts. The data collection instrument used in this Community Service activity was a participant response questionnaire with a Likert scale category on a 4-point scale, namely very good, good, less good, and very less good. Data were analyzed referring to indicators, namely participant satisfaction, material relevance, and usefulness. The results of the mentoring activity showed that the satisfaction aspect showed a very good response, the relevance of the material was very good, and the usefulness of the material was very good.Abstrak: Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru matematika dalam mengembangkan modul ajar matematika berbasis etnomatematika dengan cara memberikan pendampingan terhadap guru dalam mengembangkan modul ajar. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di SMA Citra Bakti dengan 8 Guru Matematika yang tergabung dalam MGMP di Kecamatan Golewa. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah Wawancara, Tatap muka, dan pendampingan langsung yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli 2025. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini mencakup workshop evaluasi dan diskusi reflektif bersama guru dan siswa untuk mendapatkan umpan balik yang konstruktif. Evaluasi dilakukan berdasarkan aspek kelayakan materi, efektivitas pembelajaran, dan keterpaduan nilai budaya lokal dalam konsep matematika.Instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini adalah angket respon peserta dengan kategori skala likert pada skala 4 poin yaitu sangat baik, baik, kurang baik, dan sangat kurang baik. Data dianalisis mengacu pada indikator yaitu kepuasan peserta, relevansi materi, dan kebermanfaatan. Hasil kegiatan pendampingan menunjukkan aspek kepuasan menunjukkan respon sangat baik, relevansi materi sangat baik, dan kebermanfaatan materi sangat baik.

Abstract

Mathematics learning, particularly at the junior secondary level, is often perceived as abstract and difficult, which can reduce students’ motivation and engagement. One instructional strategy that has the potential to address this issue is the use of YouTube-based instructional video media. This study aims to describe teachers’ and students’ interpretations of the use of video media in mathematics learning at SMP Negeri Satap 1 Bajawa, as well as to identify the challenges encountered during its implementation. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with mathematics teachers and students, and documentation of learning activities. The data were analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the use of YouTube-based video media positively influences the learning process by increasing students’ motivation, focus, and conceptual understanding of mathematical material. Students perceived video-based learning as more interesting and enjoyable compared to conventional instruction, and they appreciated the ability to replay learning content independently. Teachers reported that video media supported clearer explanations of abstract concepts and improved student engagement. However, several challenges were identified, including limited availability of supporting facilities and the pace of explanations in some videos, which were considered too fast for certain students. Overall, the study concludes that YouTube-based instructional video media have strong potential to support more meaningful and contextual mathematics learning, particularly in schools with limited resources, provided that the content and implementation are adapted to students’ learning needs..

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the instructional needs and perceived usefulness of ethnomathematics-based learning modules in senior high school mathematics. The focus is placed on curriculum alignment, integration of local cultural contexts, and the potential of these modules to support contextual and meaningful learning experiences for both teachers and students. Method: A descriptive mixed-methods design was employed, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches. The participants consisted of four mathematics teachers and twenty students drawn from four senior high schools in the Golewa region. Data were collected using closed-ended questionnaires based on a four point Likert scale to capture perceptions related to instructional needs, relevance, and usefulness of ethnomathematics based modules. To enrich and validate the quantitative data, semi-structured interviews were conducted with selected participants. Quantitative data were analyzed using percentage-based Likert index calculations, while qualitative data were analyzed descriptively to support interpretation of the findings. Findings: The results indicate that the availability of ethnomathematics-based teaching modules in senior high school mathematics remains limited. From the teachers’ perspective, the average needs score reached 85.5%, highlighting strong demands for contextual learning resources aligned with the curriculum and local culture. From the students’ perspective, the perceived usefulness score averaged 82%, indicating positive responses toward increased engagement, improved conceptual understanding, and stronger connections between mathematics and everyday life. Significance: The findings demonstrate that ethnomathematics-based learning modules represent a valuable instructional innovation with the potential to enhance the quality of mathematics learning. This study provides empirical evidence to inform the development of culturally responsive and context-based learning resources that support meaningful mathematics education.
