Abstract

The number of seaweed cultivators on Lemukutan Island is increasing, this is because people who were previously fishermen are also interested in this business. There are more than 30 seaweed cultivators, the seaweed cultivation business is divided into several types of activities, namely seaweed maintenance, seaweed drying, seaweed processing and seaweed processing sellers. The seaweed cultivated is Eucheuma Cottonii with a production of around 30 tons/year. The results of seaweed production, seaweed drying and seaweed marketing have not been optimally carried out by the cultivator group because the problem is that the harvest results from seaweed cultivation are less than optimal due to the presence of pests in the form of turtles and rabbitfish which will cause the amount of seaweed production obtained. The solution offered to overcome this problem is training on the implementation of a semi-intensive system of seaweed maintenance using floating cage technology with overlay nets.

Abstract

Sorrah shark (Carharhinus sorrah) is one of the catch types that is landed at the Nusantara Pemangkat Fishing Port.  This research was conducted to determine the dynamics of the sorrah shark population caught in the WPP 711 fishery management area. This research was carried out from August to October 2023 at TPI, precisely at the Nusantara Pemangkat Fishing Port, Pemangkat District, Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan.  The method used in this research is a survey. This research used primary and secondary data.  The data collected includes the number of catches (kg), total catch (tails), total length of sharks, weight of sharks and gender.  The ship sampling used purposive sampling and 10% random sampling method.  A total of 152 sharks were landed, consisting of 89 male sharks and 63 female sharks.  With a length range of male sharks 56-79 cm with female sharks 57-74 cm long.  The results of the shark length and weight relationship test showed that the growth pattern of the sorrah shark was negative allometric and had an unbalanced male: female sex ratio of 1.4: 1.Keywords: Allometric; Catch; Long Size; Sex Ratio; Sorrah shark

Abstract

Abstract

The number of seaweed farmers on Lemukutan Island is increasing, this is because people who were previously fishermen are also interested in this business. Seaweed cultivation businesses are divided into several types of activities, namely seaweed maintenance, seaweed drying, seaweed processing and selling processed seaweed. The time required for the seaweed drying process depends on the weather, because the drying process is under sunlight. This condition hampers seaweed sales and decreases the quality of the seaweed. A total of 15 participants who attended were able to understand the concept of UV sauna seaweed drying technology 90%, skills in the method of making UV sauna seaweed drying technology 80%.

Abstract

The Tanap River is a river in Ngoyok Mandiri Hamlet, Tanap Village, Sanggau District. The Tanap River is used by local villagers for daily needs such as bathing and washing clothes. Apart from that, people usually catch fish for comsumption. The aim of this research is to determine the structure of the fish community in the Tanap River. Samples were collected using trawls, fishing rods, and traps in the June and July 2024. The method used for this research was purpose sampling. Result of research conducted in the Tanap River obtained 16 species of fish consisting of 9 families, namely Clariidae, Bagridae, Belonidae, Nandidae, Osphronemidae, Mastacembelidae, Channidae, Cyprinidae, dan Anabantidae. The highest abundance value of fish species is stove fish (Puntius tetrazona) with a value of 16,71%, while the lowest abundance value of fish (mastacembelus erythrotaenia) with a value of 0,51%, the fish diversity index value ranges from 2,43 "“ 2,53 is categorized as medium diversity. The uniformity index value ranges between 0,90 "“ 0,93 with high criteria, and the dominance index value ranges from 0,09 "“ 0,11 which means dominating other species.  Keywords : Fish community structure, Tanap River
