Abstract

The 2025 Los Angeles wildfires reflect the serious challenges of disaster management in the era of climate change. Increasing extreme temperatures and droughts have exacerbated the frequency and intensity of fires, resulting in significant damage to the environment, public health, and local economies. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of firefighting resources and identify community responses to the disaster. The methods used are content analysis of news from mass media and observation of community responses through social media. Samples were taken purposively from relevant news and posts during the fire incident. The results showed that more than 8,500 firefighters were deployed, utilizing somewhat effective air and ground extinguishing strategies, which increased fire control from 14% to 24% within a few days. On the other hand, 205,000 residents were successfully evacuated, indicating a high level of public awareness and preparedness. Approximately 65% of residents were also actively involved in fire prevention efforts, with social media serving as the primary means of disseminating information. In conclusion, the success of fire control is greatly influenced by resource coordination and community participation. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of more responsive and collaborative fire mitigation strategies in the future, particularly in the context of growing risks associated with climate change.

Abstract

MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) play an essential role in the economies of developing countries. However, they often face difficulties in accessing financing that aligns with sustainable finance and Sharia principles. Musharakah financing, based on the principle of profit sharing, is an alternative that can support the development of MSMEs, particularly in developing countries that prioritize the Sharia economy. This research aims to analyze the integration of musharakah financing in the development of MSMEs in developing countries, as well as evaluate the benefits and challenges related to the application of sharia principles and sustainable finance in this context. This research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing case studies in several developing countries, including Indonesia and Malaysia. Data were collected through interviews with MSME actors, Islamic financial institutions, and relevant government agencies. The analysis was carried out by comparing musharakah financing practices in the MSME sector and their impact on business sustainability. The results of the research indicate that musharakah financing can enhance MSMEs' access to capital in a more equitable and sustainable manner. However, the main challenges include a lack of understanding of Sharia concepts and regulatory barriers that hinder optimal development. Musharakah financing has demonstrated the potential to stimulate local and global economic growth when supported by the right policies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of organizational commitment in improving employee performance at the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower. The approach employed is qualitative, utilizing a case study method that involves interviews, questionnaires, and observations. The study's results indicate that organizational commitment has a significant impact on employee performance. Supportive leadership, career development facilities, and rewards for performance have proven to be key factors in strengthening employee commitment. Employees who feel valued and have opportunities to grow tend to perform better. However, despite the generally high level of commitment, the results of the questionnaire indicate that career development facilities still require improvement. This study suggests that the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower should strengthen its human resource development policies, particularly in terms of training and performance awards, to maintain and enhance employee commitment and performance. These findings contribute to human resource management in the government sector and provide the basis for further research in a broader context.
