Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method in improving the maharah qira’ah (reading skills) of fifth-grade students at SD Islam Assalam Bandar Lampung. A quasi-experimental design was employed, with two groups: an experimental class using the CIRC method and a control class using conventional teaching methods. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test assessments. The results indicate that the CIRC method significantly enhances students' reading comprehension, as evidenced by a higher N-Gain score in the experimental class compared to the control class. The CIRC method encourages active student participation through group discussions, summarization, and peer-assisted learning, leading to improved reading comprehension and engagement. The study also highlights the potential of cooperative learning strategies in Arabic language education, particularly in fostering critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving. Despite its effectiveness, some challenges were identified, such as ensuring equal participation among students and managing class time efficiently. This study contributes to the adaptation of the CIRC method in Arabic language learning at the elementary level, an area that has received limited research attention. It recommends that teachers integrate CIRC as an alternative instructional strategy to enhance students' Arabic reading skills. Future research should explore the integration of digital learning tools with CIRC to further optimize its effectiveness in the modern educational context.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Silent Way method in Arabic language learning using picture card media to enhance vocabulary mastery among sixth-grade students at SD Islam Assalam Bandar Lampung. This study employs a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles. Data were collected through vocabulary mastery tests, observations, and interviews with teachers and students. The findings indicate that the Silent Way method combined with picture card media significantly improves students’ vocabulary acquisition. In the first cycle, the mastery level reached 60%, whereas in the second cycle, it increased to 88%, demonstrating substantial improvement. This method also enhances student engagement and motivation in Arabic language learning. In conclusion, the Silent Way method with picture card media can serve as an effective alternative strategy to improve vocabulary mastery among elementary school students. This study recommends the broader implementation of this method and further exploration of technology integration in its application.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of integrating the "Everyone is a Teacher Here" (ETH) strategy with audio-visual media to enhance Arabic speaking skills (Maharah Kalam) among fifth-grade students at MIS Mathla’ul Anwar, Padang Cermin. Employing Classroom Action Research (CAR) over two cycles, the study involved 20 students as participants. Data were collected through pre-tests, post-tests, structured observations, interviews, and documentation. The findings revealed significant improvements in students' speaking proficiency, with average scores increasing from 61.5 in the pre-test to 67.85 in Cycle 1 and 76.65 in Cycle 2. The passing rate rose from 25% to 95%, indicating substantial progress in fluency, vocabulary usage, and confidence. Observational data highlighted increased student engagement, collaboration, and active participation, while audio-visual media provided contextual and interactive learning experiences. This research aligns with previous studies demonstrating the benefits of cooperative learning and multimedia in language education but offers a novel contribution by integrating these approaches. By situating the intervention in a rural Indonesian context, the study addresses a critical gap in the literature and provides a scalable model for improving language instruction in under-resourced settings. The findings emphasize the transformative potential of combining innovative pedagogical strategies to create inclusive, engaging, and effective learning environments. Future research should explore its application across diverse linguistic and cultural contexts to generalize its efficacy.

Abstract

This study examines the application of the Audio-Lingual Method (ALM) to improve Muhadatsah (Arabic speaking) skills in second-year students at MA Darussalam, South Lampung. Utilizing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, the study was conducted in two cycles, incorporating tests, observations, and documentation as the primary data collection methods. Quantitative data analysis revealed a significant improvement in students' Muhadatsah abilities, particularly in pronunciation, fluency, and vocabulary usage, as measured in pre- and post-tests. The results indicate that ALM, with its emphasis on repetitive drills and speaking exercises, effectively enhances Arabic speaking skills, making it a valuable approach for Arabic language education.

Abstract

The peer tutoring cooperative learning model has been widely applied to enhance reading skills (maharah qira'ah) in Arabic language education. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness, challenges, and opportunities of this model through a systematic literature review. Data were collected from 12 journal articles published between 2020 and 2024, analyzed using a thematic synthesis approach. The results reveal that peer tutoring significantly improves students’ reading fluency, pronunciation accuracy, and text comprehension. These improvements are influenced by active interactions between tutors and students, as well as a supportive learning environment. However, challenges such as difficulty in selecting competent tutors and unbalanced group dynamics remain significant barriers to implementation. Additionally, the study found that students involved in peer tutoring demonstrated higher learning motivation compared to those in conventional methods. The novelty of this research lies in its focus on elementary education (madrasah ibtidaiyah) and oral reading skills (qiroah jahriyah), which are rarely explored in previous studies. This study concludes that peer tutoring is an effective strategy to enhance students’ maharah qira'ah, particularly at the elementary level. Recommendations are provided for developing more structured tutor training and integrating technology to support this model in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the cooperative learning model Talking Stick in enhancing students' learning interest in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMK Negeri 7 Bandar Lampung. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest approach involving 24 students. The learning-interest questionnaire instrument was validated, resulting in 12 valid items with a reliability coefficient of 0.861. The learning process was implemented through several sessions following the structured stages of the Talking Stick model and subsequently analyzed using statistical tests to examine significant differences between pretest and posttest scores. The findings indicate an increase in learning interest, particularly in student engagement, confidence in answering questions, and interest in PAI content. The novelty of this research lies in the application of the Talking Stick model to strengthen religious learning interest at the vocational high school level, as well as in improving the previously weak indicator of learning interest, namely “interest.” These findings contribute to the development of more engaging, collaborative activity-based instructional strategies for PAI that align with the characteristics of vocational students and effectively support the formation of religious attitudes and understanding.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dimaksudkan guna menganalisis efektivitas model pembelajaran berbasis ARCS (Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction) sebagai strategi untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa dalam pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI), terutama pada aspek kesenangan bekerja mandiri siswa SMKN 8 Bandar Lampung. Dalam penelitian ini diterapkan metode kuasi eksperimen menggunakan desain posttest-only control group, di mana kelas eksperimen menerima penerapan model ARCS sementara kelas control tetap menggunakan pendekatan konvensional. Data dikumpulkan melalui instrumen angket motivasi belajar yang telah melalui uji validitas dan reliabilitas, selanjutnya data dianilisis dengan uji t-test pooled variance. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, penerapan model ARCS secara signifikan meningkatkan motivasi belajar Siswa dibandingkan pembelajaran konvensional. Siswa menunjukkan peningkatan perhatian, relevansi materi dengan kehidupan nyata, kepercayaan diri dalam menyelesaikan tugas, serta kepuasan belajar yang mendorong kemandirian. Kebaruan kajian ini terletak pada penerapan model ARCS dalam konteks pembelajaran PAI di SMK dengan fokus pada motivasi belajar mandiri yang jarang dikaji dalam penelitian sebelumnya. Implikasi penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa model ARCS dapat menjadi alternatif strategis dalam pengembangan pembelajaran PAI yang bersifat lebih kontekstual, motivasional, dan berorientasi pada pengembangan karakter serta kemandirian belajar siswa, sehingga berkontribusi pada pengembangan kajian pedagogik berbasis motivasi dalam pendidikan agama.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas model pembelajaran Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) terhadap motivasi belajar Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) peserta didik SMP Negeri 31 Bandar Lampung. Latar belakang penelitian didasari oleh rendahnya motivasi belajar siswa, khususnya pada aspek ulet menghadapi kesulitan yang hanya mencapai 15% berdasarkan hasil pra-penelitian. Metode yang digunakan adalah quasi experimental design dengan model posttest-only control group design. Sampel ditentukan melalui simple random sampling, dengan kelas VII G sebagai kelas eksperimen yang diajar menggunakan CIRC dan kelas VII J sebagai kelas kontrol dengan metode ceramah. Instrumen penelitian berupa angket motivasi belajar dengan 15 item pernyataan skala Likert yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya (α = 0,823). Analisis data menggunakan uji t-test pooled variance setelah memenuhi asumsi normalitas dan homogenitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara motivasi belajar siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Penerapan CIRC terbukti mampu meningkatkan motivasi belajar, terutama pada aspek ulet menghadapi kesulitan, serta mendorong keterlibatan aktif siswa dalam diskusi, kerja sama kelompok, dan penyelesaian tugas. Kebaruan penelitian ini terletak pada penerapan CIRC dalam pembelajaran PAI di tingkat SMP, yang umumnya masih didominasi metode konvensional. Implikasi penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa CIRC dapat menjadi alternatif strategi pembelajaran inovatif untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar PAI sekaligus memperkuat nilai kolaborasi, tanggung jawab, dan ketekunan siswa.
