Abstract

In the era of globalized tourism, destinations function not only as geographic spaces but as communicative platforms for cultural exchange. This study examines how place branding elements—brand image, cultural authenticity, and community engagement—influence revisit intention through the mediating roles of perceived cultural exchange and destination identity alignment. Drawing on theories of intercultural communication and symbolic interactionism, a structural equation modelling approach using PLS-SEM was applied to data collected from 235 tourists visiting culturally significant destinations in Indonesia. The results reveal that perceived cultural exchange is the strongest predictor of revisit intention, while cultural authenticity and brand image significantly shape identity alignment and intercultural engagement. Community involvement was also found to impact perceived cultural exchange positively. The findings offer theoretical contributions by reconceptualizing place branding as a dialogic and identity-forming process and practical implications for designing culturally responsive branding strategies rooted in local narratives and community participation.

Abstract

This study aims to introduce dance learning media using Augmented Reality with Movement Literacymaterial based on Laban Notation symbols for junior high school students. The background of thestudy is based on the low interest of students in learning dance and difficulties in understanding theelements of space, time, and energy due to the limitations of conventional media that are not inaccordance with the characteristics of the digital generation. The method used is research anddevelopment (R&D) with initial stages including needs analysis, product design, productdevelopment, implementation through limited trials, and product evaluation. The product developedis an Augmented Reality (AR) application that presents movement literacy based on Laban Notationin an interactive 3D form, so that students can learn movement visually, kinesthetically, andreflectively. Initial results based on needs analysis and the designed product show that theapplication is considered interesting, easy to use, and helps understand basic dance movements, andis in accordance with the characteristics of students in the digital era. Teachers gave positiveresponses to the potential of this media as a supporter of deep learning that is conscious, meaningful, and enjoyable. Thus, it is hoped that the AR-Motion Literacy application can be an innovativealternative in dance learning, especi

Abstract

This Research and Development (R&D) study, conducted using the ADDIE model, focused on theAnalysis Phase to address the main learning barrier in Dance Arts in Junior High Schools (SMP):the high difficulty of Phase D students in understanding the Essence of Movement (space, time, energy) and the abstract Laban Notation symbols. Data collected from 20 students and 2 teachers inSerang City indicated an extreme level of difficulty in abstract concepts (85.5% - 87.0%), inverselyproportional to the students' strong interest (92.5%) and readiness for high-tech devices (95.0%) fordigital learning. The goal was to validate the urgency and specify the functional requirements of thesolution. The results confirmed the urgent need for instructional media capable of bridging theabstract (Laban symbols) with the kinesthetic (3D motion). These findings led to the FunctionalSpecifications of Augmented Reality (AR) Media - Motion Literacy. The AR media must specificallyvisualize the interactive and real-time relationship between Laban symbols and 3D motion elements. This AR media is expected to concretize abstract concepts, support the "Create" competency in theIndependent Curriculum, and enable meaningful and enjoyable in-depth learning for 21st-centurylearners. The study concludes with a development plan for the next Design and Development phase.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an incubation model to improve curator’s competencies on new media art curatorial practice. The incubation model contains a series of learning modules by which Indonesian young curators acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills to develop and execute a new media art curatorial project. This research used a qualitative approach with a method of design-based research. The research process includes analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation. After analysing the mentees’ curatorial competencies, incubation model was designed based on four steps of curation: (1) Concept Development, (2) Artwork Selection, (3) Exhibition Design, and (4) Exhibition Communication. The research participants include 8 mentors, 9 mentees, and 3 facilitators for June mentorship, and 3 mentors, 2 curators, 4 artists, and 4 organizers for November exhibition. Data were collected through participatory observation, document studies, and personal reflection, which were interpreted through content analysis method. The result of the research is that implementing the four steps of curation in the new media art curator incubation model led to an improvement in 10 curatorial competencies for two mentees, and mostly 8 curatorial competencies for seven mentees. However, the limitation of this research is that ARCOLABS, the incubator, provided different levels of management to its mentees. Therefore, the research recommends that ARCOLABS should ensure fair treatment to all mentees to properly evaluate the improvement of curatorial competencies. For future research, the new media art curator incubation model should be redesigned and appropriately implemented to meet the required curatorial competencies.
