Abstract

Modernization and globalization have brought significant changes in the social life of the community, including in the aspect of language and communication. Sumbarang Village, Jatinegara Subdistrict, Tegal Regency, is one of the villages that still maintains its local wisdom, especially in the use of Javanese manners as a form of politeness in communication. However, the widespread influence of social media has caused a language shift that leads to a decrease in the use of Javanese manners, especially among the younger generation. This study aims to analyze how the use of social media affects changes in the communication patterns of the people of Sumbarang Village and the extent to which language shifts occur in everyday life. Using a qualitative approach with in-depth observation and interview methods, this study found that the use of social media accelerates the influx of informal language as well as new terms that replace traditional forms of communication. Children and teenagers are using Javanese manners less and less in their daily conversations, even with their parents. This is influenced by exposure to Indonesian and slang which are more dominant in digital interactions. This research shows that language shift is not just a linguistic phenomenon, but also reflects changes in cultural values and identity. Therefore, there needs to be an effort to revitalize Javanese manners through education and local communities so that language politeness remains part of the identity of the people of Sumbarang Village.

Abstract

Difficulties in demonstrating drawing-related learning pose a challenge for teachers at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Swasta (MIS) Al-Hilal Dender. This study aims to develop teachers' competencies in drawing and Colouring at MIS Al-Hilal Dender, Banda Neira, using kosa rupa as a visual aid. This medium serves as a teaching tool to enhance teachers' creativity and skills in delivering visual arts education at the elementary school level. The research adopts a qualitative case study approach, involving three teachers as primary participants. The training was conducted using the GROW Coaching Model strategy, which consists of four stages: goal, reality, options, and will. In the goal stage, teachers formulate their learning objectives for drawing and Colouring. The reality stage identifies the teachers’ initial drawing skills before training. The options stage explores alternative solutions through mentoring and training using kosa rupa. The final stage, will, focuses on implementing the training outcomes in classroom instruction. The findings indicate a significant improvement in teachers’ drawing and Colouring abilities after the training. Evaluation was conducted based on composition, perspective, and Colouring aspects, showing an increase in scores from the initial to the final stage. Teachers’ responses to kosa rupa as a teaching medium were overwhelmingly positive, with increased confidence in delivering visual arts lessons. This study affirms that incorporating kosa rupa within the GROW Coaching Model strategy can be an effective method for enhancing elementary school teachers’ visual arts competencies. It is hoped that this approach can be widely implemented to support teacher development across various regions.

Abstract

Historical Study of Pegayaman Village, Buleleng, Bali This journal examines the origin of Pegayaman Village, Buleleng, Bali, through a conceptual study of its history. This research is motivated by the lack of conceptual understanding of village history for the younger generation and the need for regeneration of local historians. The exploratory qualitative research method was applied with a focus on Banjar Dinas Barat Jalan, Pegayaman Village. Primary data was obtained through interviews and direct observations, while secondary data was obtained through observation and interviews with the main source. The results of the study show that the origin of Pegayaman Village is divided into 5 phases: 1. Threat and Conflict Phase: Pegayaman Village became a fortress for the defense of the Buleleng Kingdom from the attacks of the southern kingdom. 2. Recruitment Phase of 100 Muslim Laskar Blambangan: The Kingdom of Buleleng received the assistance of 100 Muslim Laskar from Blambangan to guard its territory. 3. Appreciation Phase with the Handover of Gatep Forest: Muslim soldiers were given gatep forest land as a form of appreciation for their services. 4. Phase of Naming the Area into Pegayaman Village: The name "Pegayaman" comes from the word "gayam", referring to the gatep fruit and keris gayaman, a symbol of strength and resilience. 5. Strategic Phase of Pegayaman as a Fortress of Defense, Identity Formulation and Value Conservation: Pegayaman Village has developed into a village with 6 superior identities, such as a historical village, an old village, a warrior village, and an acculturative village. This journal concludes that Pegayaman Village has a rich and unique history, formed through the acculturation of Islamic-Hindu culture and religion. This village is a real example of tolerance between religious communities in Bali, with a rich cultural heritage and tradition as a result of the acculturation.
