Abstract

Digitalization plays a transformative role in improving public service delivery and information dissemination, particularly in rural areas. This study explores the implementation of digitalization in Sumurkondang Village, Cirebon, and its effects on administrative efficiency, accessibility, and community involvement. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design, the research involved in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that digitalization improves service quality and ease of access, particularly among younger residents. However, challenges such as low digital literacy among older populations, limited infrastructure, and lack of awareness hinder widespread adoption. Despite some basic digital training conducted by the village government, participation remains low, and skepticism toward digital platforms persists among older users. The study concludes that while digitalization holds great promise for rural development, its success depends on inclusive training, stronger infrastructure, and active community engagement. Recommendations include targeted digital literacy programs, improved internet access, and collaborative efforts between local governments and external partners. These efforts can foster sustainable digital transformation and serve as a model for similar rural communities in Indonesia.

Method: The textbook chosen for this research is the one published by the Ministry of Education, When English Rings a Bell, for grade 8 of junior high school. As for the data, they were taken from every chapter’s directions. They were analysed by implementing content analysis to detect the presence of technology literacy indicators in the textbook’s directions. Findings: Based on the results of the analysis, EFL textbook directions need the author’s initiative to modify them so that they can fit the ICT development indicators by adding more sentences related to applying presentation software usage and sharing information through online platforms. It is because the more literate the students in operating, accessing, managing, integrating, and evaluating modern technologies, especially ICT, the bigger their chances become in learning English successfully.

Abstract

The adoption of digital tools in agriculture has brought significant changes, especially among traditional farmers who often rely on established practices. While digital innovations such as mobile applications, precision farming, and data analytics promise enhanced productivity and sustainability, their acceptance varies widely among farmers. This study aims to explore traditional farmers' perceptions of digital tools, focusing on factors influencing adoption, challenges in integration, and the potential benefits. A qualitative research approach was employed, using in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with a purposively selected sample of traditional farmers. Data were analyzed thematically to capture insights into attitudes, barriers, and the socio-cultural impact of digital tools on traditional practices. Findings reveal that farmers’ perceptions range from skepticism to conditional acceptance, often influenced by age, digital literacy, and cultural attachment. Key challenges include language barriers, technical complexity, and costs, with younger farmers demonstrating greater openness to adopting digital solutions. Additionally, results suggest that consistent training and support are critical for enhancing adoption rates, enabling farmers to balance traditional practices with modern tools. These insights provide practical implications for policymakers and technology developers, underscoring the need for localized training and adaptable digital solutions. This research emphasizes the importance of understanding and addressing traditional farmers' perspectives in promoting sustainable agricultural transformation.
