Abstract

This study explores strategies to enhance graduate employability in Indonesia’s Islamic-based universities and state universities. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with university managers, lecturers, students, and alumni, supported by documentation studies and participatory observations. Thematic coding and data triangulation were used to analyze the data, ensuring the depth and validity of findings. The results reveal distinct institutional approaches: Islamic universities emphasize character development and work ethics rooted in spiritual values through programs like tahfiz-based leadership training and religious mentoring, while state universities focus on strengthening technical competencies and industry networks through structured internships and career development centers. Despite these differences, both institutions actively align higher education with labor market needs. This research contributes to the theoretical discourse on employability by introducing a new conceptual framework that integrates spiritual values with professional skills. The framework includes three core components: values-based curriculum integration, collaborative industry engagement, and holistic graduate profiling. These findings offer insights for policymakers and educators in developing inclusive and contextually relevant higher education models in pluralistic societies.

Abstract

Collective narcissism, a form of group identification defined by an exaggerated belief in the ingroup’s unrecognized greatness and a defensive need for external validation, is a significant area of social psychological inquiry. While research has grown since its formal conceptualization, a comprehensive synthesis is needed. This systematic review, adhering to PRISMA guidelines, synthesizes empirical findings from 24 studies identified via Scopus concerning the antecedents and consequences of collective narcissism. Findings reveal that collective narcissism is influenced by both individual-level factors—such as individual narcissism, low or unstable self-esteem, need for uniqueness, and Dark Triad-related personality traits—and contextual factors, including perceived intergroup threat, political orientation, lower levels of globalization, and culturally embedded historical narratives. In turn, this form of group identification consistently predicts a wide range of negative outcomes. These include intergroup hostility, prejudice, aggressive behaviors, support for populist and authoritarian political positions, conspiracy belief endorsement, and detrimental intragroup dynamics, such as objectification and reduced psychological well-being. The review underscores the importance of distinguishing collective narcissism from secure ingroup identification, highlighting its uniquely defensive and compensatory mechanisms. Implications for theory and practice are discussed, with recommendations for future longitudinal and experimental studies to clarify causal pathways and inform interventions. Overall, our synthesis contributes to a deeper understanding of how collective narcissism fuels intergroup conflict and undermines societal cohesion.

Abstract

Student organizations require effective problem-solving skills to navigate challenges and achieve their goals. This community service activity was conducted in response to identified issues within the Himpunan Mahasiswa Program Studi Komunikasi dan Penyiaran Islam (HMPS KPI) at UIN Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda, including unclear task divisions and misaligned work programs. Adopting an experiential learning approach, 16 members attended the training, which centered on using a fishbone analysis diagram to deconstruct organizational problems. The program's effectiveness was assessed using two levels of the Kirkpatrick evaluation model. Level 1 (reaction) was measured via a satisfaction questionnaire, and Level 2 (cognitive) was measured using a pre-test and post-test design analyzed with a paired sample t-test. The results indicated a highly positive reaction from participants, with 100% rating the training material and benefits as excellent. The cognitive evaluation showed an 8% increase in participants' understanding, with the mean score improving from 58.25 (pre-test) to 66.25 (post-test). Although this increase was not statistically significant (p > 0.05), qualitative feedback confirmed that the training positively impacted the organization by fostering increased participation and enhancing members’ problem-solving abilities. The training successfully provided practical skills, leading to improved organizational dynamics and performance.
