Abstract

Abstract Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is still a health problem throughout the world, including in Indonesia because the death rate from this disease is still high. This research is a study that will analyze the relationship between diet and lifestyle and the incidence of anemia in hemodialysis patients at the PKU Muhammadiyah Mayong Hospital, Jepara. In this research the researcher will use a quantitative type of research. The population in this study were all chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy in 2024, totaling 72 patients in the hemodialysis room at PKU Muhammadiyah Mayong Hospital, Jepara. The sampling technique used in this research was purposive sampling technique. Sample calculations using the Slovin formula were 61 respondents. The instrument is a food frequency and knowledge questionnaire. Data analysis used the chi square test. Results of the study showed that there was a relationship between eating frequency (p=0.000), age (p=0.002) and knowledge (p=0.002) with the incidence of anemia in hemodialysis patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Mayong Jepara Hospital.

Abstract

Background: Febrile seizures are among the most common neurological emergencies in children and are closely associated with a rapid increase in body temperature. Prompt fever management is essential to reduce the risk of recurrent seizures and other complications. In addition to pharmacological treatment, complementary non-pharmacological interventions such as warm compresses and lavender aromatherapy have been suggested to enhance fever management. However, evidence regarding the combined effectiveness of these interventions remains limited. Purpose: To determine the effect of warm compresses combined with lavender aromatherapy on body temperature among children with febrile seizures treated in the emergency department. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design. A total of 32 children with febrile seizures were recruited using purposive sampling and allocated into an intervention group (n=16) and a control group (n=16). The intervention group received warm compresses combined with lavender aromatherapy, while the control group received routine care. Body temperature was measured before and after the intervention using a digital thermometer. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests to evaluate within-group differences and independent t-tests to compare outcomes between groups, with a significance level of p<0.05. Results: The mean body temperature in the intervention group decreased significantly from 39.1 ± 0.62°C before the intervention to 37.1 ± 0.62°C after the intervention (p<0.001), representing a mean reduction of 2.0°C. In contrast, the control group showed a non-significant decrease from 38.8 ± 0.45°C to 38.6 ± 0.45°C (p=0.051). Comparison between groups demonstrated a statistically significant difference in body temperature reduction (p<0.001). Conclusion: Warm compresses combined with lavender aromatherapy were effective in reducing body temperature among children with febrile seizures. This intervention may be considered a complementary nursing strategy for fever management in pediatric emergency settings to support conventional treatment.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a group of diseases related to the body's metabolism, characterized by excessively high blood sugar levels. Knowledge about diabetes mellitus is important because it helps people understand the disease. If respondents have insufficient knowledge about diabetes mellitus, they may not routinely check their blood sugar. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between knowledge and blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus patients at the hospital. This research method used a correlational analytical research design with a cross-sectional approach. This study was conducted from October to November 2025 at the Pati Islamic Hospital. The population of diabetes mellitus respondents was 92, and a sample of 68 was selected using purposive sampling. Inclusion criteria included diabetes mellitus patients at Pati Islamic Hospital who were present when questionnaires were distributed and willing to participate. The exclusion criteria were patients with cognitive impairment or dementia and patients on exclusive insulin therapy. The independent variable is knowledge level, and the dependent variable is blood sugar level. Knowledge level was measured using the DKQ-24 (Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire), and blood sugar was measured using an EasyTouch glucometer. Data analysis used the chi-square test. The results showed a p-value of 0.000. Therefore, there is a relationship between knowledge level and blood sugar in diabetes mellitus patients in the hospital. Conclusion: There is a relationship between knowledge level and blood sugar in diabetes mellitus patients in the hospital. Suggestion: It is hoped that respondents will increase their understanding by seeking information about diabetes mellitus and the factors that influence blood sugar levels.
