Abstract

This study explores the reengineering of health vocational high school (SMK Kesehatan) curricula in Kalimantan following the implementation of Indonesia’s Health Law No. 17 of 2023, with a comparative analysis of Thailand’s vocational education reform under the Thailand 4.0 framework. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation in SMKs located in East, South, and Central Kalimantan. Findings reveal that SMKs in Kalimantan have begun to adjust their curricula by emphasizing medical technology, hospital management, and digital health information systems. However, challenges such as limited facilities, insufficient teacher training, and weak industry partnerships remain significant barriers. In contrast, Thailand has successfully implemented holistic vocational education reform by integrating work-integrated learning, providing high-skilled vocational innovation scholarships, and establishing strong partnerships between schools and industries. Thailand’s model also benefits from a robust monitoring and evaluation system that ensures alignment with labor market demands. These findings suggest that SMKs in Kalimantan need to adopt a more holistic and collaborative approach to curriculum reengineering, drawing lessons from Thailand, to produce graduates who are adaptive, innovative, and competitive in the global health sector.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) systems in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Indonesia, focusing on the challenges and opportunities of integrating these systems within the unique cultural and religious context of pesantren. Given the dynamic educational landscape and the evolving demands of quality education, this research seeks to understand how IQA can be effectively adapted to fit the specific needs of pesantren while ensuring that their traditional pedagogical values are preserved. The study employs a qualitative research approach, including an analysis of relevant literature and in-depth interviews with key stakeholders involved in the development and implementation of IQA systems within pesantren. The findings reveal that successful IQA implementation requires a careful balance between modern educational standards and the intrinsic values of pesantren, such as religious education, spiritual development, and character formation. Moreover, the study identifies several critical factors for effective IQA implementation, including strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, capacity building for educators and administrators, and the strategic use of technology to enhance efficiency and data management. Furthermore, the research emphasizes the importance of fostering a culture of continuous improvement and community involvement, which includes engaging parents, alumni, and local community members in the IQA process. By addressing these key factors, pesantren can not only enhance the quality of their educational programs but also contribute to the broader goal of developing a knowledgeable and skilled workforce that aligns with the needs of a rapidly changing global landscape. Ultimately, this study advocates for a holistic approach to IQA in pesantren that preserves their cultural heritage while embracing innovation to meet the demands of the 21st century.

This research explores local wisdom and the cultivation of Islamic religious values (PAI) in 21st century Character Education at PAUD Plus Puri Kencana, Samarinda. This research reveals the integration of the method of singing the Indun g-indung song, which is a regional song from East Kalimantan and contains Aqidah and moral values with 21st century character learning and the Unggah-ungguh method from Javanese tradition, to form noble morals in young children. The basis of this research is the finding that singing activities can increase children's interest and understanding in recognizing religious and moral values, and that the Javanese traditional Unggah-ungguh method can be integrated with Islamic moral values. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with class teachers as purposive respondents. Data was collected through interview surveys and documentation. The research results showed that the Indung-indung singing activity and the Unggah-ungguh method succeeded in integrating cultural and religious values in early childhood Islamic learning, as well as supporting the formation of 21st century character in early childhood. This research recommends the development of integrated learning models, teaching materials and innovative learning media to support 21st century character education and instill Islamic religious values through singing and Unggah-ungguh learning methods. Additionally, further research is needed to explore the long-term impact of these activities on child development

Abstract

Digital transformation in the education sector has become an inevitable challenge alongside rapid advancements in information technology. This study aims to examine the strategic role of information professionals in supporting digital transformation within educational institutions. Using a qualitative approach supported by a comprehensive literature review, the study analyzes how these professionals contribute to planning, implementing, and sustaining digital initiatives. The findings indicate several key barriers, including limited budgets, resistance to change, skill gaps, and inadequate technological infrastructure. Despite these constraints, information professionals play a critical role as change agents who drive innovation, enhance administrative efficiency, and strengthen the alignment between digital solutions and institutional goals. The study implies that developing professional competencies, improving digital literacy among stakeholders, and fostering stronger collaboration between information personnel and institutional leaders are essential strategies for achieving sustainable digital transformation in education. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of human resource readiness in digital initiatives and offers practical insights for policymakers and educational administrators.
