Abstract

Diabetic foot ulcers are a serious complication of diabetes that can lead to severe infections and even amputation. Proper foot care is a key prevention strategy, although the effectiveness of interventions varies in practice. Objective: This study analyzes the effectiveness of foot care interventions in preventing ulcers in diabetic patients through a systematic literature review. A Systematic Literature Review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines and the PICO approach (Population: type II diabetes patients; Intervention: foot care interventions; Comparison: standard education or no specific intervention; Outcome: prevention of foot ulcers). Article searches were conducted using the PubMed and Google Scholar databases from 2020 to 2025 using the keywords: diabetic foot care, foot ulcer prevention, and foot care education. The initial search yielded 268 articles, comprising 212 articles from Google Scholar and 56 articles from PubMed. Further screening was conducted by reading the titles and abstracts, removing duplicates and irrelevant articles, leaving 98 articles. During the eligibility stage, the full texts were thoroughly read and selected based on the established criteria, ultimately yielding 10 articles that met the criteria for further analysis. The methodological quality of the articles was assessed using the JBI Critical Appraisal Tools. A review of 10 articles showed that various interventions, including behavior-based education and technology models, were effective in improving foot care and significantly reducing the risk of ulcers (p < 0.05) across all studies.

Abstract

Personal hygiene care in post-laparotomy patients is very important to accelerate the healing process and prevent infection. Good hygiene is associated with a reduced risk of post-operative complications. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of personal hygiene on the recovery of post-laparotomy patients and the factors that influence it. This study utilized a Systematic Literature Review design, adhering to the PRISMA guidelines. The search for relevant articles was conducted across two primary scientific databases, SINTA and Scopus, covering the publication period from 2020 to 2025. The search strategy was formulated using a combination of keywords: "Infection Prevention," "Personal Hygiene," "Post-Laparotomy," and "Wound Healing." This initial search resulted in 860 articles. The selection process was carried out in two main stages: an initial screening to remove duplicates and irrelevant articles based on their titles and abstracts, followed by a full-text review of articles that met the predefined inclusion criteria. Consequently, articles that did not satisfy the exclusion criteria were removed from the review. Through this rigorous process, a total of 15 relevant articles were selected for in-depth analysis. The results showed that personal hygiene, including wound care and overall body hygiene, had a significant impact on wound healing and reducing post-operative infections. Family support and adequate education about personal hygiene also played an important role in the recovery of post-laparotomy patients.

Abstract

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is common in men and worsens with age. Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) is a common treatment but may cause post-operative pain. Non-pharmacological interventions such as warm and cold compresses are often used to reduce pain. Data from KHZ Musthafa Regional Hospital, Tasikmalaya Regency, recorded 302 BPH cases between April and June. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of warm and cold compresses in reducing post-operative pain in TURP patients. A quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design was used. The population consisted of 101 TURP patients over three months. Purposive sampling selected 60 participants, divided into Group 1 (warm compress, n = 30) and Group 2 (cold compress, n = 30). Warm compresses were applied using a hot water bottle, and cold compresses using ice water; temperatures were monitored with a thermometer. Pain was measured using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) before and after intervention. Data were analyzed using central tendency, paired t-tests, and independent sample t-tests. Participants were aged 61–70 years, mostly with junior or senior high school education, and worked in private sectors or as employees. Warm compresses reduced pain from 5.53 (moderate) to 3.07 (mild), and cold compresses from 5.63 to 3.90. Both interventions significantly reduced pain (p = 0.000), with warm compresses more effective than cold (p = 0.003). Warm compresses are more effective than cold compresses in reducing post-TURP pain, though both significantly decrease pain levels.

Abstract

Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing long-term hemodialysis are exposed to sustained physical, psychological, and spiritual stressors that may adversely affect their adaptive capacity or resilience, thereby necessitating a comprehensive care approach that extends beyond clinical management to encompass holistic well-being. This cross-sectional correlational study examined the association between spiritual well-being, psychological well-being, and resilience among 99 hemodialysis patients at RSI Sultan Agung Semarang selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the FACIT-Sp-12, Psychological Well-Being Scale, and Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale and analyzed using the Gamma test. Most participants demonstrated moderate spiritual well-being (60.6%), high psychological well-being (88.9%), and good resilience (75.8%). Significant positive associations were found between spiritual well-being and resilience (r = 0.919; p = 0.001) and between psychological well-being and resilience (r = 0.903; p = 0.001). These results suggest that spiritual and psychological well-being are key factors associated with resilience in patients undergoing hemodialysis, underscoring the importance of integrating spiritual and psychological interventions into nursing care to strengthen patients’ ability to cope with long-term treatment.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, particularly in developing countries. The success of therapy is highly dependent on patients’ adherence to long-term treatment regimens. Non-adherence may lead to drug resistance, relapse, and treatment failure. Therefore, identifying factors that influence treatment adherence is crucial for designing effective interventions. This literature review aims to identify and analyze factors influencing medication adherence among tuberculosis patients based on empirical evidence from studies published between 2020 and 2025. The article search process followed the 2020 Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Searches were conducted across four reputable international databases: Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. Keywords used included ("tuberculosis" OR "TB") AND ("treatment adherence" OR "medication adherence" OR "treatment compliance") AND ("determinant factors" OR "associated factors" OR "predictors") AND ("patients"). Inclusion criteria consisted of original research articles employing cross-sectional or observational designs, involving active TB patients, and published in English between 2020 and 2025. Out of 1,610 identified articles, 410 duplicates were removed, leaving 1,200 articles for initial screening based on title and abstract. After full-text eligibility assessment of 180 articles, 16 studies met all criteria and were included in the final analysis. Findings from 16 studies revealed that TB medication adherence is influenced by sociodemographic, psychological, social support, and healthcare system factors. Family support and healthcare provider counseling were identified as the primary facilitators of adherence, although variations in sociocultural contexts across regions limit the generalizability of these findings. Medication adherence among TB patients is determined by patient-related, social, and healthcare system factors. Efforts to improve adherence require multidimensional approaches through education, psychosocial support, and community-based health service strengthening. These findings highlight the need for contextual and sustainable intervention strategies to optimize TB treatment outcomes.
