Abstract

The schizoaffective disorder is a mental disorder characterized by a combination of symptoms of Schizophrenia and affective disorders. One symptom is delusions, which can lead to maladaptive behaviour. This research aims to overcome delusional symptoms which have an impact on sleepless behaviour. The assessment methods were clinical interviews, observation, WAIS test, Graphic test (Draw a Person (DAP) and BAUM), WWQ test, TAT test, Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and World Health Organization Disability Assessment Scale 2.0 (WHODAS). Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis (CBTP) intervention using cognitive reframing techniques and behavioural coping skills has been proven to be able to overcome the problems experienced by the subject. CBT helps subjects ignore, distract, and adapt to delusions but does not suppress or confront the delusions themselves. The subject diverts the delusion by thinking about a better goal in life, thereby helping to reduce the behaviour of sleeplessness experienced by the subject.

Abstract

Managing classroom behavior is a global challenge, with disruptive actions like talking out of turn and physically disturbing peers undermining both teaching effectiveness and the learning experience. Traditional disciplinary methods often fall short, sometimes exacerbating the very behaviors they aim to curb. This study introduces a novel approach: storytelling-based play therapy, designed to reduce specific disruptive behaviors within the classroom. Focusing on an 8-year-old child identified as frequently disruptive, the intervention involved four consecutive days of 30-minute storytelling sessions, each crafted to enhance social skills, empathy, and self-regulation. The results were compelling a 25% reduction in talking out of turn and a dramatic 62.5% decrease in physical disturbances. These findings suggest that storytelling is not only an engaging and non-punitive strategy but also one that can bring about significant behavioral improvements. While the study's single-subject design limits generalizability, the promising outcomes open the door for further research across diverse educational settings. This research underscores the potential of storytelling as a transformative tool in classroom management, offering educators a creative and effective alternative to conventional disciplinary practices. By fostering a more positive and inclusive environment, storytelling could become a cornerstone of modern behavior management strategies in schools.

Abstract

Adolescents often struggle with low self-confidence, exacerbated by negative thought patterns and irrational beliefs that hinder their social and emotional development. This study explores the effectiveness of cognitive restructuring, a core component of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), in enhancing self-confidence among adolescents. The intervention focused on identifying, challenging, and replacing negative thoughts with constructive alternatives. A single-subject case study design was employed, with pretest and posttest measures on the Self-Confidence Scale to assess changes. Results indicated a significant increase in self-confidence scores, from 72 (low confidence) to 97 (moderate confidence). Qualitative data revealed behavioral improvements, such as reduced hesitation in social interactions and increased willingness to express opinions. The subject's belief in irrational thoughts, like fearing social judgment, was reduced, demonstrating cognitive restructuring’s role in shifting negative perceptions. This study highlights the transformative potential of cognitive counseling in fostering adolescent self-confidence. By addressing irrational beliefs and encouraging adaptive thinking, cognitive restructuring not only improved the subject’s self-esteem but also promoted positive social behavior. These findings align with existing literature, emphasizing the value of CBT-based interventions in promoting mental well-being. The study underscores the importance of integrating cognitive restructuring techniques into educational and counseling programs to support adolescents facing self-confidence challenges. However, its single-case design limits generalizability, warranting further research with larger, diverse samples. This approach offers a promising pathway for practitioners to help adolescents develop resilience and a healthier self-concept.
