Abstract

Mobile augmented reality (AR) has evolved from an experimental visualization tool into a mature pedagogical medium that redefines spatial learning in geography education. By embedding digital content into authentic locations, AR fosters experiential and inquiry-driven learning aligned with geography’s spatial and environmental paradigms. Building on evidence from 2015 to 2025, this review synthesizes 138 studies to examine how AR supports cognitive, affective, and behavioral learning dimensions. The analysis reveals that AR enhances spatial reasoning, visualization of abstract processes, and place-based engagement when integrated within robust instructional design frameworks. However, persistent gaps remain in long-term learning assessment, scalability, and teacher competence for authoring AR experiences. Cognitive-load and motivation studies suggest that AR’s benefits are maximized when interactivity and spatial anchoring are balanced with scaffolding. The review proposes a multidimensional model linking technological affordances, pedagogical strategies, and geographic thinking to promote education for sustainability and digital spatial citizenship. Implications for researchers, educators, and developers are discussed to guide future cross-disciplinary innovations.

Abstract

Physical geography learning in positional astronomy topics requires strong spatial visualization and problem-solving skills; however, conventional instructional approaches often fail to adequately facilitate these needs. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using the Apple ecosystem in improving students’ problem-solving abilities within olympiad training on positional astronomy topics. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group model. The sample consisted of two groups of senior high school students in Gorontalo Province: an experimental group utilizing the Apple ecosystem and a control group receiving conventional instruction. Data were collected through problem-solving ability tests and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings indicate that the experimental group demonstrated a higher improvement in problem-solving skills compared to the control group. The use of the Apple ecosystem enabled visualization of solar positions, simulation of geographic coordinates, and interactive exploration of astronomical phenomena, which supported students in understanding abstract concepts. Technology-enhanced learning environments also increased learning engagement and analytical abilities in solving geography-related problems. These results suggest that structured digital technology integration can strengthen positional astronomy learning through more visual and exploratory learning experiences. This study implies that technology-based strategies can enhance olympiad training and contribute to the advancement of geography education aimed at developing higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

Taluditi District, as an agrarian area, has extensive agricultural land potential; however, spatial information on the distribution of agricultural land types remains limited, hindering effective land management planning. The use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is essential to provide accurate spatial data for decision-making processes. This study aimed to map the distribution of agricultural land types using a GIS-based approach in Taluditi District. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed using secondary data, including administrative maps, land use maps, and satellite imagery obtained from official institutions. Data were collected through documentation techniques, while analysis involved land classification and overlay methods using ArcGIS software. The results indicated that agricultural land distribution consisted of three main types: dry fields, plantations, and paddy fields, with spatial patterns influenced by topography and water availability. Dry fields dominated the area at 72%, primarily located in hilly regions, while plantations accounted for 24% with a heterogeneous distribution, and paddy fields comprised only 4% concentrated in lowland areas. Spatially, higher concentrations of agricultural land were found in the central to southern parts of the district, characterized by relatively flat geomorphological conditions. These findings demonstrate a significant relationship between physical landscape characteristics and land use patterns. In conclusion, the agricultural system in Taluditi District is predominantly characterized by dryland farming influenced by topographical conditions and limited water resources. This study provides important implications for sustainable, spatial-based agricultural land management planning.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the community's perception of the supply chain of leading commodities in Taluditi District and to identify the internal and external factors that influence its development. This research is important to conduct considering the still low efficiency of the supply chain, which impacts the added value of agricultural products. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques thru in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation. Informants were determined thru purposive and snowball sampling, including farmers, collectors, distributors, and consumers. Data analysis was conducted using the SWAT method thru IFAS and EFAS. The research results indicate that internally, there are strengths such as the use of superior seeds, high farmer experience, and the presence of active farmer groups. However, there are still weaknesses such as low technology adoption, minimal training, and the absence of product processing, resulting in low product added value. Externally, there are opportunities such as the opening of digital markets, government program support, and the potential for agro-industrial development, but there are also threats like price fluctuations, the dominance of middlemen, and climate change. Overall, the strategic position is in Quadrant I (aggressive), so development is directed toward utilizing strengths to seize opportunities thru value addition, marketing digitalization, and strengthening farmer institutions.
