Abstract

Education plays a vital role in human life as it is expected to enhance the nation's intelligence. The development of creative thinking in students is influenced by the encouragement or motivation provided by teachers. This ability can grow when teachers effectively stimulate students' creative thinking processes. Therefore, it is important for educators to innovate their teaching strategies to maintain student motivation. One method that can maximize the brain's potential and foster creativity is mind mapping. At MI Muhammadiyah Panican Purbalingga, many teachers still use traditional teaching methods. To address this, a training program focusing on practical mind mapping was implemented. The primary goal of this activity was to enhance the teachers' understanding of mind mapping as a tool to support learning. The training provided teachers with insight into how this method can improve lesson delivery and foster student creativity. The results showed that teachers were enthusiastic about participating, and some were already aware of the benefits of mind mapping in enhancing learning. This highlights the importance of conducting further mind mapping training to help teachers develop more effective and creative lesson plans. Additional support and motivation from government stakeholders are essential to advance the development of these educational activities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between the open poverty rate (TPT) and the poverty rate in Jambi City from 2014 to 2023. Poverty and poverty are important issues in regional development because they directly impact community welfare. This study employed a quantitative method with a descriptive correlational approach, and data analysis was conducted using the Pearson correlation test. Secondary data were obtained from the Jambi City Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The results of the normality test indicated that the data were normally distributed, making them suitable for analysis using Pearson. The correlation analysis showed a correlation coefficient between the TPT and poverty of 0.049 with a significance level of 0.893, indicating no significant relationship between the two variables. This finding suggests that poverty is not the sole factor determining the poverty rate in Jambi City. Therefore, poverty alleviation requires a multidimensional approach that focuses not only on employment but also includes education, distribution of social assistance, and equitable regional development.

Abstract

Pacitan district recorded the highest Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) in Eastern Java Province. Meanwhile, Madiun city which is one of the largest cities in East Java Province, is ranked only 34 out of 39 cities in 2023. This condition raises concern for the local government, perticularly the Department of Manpower,in ensuring that the productive-age population can be optimally absorbed into the labor market. The LFPR is categorized as time series data, thus forecasting method are required to estimate its future trends. This Study compares the performance of the Double Exponential Smoothing Holt (DESH) method and the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) Box-Jenkins approach in forecasting the LFPR of Madiun City. The empirical result show that the ARIMA (1,0,1) model provides better accuracy compared to DESH. The forecasting result  indiacte that the LFPR of Madiun City is project to reach 67,19% in 2024, 67,20% in 2025, and 67,21% in 2026, with  Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 14,48; Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 3,80 and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of 4,75%. These finding are expected to serve as reference for future research and practical input for policymakers in formulating strategies to improve labor LFPR in Madiun City.

Abstract

The distribution of probability, also known as the distribution of random variables, is a part of the Statistics course material. This study aims to describe the mathematical representation skills of students on the topic of probability distribution, based on the fact that many students struggle to understand this material. This study uses a descriptive method. The subjects of this research are 12 students from Muhammadiyah University of Jambi. Data in this study were collected through written tests. The data were analyzed quantitatively and descriptively. The results of the study indicate that students' abilities to work on probability distribution material are still considered low. Therefore, there is a need for teaching methods that can help students understand better and achieve better results.

Abstract

Urban poverty remains a complex development challenge in Indonesia, including in Jambi City. This study aims to examine the influence of education level and unemployment rate on the poverty level in Jambi City. A quantitative approach was employed using secondary cross-sectional data at the sub-district level for the year 2024 obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics. The dependent variable is the poverty rate, while the independent variables consist of the open unemployment rate and education level, proxied by the percentage of the population with at least secondary education (senior high school or equivalent). Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the ordinary least squares (OLS) method. The results indicate that the unemployment rate has a positive and statistically significant effect on poverty in Jambi City. Meanwhile, the education variable shows a positive but statistically insignificant effect on poverty. These findings suggest that unemployment is a dominant factor influencing urban poverty, whereas improvements in education alone have not been sufficient to reduce poverty without adequate job creation. The study highlights the importance of integrating education policies with employment-oriented economic development strategies. The results are expected to provide empirical evidence to support local governments in formulating more effective and integrated poverty alleviation policies at the urban level.

Abstract

Set theory is one of the fundamental concepts underlying the structure of discrete mathematics and computer science and plays a crucial role in understanding various advanced topics, such as relations, functions, mathematical logic, and other discrete structures. This concept serves as the foundation for developing a systematic and structured mathematical mindset. This paper aims to explain the fundamental concepts of set theory, review its significance in discrete mathematics, and outline how to present sets and basic operations on sets, such as union, intersection, complement, and difference. The method used in this paper is a literature study by reviewing, collecting, reading, and analyzing data from various relevant written sources, both textbooks and scientific articles. Through this study, students are expected to be able to understand set theory more comprehensively. Thus, it can be concluded that set theory is not merely an introductory topic, but rather a formal framework that defines the validity of logic and structure in modern discrete systems.

Abstract

Graph theory as a branch of discrete mathematics has experienced significant development in its application to modern complex network systems, particularly in digital social networks and transportation systems. This research aims to analyze fundamental concepts of graph theory, examine characteristics of cycle detection algorithms along with their computational complexity, investigate their application in digital social network analysis, and explore their implementation in digital transportation system optimization. The research method employs a qualitative approach with library research focusing on scientific literature from 2020-2025 period from accredited academic databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and IEEE Xplore, utilizing thematic analysis techniques to identify meaningful patterns from the examined literature. Research findings indicate that fundamental graph theory concepts including vertices, edges, and graph classifications form the foundation for relational structure modeling. Cycle detection algorithms such as Depth-First Search, Union-Find, and Tarjan demonstrate effectiveness with O(V+E) complexity for large-scale graphs. Applications in digital social networks facilitate community identification through Multi-View Clustering, centrality analysis for influencer detection, and understanding viral information dissemination patterns. Implementation in digital transportation systems demonstrates route planning optimization using Dijkstra and Bellman-Ford algorithms, vulnerability analysis through articulation point and bridge identification, and bottleneck detection with betweenness centrality. The research concludes that integration of graph theory in discrete mathematics education enhances critical thinking skills and real-world application understanding, with recommendations for algorithm development for massive dynamic graphs and machine learning integration in graph algorithm optimization.
