Abstract

The balance of nature could not be separated from human interactions, both destructive acts and those that supported the conservation of nature and the environment. Nowadays, quite a lot of environmental issues through some campaign rises up via social media in the form of vlogs, or video blogging. By utilizing Charles Sanders Peirce’s Semiotics Analysis, this research is done to uncover the meanings behind these environmental vlog contents. There are three vlogs chosen in this research, all of them are from YouTube.com. The results show that Health is an Investment, Conjoining with nature can be done together, and the conservation of environment cannot be done alone, and must be done together.

Abstract

The existence of social media made it easier for anyone to publish any activities in any social medias they had. This activity seemed to indicate the desire to be acknowledged by others for the existence of people who actively published each activity. Using the theory of Encoding-Decoding from Stuart Hall, Existentialist Theory of Jean Paul Sartre, and the method of Reception Analysis, 8 (eight) Faculty of Communication Mercu Buana University’s students, class of 2016, gave a view how they produced the meaning of each social media content produced by themselves. The result of this research was not everyone who actively used social media to publish was an existentialist. 1 (one) out of 8 (eight) informants in this study did not belong to any modes in which Sartre is located, 3 (three) informants belonged to the two modes, 2 (two) people belonged to Being-in-itself, 1 (one) person belonged to Being-for-itself, and 1 (one) person belonged to Being-for-others. Keywords:Social Media, Existence, Existentialist, Encoding-Decoding, Reception Analysis Abstrak Keberadaan media sosial memudahkan siapapun untuk mempublikasikan setiap kegiatan di sejumlah media sosial yang dimilikinya. Kegiatan ini seolah menunjukkan adanya keinginan untuk diakui oleh orang lain akan eksistensi orang yang aktif mempublikasikan setiap kegiatannya tersebut. Dengan mempergunakan teori Encoding-Decoding dari Stuart Hall, Teori Eksistensialis dari Jean Paul Sartre, dan metode Reception Analysis, terpilih 8 (delapan) orang mahasiswa Fikom Universitas Mercu Buana angkatan 2016 yang telah memberikan pandangan bagaimana mereka memproduksi makna dari setiap konten media sosial yang diproduksi sendiri. Hasil penelitian yaitu tidak semua orang yang aktif menggunakan media sosial untuk mempublikasikannya adalah seorang eksistentialis. 1 (satu) dari 8 (delapan) informan dalam penelitian ini tidak termasuk ke dalam modus cara berada Sartre manapun, 3 (tiga) orang informan termasuk ke dua modus cara berada, 2 (dua) orang termasuk ke dalam modus cara berada Being-in-itself, 1 (satu) orang termasuk ke dalam modus cara berada Being-for-itself, dan 1 (satu) orang termasuk ke dalam modus cara berada Being-for-others. Kata Kunci: Media Sosial, Eksistensi, Eksistensialis, Encoding-Decoding, Reception Analysis.

Abstract

Media sosial mengalami perkembangan sangat pesat dengan isi (konten) yang beragam mulai dari informasi yang positif sampai negatif, yang benar sampai yang tidak benar, bahkan berita bohong (hoax). Ada juga konten yang tidakpenting alias tidak mendidik bahkan bisa membawa ke hal yang tidak baik bagi pembacanya, seperti konten pornografi dan kekerasan. Menjelang Pemilu saat ini juga ada konten yang isinya menjelekkan pihak lawan atau yang biasadisebut dengan black campaign atau kampanye hitam. Hal tersebut menjadi perhatian utama dari PKM ini. Dengan target sasaran remaja, walaupun tidak tertutup orang dewasa yang dituntut untuk terus mengawasi anak-anak mereka,PKM ini dimaksudkan untuk memperoleh ide bagaimana merancang konten yang edukatif di media sosial. Dari 19 (Sembilan belas) peserta yang hadir pada PPM kali ini ternyata mampu memberikan ide konten yang bersifat edukatif,yaitu konten mengenai Kampanye Lingkungan dan Kampanye Pemilu yang Positif. Intinya sebagai pengguna mereka pun mampu berkontribusi dalam memberikan ide konten yang baik yang bersifat mendidik, artinya bisa memberikan hal positif kepada para penggunanya.

Abstract

Katniss Everdeen was the main role in film franchise “The Hunger Games” who had done her mission fight against The Capitol. Katniss Everdeen was a girl, who was capable to actualize herself, she knew which one she should choice for her best. This character (girl) that was aware of her freedom made me interested to make a research from existentialist feminism’s side, using semiotic analysis of Roland Barthes that had two significance orders, denotative and connotative, which was in connotative order would be more explored the hidden ideology (Barthes named it mythology). The final conclusion of this research indicated that there was socialist-communist ideology where lower-class citizen (indirectly under Katniss’s order) won the rebellion against government’s injustice.Keywords: Existentialist feminism, Film, Semiotic Analysis of Roland Barthes.

Abstract

AbstractThe Indonesian Simultaneous Local Elections would be held in Dec 9, 2015. CNNIndonesia is one of the TV Media in Indonesia that has been broadcasting since August 17, 2015. CNNIndonesia is a francised American TV stasion. Like the other TV Media, CNNIndonesia has a website that broadcasts online, CNNIndonesia.com. The objection of this research is to determine how CNNIndonesia.com developed the Indonesian simultaneous local election newsby using framing analysis of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki which has 4 (four) structures: syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetoric. The result of this research indicates that CNNIndonesia.com did not demonstrate the completeness of the news, relied only from one source of information, less of support to the Indonesian Simultaneous Local Elections, and didn’t support to any of candidates or the Political Party of the candidates.Keywords: News, Online Media, Framing Analysis of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki.AbstrakPilkada Serentak akan diselenggarakan pada 9 Desember 2015. CNN Indonesia adalah salah satu media yang baru saja mengudara sejak 17 Agustus 2015 lalu. CNN Indonesia merupakan stasiun televisi waralaba dari Amerika Serikat. Seperti halnya beberapa media lain, CNN Indonesia juga memiliki situs atau media online, yaitu CNNIndonesia.com. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana konstruksi pemberitaan Pilkada serentak yang terdapat pada CNNIndonesia.com dengan mempergunakan analisis framing Zhongdang Pan dan Gerald M. Kosicki yang memiliki 4 (empat) struktur, yaitu sintaksis, skrip, tematik, dan retoris.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa CNNIndonesia.com kurang memperhatikan unsur kelengkapan berita, hanya mengandalkan sumber informasi dari satu pihak, kurang mendukung pelaksanaan “Pilkada Serentak” ini, dan tidak menunjukkan dukungan kepada calon tertentu maupun Partai Politik pengusung calon.Kata Kunci: Berita, Media Online, Analisis Framing Zhongdang Pan dan Gerald M. Kosicki.

Abstract

Elite adalah serial produksi Netflix dengan genre thriller dan drama remaja. Di Elite ada keluarga muslim yang terdiri dari orang tua dan dua anaknya. Bagaimana penggambaran keluarga atau kelompok minoritas di Eropa (Spanyol) dalam serial produksi ini menarik perhatian untuk diteliti. Dengan menggunakan teori dan metode semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce, penelitian ini bermaksud untuk mengetahui bagaimana penggambaran keluarga Muslim dalam serial Elite dan sekaligus mengungkap makna yang tersembunyi di dalamnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat unsur positif dan negatif yang tergambar dalam kehidupan keluarga muslim. Unsur positif seperti agama dan menaati ajaran agama, sedangkan unsur negatif seperti kurangnya komunikasi antara orang tua dan anak. Di sini juga peran ayah lebih aktif daripada peran ibu, artinya laki-laki memiliki tanggung jawab yang lebih besar daripada perempuan. Elemen positif dan negatif yang dijelaskan dalam seri ini menunjukkan keseimbangan; bahwa hidup harus seimbang.

Abstract

Abstrak : Web series adalah salah satu alternatif hiburan bagi masyarakat Indonesia. Salah satu judulnya, SORE-Istri dari Masa Depan, bercerita tentang Sore, seorang time traveller, yang datang ke masa lalu untuk menemui Jo, laki-laki yang bakal menjadi suaminya kelak. SORE-Istri dari Masa Depan ini juga menjadi salah satu web series Indonesia yang ditonton oleh lebih dari 2 juta viewers sejak episode pertama. Penelitian ini mempergunakan teori feminisme untuk melihat bagaimana feminis yang muncul dan tergambarkan dalam web series ini. Sedangkan metode yang dipergunakan adalah analisis wacana dari Sara Mills, yang melihat bagaimana posisi subjek-objek dan penulis-pembaca digambarkan melalui web series ini. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini adalah menjadi seorang perempuan berarti lebih sadar akan hidup sehat dibandingkan dengan laki-laki; memiliki kuasa untuk mengatur hidup laki-laki, merubahnya menjadi lebih baik, lebih sehat; dan lebih bisa mengkampanyekan “Hidup Sehat” dibandingkan laki-laki.

Abstract

The General Election ended on February 14, 2024, the Indonesian public is waiting for an official announcement from the General Election Commission (Komisi Pemilihan Umum). Previously, during the campaign period, after the campaign and waiting for the decision, news about the election, especially the Presidential Campaign, was widely discussed in the media, including YouTube.Najwa Shihab's YouTube channel, broadcast “Jejak Kampanye Capres 2024” (Traces of the 2024 Presidential Candidate Campaign) before the election was held. The content is divided into "Intro", "Jejak Kampanye Anis Baswedan", "Jejak Kampanye Prabowo Subianto", "Jejak Kampanye Ganjar Pranowo", and "Closing".By using Entman’s framing analysis, the research results that Mata Najwa is trying to remain neutral, provides a political identity or image for each presidential candidate that can influence people in choosing. But, even though she looks neutral, Mata Najwa positions the 2nd presidential candidate, Prabowo, as looking more relaxed and better prepared for the Presidential Election this time. Prabowo's style and strategy might be still old, but it turns out he is able to give his own image with the "contemporary" term, and is not owned by other Presidential Candidates. This image seems to have just appeared, not part of a previous strategic plan.

Abstract

Jessica Kumala Wongso suddenly became a “celebrity” because of the murder case she was accused of in 2016. In 2023, after more than 5 years since the case was decided by the court, the Netflix reconstruct this case in a documentary film “Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee, and Jessica Wongso”. This research wants to see the media construction by using Robert Entman's framing analysis model, which have some categorizations: Issue Selection and Highlighting of Certain Aspects of the Issue, Define Problems, Diagnose Causes, Make Moral Judgment and Treatment Recommendations. The results show that the media constructs messages by taking opinions and statements from various sources; before, during, and after the trial process ends. This documentary does not side with or against Mirna or Jessica, but rather highlights how the criminal justice system in Indonesia actually works. This film highlights what the criminal justice system, really is in Indonesia. The victim here is not only Mirna (if there is a case), but also Jessica as a victim of injustice in the criminal justice system in Indonesia, and the Indonesian people because the public in general has the right to know how the situation actually happened. When connected to the Sustainable Development Goals, it can be seen that one of element at number 16, Justice, is still a concern, especially in Indonesia

Abstract

This research examined how @TheLodgeMaribaya utilized Instagram as a tool for tourism promotion in West Java, Indonesia through the use of AISAS concept (Attention, Interest, Search, Action, Share). In the digital era, social media users often seek out ‘Instagrammable’ locations that capture their Attention, spark Interest, then lead them to Search for further information, prompt them to take Action by visiting the location and create content with the location as a background. Lastly, Share these experiences on their respective social media accounts. This research aims to find out how The Lodge Maribaya utilized Instagram as a promotional tool employing the AISAS concept, using the case study as a method. The primary data of this research consists of in-depth interviews with The Lodge's Marketing Communications Director, Fauziah Setia Rahayu. The results of the research show that at the Attention stage, The Lodge Maribaya focused on environmental education, exploiting trends, and developing market segmentation. At the Interest stage, The Lodge Maribaya have used the hashtag (#) feature in the caption for all rides and facilities, allowing them to carry out a recall with the same post with a different perspective. At the Search stage, using the hashtag feature makes it easier to search for related information. In the Action stage, The Lodge Maribaya employs a positive campaign tagline to attract visitors. Lastly, in the Share stage, The Lodge Maribaya encouraged their visitors to share their activities at The Lodge by tagging their official account.
