Abstract

This study explores the disaster preparedness strategies of the Library of State Senior High School 5 (SMA Negeri 5) in Sinjai Regency against flood risks. The research aims to identify the strategies implemented and the challenges encountered in mitigating flood disaster impacts in the library. This qualitative descriptive research employed a case study approach, collecting data through participatory observations, semi-structured interviews with school staff, and document analysis. The results indicate that the library has implemented several strategies, including infrastructure improvement, collection digitization, disaster training, early warning system adoption, and stakeholder coordination. However, these efforts face several obstacles, such as limited budgets, inadequate digitization facilities, irregular training sessions, reliance on external early warning systems, and lack of sustainable external coordination. The findings are expected to contribute to the development of disaster risk management practices in school libraries, particularly in flood-prone areas.

Abstract

This study explores community-based digital library services in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi, focusing on how participatory design and user needs mapping shape innovation and impact. Using a qualitative case study with 15 informant. data were collected gathered through observation, semi-structured interviews and document analysis. Findings show that digital libraries have introduced service innovations such as online portals, mobile applications, and digitized local knowledge developed through active user participation and periodic evaluation. The services are used for academic, research, and community literacy purpose but challenges persist, including infrastructure constraints, low digital literacy, and limited human resources. Despite these constraints, the services foster improved access to information, cultural preservation, and stronger community collaboration. The novelty of this study lies in integrating Community-Based Design and Information Needs Assessment to highlight how rural digital libraries can become inclusive, innovative, and sustainable. Practical implications and directions for further research are also discussed to encourage the development of more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable digital library services.

Abstract

The post-truth phenomenon has driven the need for critical literacy among students, especially in the face of digital information flows that are rife with misinformation and disinformation. This study aims to explore students' perceptions of critical literacy as well as the challenges, strategies, and expectations they face in applying critical literacy in the post-truth era. This study uses a qualitative approach with an exploratory design, involving 25 students from various study programs in Bone Regency who were selected purposively. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using a thematic analysis approach. The results show that students view critical literacy as an essential skill, important not only for academic purposes but also for daily life, enabling them to resist the influence of fake news. Students identified several obstacles, including cognitive bias, laziness in verifying information, and a lack of support from the academic environment; however, they have also developed various strategies for verifying and selecting information. Additionally, there is a hope that universities and lecturers will be more active in providing discussion spaces and systematic critical literacy training. These findings confirm that strengthening critical literacy requires multidimensional interventions, including curriculum innovation, training, and fostering an open and reflective academic culture so that students can become active subjects in building valid and responsible knowledge amid the challenges of the post-truth era.
