Abstract

The case of domestic violence that occurred in Medan Sunggal District, Medan City, is certainly not a new phenomenon in the field of criminology. Along with its development, domestic violence can also be found in various forms of crime, ranging from individual crimes to conventional crimes. The form of domestic violence in criminology research is always related or has a causal relationship with acts of violence. For example, if a husband or wife no longer cares about family life because of the emergence of another ideal figure, communication within the family will decrease. This then triggers excessive suspicion that can lead to domestic violence, such as insulting, mocking, hitting, and so on. The cause of violence, according to positive law, one of which is the existence of a patriarchal culture and the view of society that considers the wife as the property of the husband. Thus, the husband feels fully entitled to his wife and may treat his wife in the way he wants. From an Islamic perspective, this arises due to a lack of piety in individuals, a low understanding of husband-wife relations in the family, and temperamental nature in individuals including committing domestic violence. The effects of criminal acts, especially for those who are victims, are mental disorders. This impact is not only felt by the perpetrators of violence, but also by other family members, especially children. In addition to the effects within the household itself, domestic violence, especially from husband to wife, can also affect the social aspects of life.

Abstract

Education is a basic right of children that must be protected from being hampered by socio-economic factors. One of the main challenges in the education sector is the high dropout rate, especially among children from underprivileged families. This study aims to explore and optimize the role of schools and communities in protecting children from dropping out of school through community service programs. This program involves collaboration between schools, communities, and the government to reduce factors that cause dropouts, such as economic problems, lack of motivation, and parental involvement. The results of the study showed that providing scholarships, additional learning facilities, and developing learning communities significantly supported the sustainability of children's education. However, challenges such as limited funds and difficulties in reaching remote areas still need to be addressed. Recommendations for program development include increasing accessibility, parental involvement, and partnerships with donor agencies. This program is expected to provide a sustainable positive impact on children's education in areas with high dropout rates.

Abstract

This activity uses a qualitative approach with a socio-legal research method to analyze the effectiveness of legal assistance for victims of sexual violence in Indonesia. Data were collected through literature studies, in-depth interviews, and participant observation. The results of the study indicate that comprehensive legal assistance, including psychological services, can improve access to justice for victims. However, there are still obstacles in coordination between legal aid institutions, law enforcement officers, and civil society organizations. This study recommends increasing training for legal assistants, educating the community, and strengthening regulations so that the assistance system is more pro-victim. In addition, the use of technology in legal aid services can be a solution to expand the reach of assistance. With these steps, it is hoped that victims of sexual violence can obtain better legal protection and a justice system that is more responsive to their needs.

Abstract

The development of information technology has had a major impact on the way people interact and manage information, including personal data. In today's digital era, personal data has become a commodity that is vulnerable to misuse if not properly regulated. In response to this, the Indonesian government has passed Law No. 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection. This Community Service Activity aims to increase public legal awareness of the importance of personal data protection, as well as measure their understanding of the substance of the Law. The activity was carried out through legal counseling, participatory discussions, and pre-tests and post-tests for participants from students and the general public. The results showed a significant increase in legal understanding after the socialization was carried out. In addition, the survey also revealed that the types of digital threats most often experienced by the public are phishing and unauthorized use of data. The level of trust in data management institutions, such as the government and digital platforms, is also still relatively low. This finding emphasizes the importance of ongoing legal education and the active role of the community in maintaining privacy in the digital space. The laws that have been passed are not enough without being followed by legal awareness and strict enforcement of the rules. Therefore, this activity is expected to be the first step in forming a digital culture that is legally aware and protects the rights of citizens as data owners.

Abstract

Early marriage is a social issue that has a negative impact on the health, psychology, and future of the children involved. In Indonesia, the prevalence of early marriage is still quite high, especially in areas with low levels of education and legal awareness. This study aims to provide legal education to the community regarding the legal impact of early marriage and the importance of prevention through community empowerment. Through legal counseling involving community leaders, educational institutions, and local governments, it is hoped that the community can understand the legal consequences of early marriage, both in terms of laws and regulations and children's rights. The results of this education show an increase in public knowledge about early marriage, as well as an awareness of the importance of protecting children, especially related to their rights protected by Law Number 16 of 2019 concerning Marriage. This legal education program is expected to reduce the number of early marriages and encourage better social change in society, especially in realizing healthy, prosperous, and harmonious families. Community empowerment through legal education is an important step in creating sustainable social change and increasing legal awareness among the wider community.
