Abstract

The case of domestic violence that occurred in Medan Sunggal District, Medan City, is certainly not a new phenomenon in the field of criminology. Along with its development, domestic violence can also be found in various forms of crime, ranging from individual crimes to conventional crimes. The form of domestic violence in criminology research is always related or has a causal relationship with acts of violence. For example, if a husband or wife no longer cares about family life because of the emergence of another ideal figure, communication within the family will decrease. This then triggers excessive suspicion that can lead to domestic violence, such as insulting, mocking, hitting, and so on. The cause of violence, according to positive law, one of which is the existence of a patriarchal culture and the view of society that considers the wife as the property of the husband. Thus, the husband feels fully entitled to his wife and may treat his wife in the way he wants. From an Islamic perspective, this arises due to a lack of piety in individuals, a low understanding of husband-wife relations in the family, and temperamental nature in individuals including committing domestic violence. The effects of criminal acts, especially for those who are victims, are mental disorders. This impact is not only felt by the perpetrators of violence, but also by other family members, especially children. In addition to the effects within the household itself, domestic violence, especially from husband to wife, can also affect the social aspects of life.

Abstract

Violence against early childhood is not only limited to physical acts such as hitting, slapping, or directly hurting, but also includes verbal, emotional, sexual violence, and neglect of children's rights. This study aims to provide information and insight regarding legal protection against violence against early childhood. This study uses library research by analyzing journals, books and the Constitution to analyze problems related to violence against early childhood. The results of this study indicate that there are several documents on legal protection for children such as constitution No. 35 of 2003 concerning Child Protection, constitution No. 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System, Law No. 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence, the Criminal Code and the Law Concerning Criminal Violence against Children. Although normatively legal protection for early childhood is quite adequate, its implementation still faces many obstacles. Synergy is needed between law enforcement officers, child protection agencies, the community, and the government to create a safe and child-friendly environment.

Abstract

This community service aims to integrate the values of customary law into modern legal outreach within local communities. The primary objective of this activity is to enhance the understanding of customary communities regarding national law and to demonstrate the relevance of customary law within the national legal framework. The legal outreach was conducted with an approach sensitive to local culture, involving customary leaders, legal counselors, and community members in interactive sessions. The results of this service show significant improvement in the community's understanding of national law and their rights within the context of both customary and modern law. Before the outreach, the community's understanding of national law was only 45%, but after the outreach, it increased to 85%. Similarly, understanding of customary law and women's rights showed a significant increase. This program also encouraged active community participation in legal processes, both in resolving customary land disputes and in utilizing national legal mechanisms. However, challenges remain, including ignorance of more complex legal procedures and the need for policies that better support the integration of customary law into the national legal system. Moving forward, further collaboration between customary communities, legal counselors, and the government is expected to strengthen the implementation of fair and inclusive law.

Abstract

This activity uses a qualitative approach with a socio-legal research method to analyze the effectiveness of legal assistance for victims of sexual violence in Indonesia. Data were collected through literature studies, in-depth interviews, and participant observation. The results of the study indicate that comprehensive legal assistance, including psychological services, can improve access to justice for victims. However, there are still obstacles in coordination between legal aid institutions, law enforcement officers, and civil society organizations. This study recommends increasing training for legal assistants, educating the community, and strengthening regulations so that the assistance system is more pro-victim. In addition, the use of technology in legal aid services can be a solution to expand the reach of assistance. With these steps, it is hoped that victims of sexual violence can obtain better legal protection and a justice system that is more responsive to their needs.

Abstract

This activity uses a qualitative approach with empirical studies to analyze the problems faced by the community in preparing deeds and agreements and to evaluate the effectiveness of the legal assistance program provided. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The results of the study indicate that the majority of the community has a limited understanding of the requirements for the validity of an agreement and the differences between authentic deeds and private deeds. Legal assistance carried out through education and consultation has been proven to increase community understanding and change the pattern of preparing agreements to be more in accordance with legal provisions. However, challenges such as limited legal personnel and access to services are still major obstacles. To increase the effectiveness of this program, it is recommended to establish a community-based legal service center and utilize digital technology for legal consultations. Thus, it is hoped that legal assistance can increase public awareness and access to better quality legal services.
