Abstract

Soils from post-tin mining soil typically exhibit suboptimal conditions for plant growth due to low organic matter content, sandy texture, and the presence of heavy metal wastes. Groundnuts (Arachis hypogaea L.) are a highly nutritious food crop of significant economic importance, rich in protein and fat. Enhancing the quality and fertility of old tin mine soils can be accomplished by adding organic growing media to facilitate optimal groundnut cultivation. This study aims to enhance groundnut growth by the addition of organic planting media and determining of the optimal dosage. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) using organic planting media with four treatment levels: P0 = control (no organic planting media), P1 = 85% post-tin mining soil + 15% organic growing media, P2 = 75% post-tin mining soil + 25% organic growing media, P3 = 60% post-tin mining soil + 40% organic growing media. Each treatment was replicated five times, giving a total of 20 experimental units. Data were evaluated utilizing Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) succeeded by Duncan's Test at the 5% significance level. The addition of organic growing media into post-tin mining soil influenced root biomass in groundnut plants, showing a tendency to enhance leaf count and canopy biomass, however this effect was not statistically significant. This study found no significant effect on plant height.

Abstract

Contemporary technological advances have created a significant transformation in various aspects of life, including in the management of residences and green areas through the concept of a smart home. This study aims to design and realize an automatic door control mechanism based on a microcontroller for the garden house, with a specific emphasis on the dimension of protection and operational efficiency. In this design, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Technology is functioned as a property safeguard, ensuring the door can only be opened by registered individuals. This access authorization system is integrated with the Arduino Uno microcontroller to facilitate real-time protection and control functions. Furthermore, the system is also equipped with an automatic scheduling feature to control the garden house lighting (lamps), where the lighting will automatically turn on at 18:00 (6:00 PM) and turn off at 07:00 (7:00 AM) in the morning. The implementation results demonstrate effective performance and contribute to increasing both protection and convenience for users in managing access to the garden house and achieving energy savings through lighting scheduling.

Abstract

Selada (Lactuca sativa) merupakan tanaman hortikultura yang dikonsumsi secara global, baik di iklim sub-tropis maupun tropis dan menjadi salah satu jenis tanaman sayuran yang bernilai ekonomi tinggi. Idealnya semua benih harus memiliki kekuatan tumbuh yang tinggi, sehingga bila ditanam pada kondisi lapangan yang beraneka ragam akan tetap tumbuh sehat dan kuat serta berproduksi tinggi dengan kualitas baik. Kemunduran suatu benih dapat diterangkan sebagai turunnya kualitas atau viabilitas benih yang mengakibatkan rendahnya vigor dan jeleknya pertumbuhan tanaman serta produksi. Salah satu cara untuk mempercepat perkecambahan benih adalah pemberian zat pengatur tumbuh (ZPT). Bahan alami yang dapat digunakan sebagai substitusi ZPT diantaranya adalah air kelapa. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Pertanian Presisi, Politeknik Manufaktur Negeri Bangka Belitung pada bulan Februari sampai dengan bulan Maret 2025, menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) satu faktor dengan 4 perlakuan yaitu : Akuades, Air kelapa 50%, Air kelapa 75% dan Air kelapa 100%. Variabel pengamatan yang dilakukan adalah sebagai berikut : persentase perkecambahan, indeks kecepatan perkecambahan, waktu rata-rata perkecambahan, panjang plumula, panjang radikula, berat basah dan berat kering. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa perendaman air kelapa berpengaruh terhadap perkecambahan benih selada. Pengaplikasian terbaik diperoleh pada konsentrasi 50%.
