Abstract

Parents' behavior in selecting snacks significantly influences children's snacking habits, which are positively associated with nutritional status. The nutritional status of school-age children is influenced by several factors, including their daily eating habits at home instilled by their parents and peer-snacking behavior in the school environment. This study investigated the relationship between parents' behavior in snack selection and the nutritional status of school-age children at SDN 4 Mojolangu. The research employed an analytical correlational design with 160 respondents comprising 80 parents and 80 students in grades 1-4. Additionally, weight and height measurements were taken for the students. Statistical analysis was conducted using the Sommers'D test. The results indicate a significant relationship between parents' behavior in snack selection and the nutritional status of school-age children. The analysis of the correlation between parental behavior and nutritional status (BMI-for-age) yielded a significance value of p=0.000 (r=1.000), indicating a strong positive correlation. Meanwhile, the correlation between nutritional status (Height-for-age) showed a significance value of p=0.000 (r=0.654), demonstrating a strong positive correlation.

Abstract

Abstract

Perineal wounds in postpartum mothers carry a high risk of infection, which can delay healing and increase maternal mortality rates. The use of natural ingredients such as mangosteen peel (Garcinia mangostana Linn), known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, has potential to accelerate wound healing. The goal is to find out if postpartum moms may speed up the healing of perineal wounds with a mangosteen peel decoction.  Using a one-group pre- and post-test strategy, this research used a pre-experimental design.  Fifteen women evaluated at TPMB Dhillah Shobirin Malang after giving birth and suffering from second-degree perineal lesions made up the sample. The intervention involved using mangosteen peel decoction for perineal cleansing three times daily for one week. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. Before the intervention, all respondents (100%) experienced delayed wound healing (>14 days). After the intervention, 86.7% experienced rapid healing (1–6 days) and 13.3% experienced normal healing (7–14 days). Statistical analysis showed a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference before and after the intervention. The mangosteen peel decoction is effective in accelerating perineal wound healing in postpartum mothers. This study recommends the utilization of mangosteen peel as a complementary therapy for postpartum wound care.

Abstract

The growth and development of toddlers is influenced by hereditary and environmental factors. Genetic factors, biologically have strong influences on toddlers’ growth in their early years of life. While psychologically, a good interpersonal relation of pregnant women with their families will make them more ready to undergo the pregnancy and childbirth. On the other hand, socially, the level of parental education might affect the nutrition intake and parenting patterns. For the economic factor, the level of family income and their ability to provide sufficient nutrition input might affect the nutritional status during gestation. The nutrition input during pregnancy highly contributes to the fetus growth and development. A poor nutrition input during gestation might cause an Intrauterine Growth Retardation (IUGR) and growth and development disorder. This study aimed to analyze the bio-psychosocial and economic factors of gestation period on toddler growth and development. This is a correlational analytic study with 80 mothers and toddlers as the sample. The data was analysed using univariat, bivariate with Chi square and multivariate with logistic regression. The results show that the statistically significant independent variables which influence the growth and development of toddlers are the mother height (p = 0.001), LILA (p = 0.008), family income (p = 0.007), infant birth weight (p = 0.009) and family support (p = 0.013). While the statistically insignificant independent variable is the mother level of education (p = 0.086).

Abstract

Background of the Problem: Childbirth is often something scary, especially for a woman who is pregnant for the first time (primigravida) and is about to give birth (primipara). There are several methods for physical and psychological readiness for pregnant women who will undergo labor, one of which is hypnosis. Hypnosis has been legally recognized by WHO as an alternative therapy. 5 finger hypnosis is able to provide deep relaxation, both physically, breath and mind so that in this state of deep relaxation it can activate the subconscious mind which will facilitate the creation of a relaxed atmosphere, stable, comfortable and happy emotions so that childbirth goes quickly. Objective: This study was conducted to determine the efficiency of 5 finger hypnosis on the acceleration of the first stage of labor in primigravida. Methods: The research design used a quasi-experimental design, namely using a post-test only design. The sample was 15 primigravida mothers with low risk pregnancies, the sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Bivariate data analysis, with testing using the Independent sample t-test statistical test. Results: The results of the analysis of the T-Test test with a value of Sig = 0.000 < = 0.05, this proves that there is an efficiency of the 5 finger hypnosis method on the acceleration of the first stage of labor in primigravida. 5 Finger Hypnosis works by influencing the hormone endorphins or referred to as the hormone of happiness. When the body feels relaxed and comfortable, the brain will secrete endorphins which will cause an analgesic effect so delivery is faster. Conclusion: 5 Finger Hypnosis in maternity mothers can help speed up labor by activating endorphins which are pain-relieving hormones, so this method is effective in eliminating all complaints and feelings of discomfort.
