Abstract

Digital transformation has become a key factor in the evolution of the retail industry in Indonesia, especially with the increasing adoption of technology in various business operations. This study aims to analyze the impact of digital transformation on the financial performance of retail companies in Indonesia. Using a quantitative approach, this research examines secondary data from annual reports and financial statements of 16 retail companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) for the period 2021-2023. Digital transformation is measured based on the ratio of digital intangible assets to total intangible assets, while financial performance is measured using Return on Assets (ROA). The results of a simple regression analysis indicate that digitaltransformation has a significant negative impact on ROA, with each increase in digital transformation associated with a decrease in ROA by 1.381. These findings suggest that poorly managed digital transformation implementation can hinder acompany's financial performance. According to the Resource-Based View (RBV) theory, companies with sufficient resources and capabilities can optimize the benefits of digital transformation, while those with limited resources may experience a decline in financial performance. This study provides insights for industry players on the importance of an effective digital strategy in enhancing competitiveness and operational efficiency. Therefore, retail companies need to conduct thorough planning, strengthen internal capabilities, and regularly evaluate the implementation of digital transformation to minimize its negative impact on profitability.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate how learning agility and organizational culture affect innovative work behavior among millennial employees, with work engagement serving as a mediating variable. A quantitative research design was employed, involving 150 participants selected using a quota sampling method. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with a Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach. The findings revealed that learning agility significantly contributes to innovative work behavior, both directly and indirectly through its influence on work engagement. Conversely, organizational culture does not directly impact innovative behavior, though it does influence employees' engagement at work. Furthermore, the study confirms that work engagement mediates the link between learning agility and innovative behavior, whereas no mediating effect was found between organizational culture and innovative behavior. In summary, these findings suggest that personal attributes, particularly learning capability and engagement level, play a more prominent role in shaping innovative behavior among millennials in the workplace.

Abstract

The consolidation process that emerged as a reaction to the 1997-1998 financial crisis led various banks to adopt international expansion strategies to broaden their operational reach. Evidence of globalization in the banking sector is the disappearance of boundaries, which allows foreign funds to flow in and out of a country easily. This study aims to examine the effect of the foreign banks presence on banking competition within that country. The presence of foreign banks is measured using a dummy variable and the percentage of foreign ownership. The research was using 543 conventional commercial banks sample in 10 Asian emerging market countries. Sampling was carried out using the purposive sampling method and hypothesis testing was performed using the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) robust standard error method. The results show that the presence of foreign banks has a positive effect on the level of competition in the host country. The higher the level of presence and foreign ownership, the higher the level of banking competition in that country.
