Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis fungsi dan makna warna ornamen naga yang terdapat di dalam empat Vihara di wilayah Jakarta, Bogor, dan Bekasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode kualitatif deskriptif. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui rangkaian tahapan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Proses wawancara ini dilakukan dengan pihak informan yang berasal dari 4 vihara yang dikunjungi oleh peneliti. Vihara-vihara yang dipilih sebagai subjek penelitian adalah Vihara Sian Djin Ku Poh dan Vihara Dharma Persada, yang merupakan Vihara tertua di wilayah Karawang, Vihara Dhanagun, sebagai salah satu Vihara tertua di Bogor, serta Vihara Toa Se Bio yang juga merupakan Vihara tertua di Jakarta. Dalam analisisnya, penulis memanfaatkan kerangka teori representasi untuk menganalisis fungsi, jenis, bentuk, serta warna dari ornamen naga tersebut. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ornamen naga dalam lingkup vihara atau kuil Buddha memuat makna simbolis. Fungsi dari ornamen naga dalam konteks vihara mampu bervariasi, tergantung pada lokasi penempatannya serta kekhasan budaya lokal yang melingkupinya.

Abstract

Literary works are a medium used by authors to convey ideas and concepts. Literature usually takes the form of a socially-oriented work, such as films. Films are creations that narrate the social or cultural life of a society. This research aims to determine the classification and translation strategies of cultural terms in the film "Aftershock." The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive. The approach used in this study is a case study, describing cultural terms and their translation strategies. The object of this research is the film "Aftershock." There are two theories used in this research: Newmark (1988) for cultural terms and Mona Baker (2011) for translation strategies. The data collection technique used is transcription. The results of this research include the classification of cultural term categories and the translation strategies used in translating cultural terms. The most frequently encountered cultural term category is social culture, and the most frequently encountered translation strategy is the use of more general words.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of animated videos as a medium for learning Chinese, focusing on the main challenges faced by learners, such as mastering the tonal system and Hanzi characters. The literature review was conducted by collecting and analyzing various relevant sources to evaluate the effectiveness of animated videos in improving Chinese comprehension. This research found that animated videos have great potential in facilitating complex language learning. Through clear and interactive visualizations, animated videos can help learners understand the different tones in Chinese, as well as make it easier for them to remember and write Hanzi characters. In addition, they also offer learning flexibility, allowing learners to access materials anytime and anywhere, supporting the concept of self-directed learning. This research also highlights the importance of cultural integration in animated videos, which not only teach the language, but also introduce Chinese cultural contexts related to language use. By analyzing various research studies and reports, this research provides recommendations for the development of more innovative animated videos that meet the needs of Chinese language learning. The results of this study can contribute to the development of more effective and fun learning media for Mandarin learners, especially at the beginner level.
