Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between the frequency of independent anatomy study and anatomy block exam results among undergraduate medical students. The data analysis revealed a positive and significant correlation between the two variables, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of r = 0.684, indicating a strong relationship. Furthermore, the simple linear regression analysis showed that each increase in the level of independent study frequency contributed to a 4.82-point increase in the anatomy block exam score. These findings suggest that the more frequently students engage in independent anatomy study, the more likely they are to achieve better academic outcomes in anatomy courses

Abstract

This community service aims to increase students' awareness, understanding, and skills in maintaining mental health through education and counseling programs. Student life is often filled with academic, social, and adaptable pressures to a new environment that can trigger mental health problems such as stress, anxiety, and depression. The program includes seminars, workshops, and counseling sessions held at several colleges with a focus on introducing the importance of mental health, coping techniques, and appropriate psychological support. This activity involves students' active participation in discussions, role-plays, and simulations, which helps them better understand how to manage emotions and seek help when facing problems. The evaluation of the program showed an increase in students' knowledge and skills in dealing with mental health problems, as well as an increase in the number of students willing to access counseling services. Through this activity, it is hoped that a campus environment that is more supportive of mental health and reduces the stigma of seeking professional help.

Abstract

Background Deoxyribonuclease I (DNase I) catalyzes the cleavage of double-stranded DNA into its end products. This enzyme requires cations for its activity. In addition, DNase activity is influenced by indirect DNase inhibitors (i.e. EDTA) and temperature. EDTA is an indirect DNase I inhibitor. Therefore, DNase inactivation is crucial for DNA preservation, especially for salivary samples, and the downstream application of genetic techniques using non-blood samples. Saliva is a complex mixture contaminated with oral microbes and contains DNase which is harmful for DNA preservation. This study aims to preserve salivary DNA through temperature and EDTA treatment. Methods This is an experimental study. Salivary DNA was extracted using the spin-column method. DNA degradation assays were carried out using either 5 µL of salivary supernatant or 2.5 mg/mL of DNase I which were incubated at -20°C, 2-8°C, room temperature, 40°C, and 50°C; and added with 0.125 mM, 0.25 mM, 0.5 mM, 1 mM, and 2 mM EDTA for 60 minutes. After incubation, the results were visualized using agarose gel electrophoresis. Results The average concentration of salivary DNA was 61.70 µg/mL (30.50-109.05) and the purity was 1.893 µg/mL (1.800-2.005). Incubation at -20°C, 2-8°C, and room temperature degraded salivary DNA but incubation at 40 and 50°C did not completely degrade DNA. Addition 0.125 mM, 0.25 mM, 0.5 mM, 1 mM, and 2 mM EDTA to 5 µL of salivary supernatant or 2.5 mg/mL DNase I preserved salivary DNA. Conclusions Temperature of 40 and 50°C, and 0.125 mM EDTA can inactivate DNase and preserve salivary DNA.

Abstract

Pendahuluan.

Abstract

This Article describes 3Dimention studies carried out of catalytic site  over the past year which have advanced of understanding the substrate to recognizition and how the catalytic mechanism of the several key DNAse I. The hydrolysis reaction that occurs in DNASe I is influenced by Mg 2+ and Ca 2+ but let the Binding of DNASe I ions is still unclear, the active side is found, the amount and mechanism of Ca2+ and Mg2+ . The results of the review in this article indicate that DNASe I is needed externally from experimental animals and simulations improve the binding reaction of Ca 2+ and Mg 2+ which is supported by some literature that uses crystallographic studies where Ca 2+ ions can stabilize DNASe I and also in the presence of Mg 2+ ions that can accelerate the hydrolytic failure of the cation. The results of the review explain the role of cations collectively electrostatic matching between DNASe I and DNA.
