Nila upaya penangkapan ikan pelagis kecil sebesar 135.738  trip/tahun, pelagis besar (141.895 trip/tahun), demersal (49.720)  trip/tahun. Information on estimating the potential and level of utilization of fish resources is absolutely necessary in the management of sustainable fisheries resources in Central Bangka Regency. This study aims to analyze the sustainable potential, optimum effort and level of utilization of fish resources. The study was conducted in August to December 2018. Primary data were taken using a questionnaire method with 98 respondents obtained using the Slovin formula. Secondary data were taken from the Central Bangka Fisheries Service and the Bangka Belitung Islands Province Fisheries Marine Service. The results showed the MSY value of small pelagic fish of 6,798.2 tons / year, large pelagic fish (5,682.34 tons / year) and demersal (7,296,288 tons / year). The value of small pelagic fishing effort is 135,738 trip / year, large pelagic (141,895 trip / year), demersal (49,720) trip / year. The average level of utilization in 2012-2016, small pelagic fish was 89.561%, large pelagic fish was 63.469% and demersal fish was 102.417%. The data shows the level of utilization of small and demersal pelagic fish is at an optimal point, while large pelagic fish are still below the optimal point.

Abstract

This study was conducted at PPN Sungailiat, Bangka Regency, to identify morphometric and meristic characteristics of Jebung fish (Abalistes stellaris), as well as environmentally friendly fishing gear. The research method used was descriptive with a simple random sampling technique to collect fish samples. Data were collected through observation and interviews, then analyzed using morphometric and meristic identification. The results showed that Jebung fish had 23 morphometric characters and 9 meristic characters, with an average total length of 30.5 cm and a standard length of 27 cm. Fin characteristics showed significant differences compared to other fish in the same family. In addition, the recommended fishing methods are bubu and bottom fishing to maintain the sustainability of the fish population. The conclusion of this study is that Jebung fish has distinctive morphometric and meristic characteristics, and requires an ecosystem-based management strategy to maintain its sustainability. The results of this study can serve as a basis for better fisheries resource management policies in the Bangka region.

Abstract

The sustainable management of fishery resources is critical to maintaining ecological balance and long-term economic benefits. This study aims to estimate the optimal level of exploitation of grouper (Epinephelus spp.) in the waters of Bangka Regency using a surplus production model to determine the Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY). Production and effort data from 2020 to 2024 were analyzed using a Schaefer model to derive the MSY curve. The analysis reveals that the MSY for grouper in this region is 1,577.2 tons, corresponding to an optimal fishing effort (f_opt) of 20,742 standardized trips. Notably, actual fishing efforts and production in 2022 exceeded the sustainable threshold, indicating a risk of overfishing, while efforts in 2023 and 2024 remained beyond the optimal level but with declining yields. These trends suggest the onset of growth overfishing if not addressed through adaptive management. The study concludes that current fishing practices in Bangka may surpass the sustainable capacity of grouper stocks, and immediate management interventions are recommended to regulate fishing effort in alignment with MSY estimates. This research provides scientific support for implementing evidence-based fisheries policies to ensure sustainability and resilience of marine resources in the region,

Abstract

The increase in industrial activities and motor vehicle usage has led to high emissions of hazardous gases which can negatively impact human health and the environment. Therefore, an effective and real-time gas monitoring system is needed. This study aims to design and develop a hazardous gas detection device based on the Internet of Things (IoT) capable of continuously monitoring CO₂, NOx, and HC concentrations. The system uses MQ-series gas sensors integrated with an ESP32 microcontroller as the main data processor, along with an IoT platform to display measurement results online through a dashboard. The collected data can be accessed in real time via the internet, allowing users to monitor remotely. Testing results show that the device can detect gas concentration changes with good accuracy and fast  response time. This tool is expected to assist in early detection of air pollution and raise awareness of the importance of healthy air quality.

Abstract

The waters of Belitung Island are tropical waters that play a crucial role in supporting the global ecosystem balance through primary productivity, which can be measured using chlorophyll a concentration as an indicator of water fertility. The strategic geographical location of Belitung Island, situated on the border of the Karimata Strait, the Java Sea, and the South China Sea, makes it vulnerable to the constantly changing oceanographic dynamics. This study aims to analyze the spatial-temporal distribution and fluctuations of chlorophyll a in the waters of Belitung Island based on Aqua-MODIS satellite imagery from January to December 2024. Chlorophyll-a data were extracted from Aqua-MODIS satellite imagery using the OCx and CI algorithms, then analyzed using the Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) interpolation method through ArcGIS and SeaDAS software. The research results show that the waters of Belitung Island are generally classified as oligotrophic, with an average chlorophyll a concentration ranging from 0.39 to 0.81 mg/m³. The lowest concentration at the April location point was 0.08 mg/m³, and the lowest average was in May (0.39 mg/m³), coinciding with the first transition season due to reduced upwelling and water stratification. Conversely, the highest concentration was detected at the May location point (5.14 mg/m³), and the highest average was observed in June (0.81 mg/m³), when the southeast monsoon triggered increased winds and upwelling, bringing nutrients from the lower layers to the surface. This research demonstrates that monsoon variability and local oceanographic processes have a significant influence on water fertility in Belitung Island and can be utilized in predicting potential fishing areas.
