Abstract

Industri pembenihan udang di Indonesia mengalami pertumbuhan, yang menyebabkan peningkatan permintaan akan pakan alami. Untuk meningkatkan tingkat kelangsungan hidup udang dari zoea hingga tahap mysis, pakan Chaetoceros sp., yang dipupuk secara alami dan diperkaya dengan cairan rumen, dapat digunakan. Cairan rumen adalah zat limbah kaya protein dengan kandungan vitamin B kompleks, yang cocok untuk pakan larva udang vannamei. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan dosis optimal Chaetoceros sp. yang dipupuk dengan cairan rumen untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup larva udang vannamei dari tahap zoea ke mysis. Penelitian ini menguji lima perlakuan pakan yang berbeda, termasuk kontrol, menggunakan air laut steril dan wadah plastik yang diaerasi. Hasilnya mengindikasikan bahwa cairan rumen dapat meningkatkan nilai gizi pakan, mendukung perkembangan dan kelangsungan hidup larva udang yang lebih baik. Tingkat kelangsungan hidup tertinggi diamati pada perlakuan C (16 ml/wadah) sebesar 83%, diikuti oleh perlakuan B (12 ml/wadah) sebesar 77%. Kematian pada perlakuan lainnya disebabkan oleh cairan rumen yang tidak mencukupi, persaingan makanan, stres, dan proses molting. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa berbagai dosis Chaetoceros sp. yang dipupuk dengan cairan rumen berpengaruh signifikan terhadap tingkat kelangsungan hidup larva udang vannamei. Kesimpulannya, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa pemberian Chaetoceros sp. yang dipupuk dengan cairan rumen pada berbagai dosis sangat mempengaruhi kelangsungan hidup dan perkembangan larva udang vannamei dari tahap zoea ke mysis.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of adding fermented raintree (Samanea saman) seed meal to the feed on the protein efficiency ratio and growth rate of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). The study uses a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments with 3 replications. Data analysis was performed using ANOVA (analysis of variance) at a 5% significance level, followed by Duncan's test. Treatment A: non-fermented raintree seed meal (control), Treatment B: raintree seed flour fermented with 4 mL/100g of yoghurt, Treatment C: raintree seed meal fermented with 6 mL/kg of yoghurt, Treatment D: raintree seed meal fermented with 8 mL/kg of yoghurt, and Treatment E: raintree seed meal fermented with 10 mL/kg of yoghurt. The main parameters observed were protein efficiency ratio and daily growth rate in length and weight. The study results indicated that the addition of fermented raintree seed meal in the feed showed a better protein efficiency ratio and daily growth rate in length and weight compared to the treatment without the addition of fermented raintree seed flour in the feed. The best protein efficiency ratio and daily growth rate in length and weight were obtained with the addition of 4 mL/kg of fermented raintree seed meal in the feed of Nile tilapia (O. niloticus).Keywords: Fermentation; Oreochromis niloticus; Protein efficienci ratio; Samanea saman; Yoghurt

Abstract

Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) is a high-value aquaculture species, but cannibalism during the juvenile stage remains a major constraint. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of moringa (Moringa oleifera) leaf extract supplementation in feed on cannibalism rate, growth performance, and survival of Asian seabass juveniles. A completely randomized design (CRD) was applied with four treatments and three replications: control (A) and moringa extract at concentrations of 1:10 (B), 1:15 (C), and 1:20 g/mL (D). The results showed that moringa leaf extract supplementation had no significant effect (p > 0.05) on cannibalism rate and survival. However, a trend of reduced cannibalism and improved growth performance was observed, particularly in treatment B (1:10 g/mL), which produced the highest growth. In conclusion, moringa leaf extract shows potential as a functional feed additive, although further studies with improved experimental design and additional parameters are required to confirm its effectiveness.
