Abstract

Public literacy regarding health rights remains low, especially in communities with limited access to legal and health-related information. This lack of understanding often leads to unfulfilled rights and unequal access to quality healthcare services, contributing to a cycle of inequity and poor health outcomes. In response to this issue, this community service program seeks to enhance public awareness of health rights through interdisciplinary education, combining the expertise of lecturers from legal and health sciences. The program’s activities include the development of educational modules designed to provide clear, accessible information about health rights, as well as interactive legal-health counseling sessions aimed at addressing specific concerns. Group discussions serve as a platform for individuals to engage with experts and peers, furthering their understanding of how to navigate healthcare systems and advocate for their rights. Additionally, printed materials are distributed to reinforce learning and serve as ongoing references for participants. The program targets communities with high needs for health literacy, focusing on empowering individuals to recognize their rights and take action to ensure their healthcare needs are met. It also encourages the collaboration of interdisciplinary academic staff, fostering a collective approach to community empowerment. By improving health literacy, the program aims to promote social equity and improve access to quality healthcare services for underserved populations. Through this initiative, participants are better equipped to make informed decisions regarding their health and advocate for fair treatment in the healthcare system.

Abstract

Education plays a fundamental role in shaping the quality of human resources and determining national progress. However, many young people still lack awareness and motivation regarding the importance of education due to limited access to information, socioeconomic challenges, and insufficient understanding of its long-term benefits. This Community Service Program aims to increase young people’s awareness of the importance of education through collaboration among multiple universities. The program involved lecturers and students from various higher education institutions who conducted educational outreach activities, motivational seminars, interactive discussions, and mentoring sessions. Methods used included educational counseling, inspirational presentations, question-and-answer sessions, and participant evaluations. The results show an improvement in participants’ understanding, motivation, and awareness of education as an investment in the future. In addition, inter-university collaboration expanded the program’s reach, enriched perspectives shared with participants, and strengthened higher education institutions’ commitment to community engagement. This initiative demonstrates that cross-university synergy can serve as an effective and sustainable model for fostering educational awareness and supporting the development of future generations in diverse communities.

Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by decreased insulin production or decreased sensitivity of body cells to insulin. As a result, blood glucose levels increase significantly and can lead to various serious complications if not properly managed. Management of T2DM requires a multidisciplinary approach, one of which is proper dietary management. A controlled diet plays a crucial role in maintaining stable blood sugar levels, preventing complications, and improving the patient's quality of life. Therefore, patient understanding of a special diabetes diet is crucial. A good understanding of dietary principles will help patients choose the right types and amounts of food to avoid triggering blood glucose spikes. Furthermore, continuous nutrition education also plays a crucial role in developing healthy eating habits in T2DM patients. This study aims to analyze the relationship between patient knowledge about diabetes diets and blood sugar control in T2DM patients. The research method used was a quantitative approach with a correlational and cross-sectional design. A total of 40 respondents were selected using consecutive sampling. The independent variable in this study was the level of knowledge of diabetes diets, while the dependent variable was blood glucose control. Data were collected through questionnaires and observation sheets. Univariate analysis was used to describe respondent characteristics, while bivariate analysis using the Spearman Rank test was used to examine the relationship between variables. The test results showed a significance value of p = 0.0002, indicating a significant relationship between dietary knowledge and blood sugar control in people with T2DM.
