Abstract

In order to complete this research, this article is explained about the amounts of domestic tourists who is arrived into a region and also between any regions in Indonesia. Through the time series data method as well as the concept of error correction model (ECM), even in the short term, long term, or equilibrium at each timeline, the number of these variables have been tested. Based on the results of short-term tests, lots of information could be categorized as the few factors which is affected the amounts of domestic tourist arrival into a region, such as national income, quality of education, and also the lifestyle. Besides, lots of thing that could be categorized as the few factors which is affected the amounts of domestic tourist arrival between few regions are about the exchange variable and inflation rate. But if we talked about the results of long-term test which still about the amounts of domestic tourists between few regions, the affected factor is only about national income without anything related to other problems such as quality of education or lifestyle as well. As an addition, the analysis of ECT concept also gave some results about an equilibrium per each period of domestic tourist arrival into a region and also between few regions, it was at 1,23% and 0,95%. Furthermore, on the long-term equilibrium, there was no balance at all, both in cases of tourist arrival into a region and between regions.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and understand the determinants of inequality in economic development between provinces in Indonesia. The analysis is carried out by first calculating the Williamson Index as an indicator of inequality in economic development between regions. They used economic and social variables, including the human development index, road infrastructure, and foreign investment. This research method uses a statistical panel data approach with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) model. This study explains that the human development index partially has a significant negative effect on inequality between regions. Road infrastructure and foreign investment have a significant positive impact on inequality between regions. Simultaneously, the human development index, road infrastructure, and foreign investment significantly affect economic development inequality between regions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the convergence process of educational outcomes in Indonesia and determine the role of government budget allocation in accelerating convergence by observing all regions from 2010-2019. According to the results of the σ-convergence analysis, it is found that the dispersion explains the convergence process of the educational index gap. Then confirmed by the results of conditional β-convergence analysis by the System-GMM model, it was found that the convergence speed was relatively slow. This is a consequence of the role of government budget management which has not been optimal. In terms of regional revenues, it is found that the specific purpose transfer and the general purpose transfer have a significant negative effect on the convergence of the education index. Then from the expenditure side, it is known that direct expenditure has a significant positive effect on convergence, while indirect expenditure is not significant. Thus, this evidence opens up opportunities for the educational index to become a separate dimension in determining purpose transfer to the regions to accelerate the convergence of educational outcomes.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Regional autonomy has been implemented for more than two decades, but local governments can still not manage their local finances independently. Problems that occur in the implementation of regional autonomy can occur from within and outside the country. Domestic conditions indicate that people want openness and independence, while foreign conditions indicate that the increasing progress of globalization demands the competitiveness of each country, including the competitiveness of local governments. Methods: This study uses panel data consisting of time series data from 2018 - 2022 and cross-section data on 140 districts in Indonesia that have primary leading sectors. The analysis method is the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) method with the System Generalized Method of Moments approach to address endogeneity problems and dynamic economic correlations. Findings: The results of this study indicate that the primary output variable and tax ratio have a positive and significant effect on regional financial independence. In contrast, natural resource revenue-sharing funds and general allocation funds have a negative and significant effect. Meanwhile, the special allocation fund variable does not affect regional financial independence. Conclusion: This study concludes that enhancing primary output and optimizing tax ratios are crucial for improving regional financial independence. However, reliance on revenue-sharing funds and general allocation funds can hinder financial autonomy. Policy implications suggest the need for local governments to strengthen their economic base and reduce dependency on central government transfers to achieve greater fiscal independence. Novelty/Originality of this Article: This study provides a novel approach to analyzing regional financial independence by utilizing the System Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) to address dynamic economic correlations and endogeneity issues.

Abstract

Research Originality —  This study contributes to the discourse on fiscal decentralization by examining the impact of Law Number 1 of 2022 on Intergovernmental Financial Relations (UU HKPD) and the Transfer to Local Government (TKD) mechanism in Indonesia. Unlike previous studies, this research provides a comparative analysis of vertical fiscal imbalances (VFI) and horizontal fiscal imbalances (HFI) before and after the enactment of the HKPD Law, with a specific focus on local governments in Java.  Research Objectives —  The primary objective of this study is to analyze the extent and trends of VFI and HFI      resulting from fiscal policy, particularly through the TKD mechanism, both before and after the implementation of the HKPD Law. It further assesses the effectiveness of Revenue Sharing Funds (DBH) and the General Allocation Fund (DAU) in mitigating fiscal disparities at the regional level.  Research Methods —  This study employs quantitative analysis, utilizing the Williamson Index, Theil Index, and Standard Deviation to measure fiscal imbalances. The research dataset consists of local government financial reports covering the period of 2018–2023.  Empirical Results —  The findings indicate that VFI between the central and regional governments declined following the implementation of the HKPD Law, as evidenced by improved DBH allocations. Meanwhile, HFI      initially increased but exhibited a downward trend in the post-HKPD period, with DAU playing a crucial role in reducing disparities among local governments. However, fiscal imbalances persist due to Indonesia’s expenditure assignment principle, which grants local governments autonomy over expenditures while limiting their ability to generate revenue effectively.  Implications —  The study confirms that the TKD policy under the HKPD  Law has effectively reduced fiscal imbalances but remains insufficient to fully eliminate them due to structural constraints in local revenue generation. Policymakers should focus on strengthening local taxing power, optimizing regional revenue potential, and improving fiscal administration to enhance fiscal autonomy. Future research should consider longer timeframes and broader geographical coverage to evaluate comprehensively fiscal decentralization policies.

Abstract

Research aims: This study aims to examine the influence of Islamic lifestyle, halal certification, and social media exposure on purchasing decisions at Mixue outlets in Serang City. Design/Methodology/Approach: The research used a quantitative approach with survey data collected from 190 respondents. Multiple linear regression analysis was applied using SPSS 26. Prior to hypothesis testing, classical assumption tests including normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity were conducted to ensure data validity. Research findings: The results showed that Islamic lifestyle, halal certification, and social media exposure each had a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions. The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.503, indicating that 50.3% of the variation in purchasing decisions could be explained by the three independent variables. The remaining 49.7% was influenced by other factors outside the model. Theoretical Contribution/Originality: This research contributes to the understanding of consumer behavior in the context of halal and Islamic marketing, especially within the growing market segment of Muslim consumers in non-traditional halal industries such as ice cream chains. It highlights the integration of religious values and digital influence in shaping consumer preferences. Practitioners/Policy Implications: The findings suggest that food and beverage companies targeting Muslim consumers should not only focus on halal certification but also promote Islamic lifestyle compatibility and engage actively on social media platforms to enhance purchasing behavior. These insights are valuable for marketing strategists and brand managers operating in multicultural environments. Research Limitations/Implications: The study is limited to Mixue outlets in Serang City, which may not fully represent broader consumer behavior across different regions. Future research should involve comparative studies across cities or include moderating variables such as income or education level for more nuanced insights.
