Abstract

Lifelong education is a crucial concept in building an adaptive, competent, and character-driven society. Islamic educational thought, which emphasizes holistic human development, can serve as a strong foundation for the implementation of this concept. This study aims to analyze literature related to developmental stages, learning strategies, and Islamic educational practices that support the principles of lifelong education. The method used is a descriptive-analytical literature study, which reviews various primary and secondary sources in the form of books, journals, and scientific articles from the period 2010–2025. The results of the analysis indicate that Islamic educational thought emphasizes continuous education, starting from family education, school education, and community education, with a focus on the formation of morals, knowledge, and skills. The learning strategies developed include the tahfidz method, moral value habituation, a thematic approach, and information technology integration, all of which are aimed at building lifelong competencies. The discussion emphasizes the relevance of Islamic educational principles in the modern context, particularly in facing the challenges of globalization, scientific developments, and the need for 21st-century skills. This study reinforces the view that Islamic education is not solely oriented toward mastery of material, but also shapes individual character and capacity for lifelong learning. The practical implications of this research demonstrate the need to integrate Islamic educational values into both formal and non-formal curricula as a strategy for building a sustainable learning society.

Abstract

Character education is an important foundation in shaping students with noble character, responsibility, and integrity. In the context of Islamic education, the Qur'an plays a central role as a source of values, norms, and relevant life guidelines that can be used as a basis for character learning strategies. This article aims to systematically review various research findings related to Qur'an-based learning strategies as a foundation for character education. The method used is a literature study by reviewing national and international journal articles, scientific books, and relevant academic sources from the past ten years. The results of the study indicate that the integration of Qur'anic values in learning can strengthen students' religious character, honesty, discipline, responsibility, and empathy. Effective strategies include teacher role models, habituation based on Qur'anic verses, contextual learning, reflection on values, and integration of the Qur'an in all subjects. Qur'an-based learning functions not only as a transmission of knowledge, but also as a means of internalizing values and forming attitudes. Thus, Qur'an-based learning strategies can be a comprehensive approach to strengthening character education in schools. This article is expected to serve as a conceptual reference for educators in designing learning oriented toward holistic character development of students.

Abstract

This research aims to examine innovation and evaluation of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum to support future educational development. The method used is a literature review, analyzing various scientific sources, including national and international journals, books, and recent research reports relevant to the topic. The study results indicate that PAI curriculum innovation needs to be oriented towards developing 21st-century competencies, integrating digital technology, and strengthening students' character and spiritual values. Furthermore, PAI curriculum evaluation should not only focus on cognitive aspects but also encompass affective and psychomotor aspects holistically. Other findings indicate that effective curriculum implementation requires the active role of teachers as learning innovators, support from educational policies, and the use of contextual learning media based on local wisdom. Curriculum evaluation also needs to be conducted continuously, using formative and summative approaches to ensure its relevance and effectiveness. Therefore, PAI curriculum innovation and evaluation are key to creating an education system that is adaptive, relevant, and able to meet future challenges. This research is expected to contribute to the development of a more progressive PAI curriculum oriented towards student needs in the era of globalization.
