Abstract

Although the concept of divinity in various religions has been widely studied, research that specifically examines the implications of differing concepts of God for the Islamic worldview as articulated by the ulama salaf and the guidance of the Companions remains limited. This study aims to describe the concept of divinity in major religions, elucidate the fundamental principles of the Islamic worldview, and analyze how these theological differences influence the theological, social, epistemological, and moral dimensions of Islam. Using a qualitative approach with a library research design, data were obtained through the documentation of diverse literature and analyzed using a descriptive-analytical method. The findings indicate that differences in the concept of divinity between Islam and other religions significantly shape an Islamic worldview that is centered on tauhid, positions revelation as the primary source of truth, and directs the orientation of life toward the Hereafter. These results enrich the theoretical development of the Islamic worldview and yield practical implications for education, the strengthening of Islamic creed, and the enhancement of religious literacy amid pluralism and modernity. Furthermore, the study opens avenues for further research on the application of the Islamic worldview in responding to global challenges and advances in scientific knowledge.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited number of works that specifically examine the multidimensional influence of kyai leadership in pesantren, despite the extensive literature on leadership in Islamic educational institutions more broadly. It aims to analyze the role of kyai leadership in shaping educational processes, institutional management, and the spiritual–moral character development of santri within the pesantren environment. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, involving 12 informants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, and subsequently examined using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that kyai leadership is manifested in four main dimensions: spiritual leadership, moral guidance, institutional decision-making, and social–community relations. The kyai functions as a spiritual mentor, moral exemplar, strategic leader, and social mediator between the pesantren and the wider community. These results contribute to the development of Islamic leadership theory and deepen understanding of pesantren governance. The study concludes that integrative kyai leadership is crucial in determining the identity, sustainability, and educational effectiveness of pesantren. The recommendations include strengthening leadership regeneration, enhancing managerial capacity, and building collaborative networks, while future research may explore the transformation of leadership in modern pesantren and the adaptation of traditional authority within contemporary educational contexts.

Abstract

Developments in digital technology, particularly the use of gadgets, present both challenges and opportunities for Islamic educational institutions, including pesantren tahfidz of Al-Qur’an, because on the one hand they can support learning processes and access to knowledge, while on the other they may generate distractions, weaken the adab of knowledge seekers, and disrupt the quality of Al-Qur’an memorization. This study aimed to examine the use of gadgets among Al-Qur’an memorizers at Pondok Pesantren Tahfidz Al Atsar Yogyakarta from the perspective of the axiology of Islamic education. It employed a qualitative approach with a philosophical-normative paradigm and a case study strategy, with data obtained through interviews with the pesantren leader, ustadz of tahfidz, and santri, observations of student activities, and documentation studies of pesantren regulations. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis within the framework of the axiology of Islamic education, the concept of adab of knowledge seekers, and the principles of maslahah and mafsadah in the use of technology. The findings show that gadgets are understood as neutral tools that acquire value when used in accordance with the educational goals of tahfidz, while gadget restriction policies are based on considerations of public benefit, the preservation of adab, discipline, and the quality of students’ memorization. Controlled gadget use helps maintain learning focus and the quality of Al-Qur’an memorization, whereas unregulated use potentially generates negative impacts. This study underscores the importance of an axiological approach to managing digital technology in Islamic educational institutions so that its utilization remains aligned with the values and objectives of Al-Qur’an memorization education.

Abstract

This study is grounded in the gap between the ideal of Islamic education and the reality of Indonesia’s national education system, which remains dichotomous between religious and general sciences, resulting in suboptimal integration of Islamic values into national education. The study aimed to analyze the philosophical foundations of Mohammad Natsir’s thought on Islamic education, particularly the concept of tauhid, the integration of iman (faith) and knowledge, and their implications for strengthening the orientation of national education. The method employed was a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) by analyzing relevant primary and secondary literature, including books, journal articles, and scholarly works on the philosophy of Islamic education, Natsir’s thought, and national education policy. The findings indicate that Natsir’s educational thought has strong relevance for reconstructing a national education system that is religious, humanistic, and rooted in Indonesian identity through the integration of iman, knowledge, and amal (action) as the philosophical foundation of education. The study concludes that an Islamic education paradigm based on tauhid and the integration of iman–ilmu–amal can serve as a strategic reference for strengthening a holistic orientation of national education and offers conceptual implications for the development of educational policies and practices that avoid the dichotomy between religious and general sciences.
