Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the physical quality of youth pencak silat athletes in terms of speed, power and strength. The sample of this study was athletes Pencak silat category of young male and female numbered 40 people consisting of 20 male and 20 female. Sampling techniques use purposive samples because it considers the characteristics of age and gender. The quasi-experimental method with the quantitative approach used in this research, The constellation of this research is pretest-posttest one group design. Data analysis techniques use descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Descriptive analysis aims to describe the characteristics of this research while inferential analysis using paired one sample test at a significant level ?= 0.05, overall data analysis used is SPSS program version 20.0. The results of this study showed that the quality of physical condition of athletes in the youth competition category is reviewed from speed, power, and strength in the good category. However, in this study, the need to further identify anthropometrics, and psychology athletes to determine the achievements of adolescent martial arts match categories according to gender characteristics.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the challenges faced by Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) teachers and the strategies implemented in teaching tennis at SD Global Surya Islamic School Bandar Lampung SD Global Surya Islamic School Bandar Lampung. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The research subjects included the PJOK teacher and students from grades IV to VI. Data analysis involved data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results revealed several key obstacles in tennis instruction, including limited facilities and equipment, students' lack of prior knowledge of basic tennis techniques, restricted instructional time, and the absence of specialized training for teachers in tennis instruction at the elementary level. Despite these challenges, the PJOK teacher applied various adaptive strategies such as modifying learning tools, implementing simplified game-based activities, using demonstration and repetitive practice methods, applying small group learning, and collaborating with parents and the school committee. These strategies reflect the teacher’s creativity in delivering engaging and contextualized lessons despite constrained conditions. This study contributes to the development of effective teaching models for physical education, particularly in teaching tennis in elementary schools with limited resources. The findings are expected to inform schools and policymakers in designing support programs that enhance physical education through practical and innovative approaches.

Abstract

Body composition is a key indicator in assessing an individual's fitness level and health status. This study examines the effects of pyramid resistance training and 5 mg of creatine monohydrate supplementation on body composition measures, including body weight, BMI, body fat percentage, and muscle mass percentage. The population in this study consisted of males aged 20 to 25 years who actively participated in training programs at a fitness center in Region X. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with pretest and posttest measurements. Body composition was measured using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). All data were analyzed in SPSS version 27.0.1.0 using paired-samples t-tests with a significance level of 0.05. The results show a statistically significant change (p < .001) in all variables after the intervention, body weight increased by an average of 1.98000 kg, BMI showed an average increase of 0.70667, body fat percentage decreased by an average of -1.87333%, and muscle mass percentage increased by an average of 1.25333%. These findings suggest that combining the pyramid resistance training method with creatine monohydrate supplementation may have a positive impact on body composition

Abstract

Pencak silat is the dominant sport using the feet and hands. Kicks in pencak silat require speed to produce points, the faster the kick is made, the more difficult it will be to stop, fend off, or catch. This study aims to describe the difference in front kick speed between two male and female athletes of the Indonesian national team who are the 2022 pencak silat world champions. The research method used in quantitative descriptive research with the subjects of 2022 world champion pencak silat athletes in male and female numbers. This research instrument uses a Fujifilm XT 4 camera with camera placement at a distance of 5 meters from the arena. The video results were analyzed using Kinovea 0.9.4 software by calculating the speed of the subject's Front Kicks. The male sample produced an average speed of 3.25 m/s with an average breakdown of a 1.82-meter kick distance and an average travel time of 0.56 seconds. The female sample produced an average speed of 2.71 m/s with details of an average 1.90-meter kick distance and an average travel time of 0.70 seconds. Future research is expected to examine kinematic parameters in other techniques in pencak silat so that they know more about things that can support the performance of pencak silat athletes.
