Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the Papua Bintang Mountains Regency Regional Government scholarship program for students at Satya Wacana Christian University using the Goal Oriented Evaluation Model (Tyler). The research approach uses mixed methods. The research subjects were star mountains students, managers and assistants of the scholarship program. The research sample was 50 student respondents who received scholarships. Qualitative data analysis techniques: interviews, document studies and observations, and questionnaires. Qualitative data analysis techniques include: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Quantitative data analysis techniques use percentages and categories. The results of the research from 7 (stages) can be concluded: The formulation of objectives includes general objectives and specific objectives, general objectives include: improving the quality of human resources for regional sons and daughters and after graduating they will return to develop their region, measured after students graduate, and specific objectives include: academic achievement in the form of Index Cumulative Achievement in 2022/2023 with an average of 2.25. the ability to build academic cultural character in the sufficient category, the ability to build self-confidence with sufficient hatred, and the ability to adapt in the high category. This shows that the achievement of goals has increased after 3 years of college students.

Abstract

This research focuses on efforts to strengthen students' scientific literacy through the integration of areca nut ethnoscience in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning in elementary schools. Areca nut culture (Areca Catechu) is a crucial part of the lives of the Papuan people and has great potential as a contextual and meaningful learning resource in science learning. Implementing an ethnoscience approach through the use of areca palm plants can bridge scientific concepts with local cultural practices so that students do not feel strange during the learning process. Students can visually understand the function of plant organs and know areca nut as a biotic component (living creature) which has an essential role in the ecosystem. The research method used is descriptive qualitative through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the research show that the use of areca palm plants in the science and science learning process has succeeded in strengthening students' understanding of the concept of biodiversity, the structure and function of plant organs, and the reciprocal relationship between humans and the environment. Cultural integration in learning also strengthens students' identity and fosters a sense of pride in local Papuan wisdom. This research concludes that the integration of areca nut ethnoscience in science and science learning is effective as a strategy to strengthen local culture-based scientific literacy.

Abstract

Noken is a cultural heritage of the Indigenous Papuan People (OAP) that holds strong social, cultural, and symbolic meaning. Amidst the currents of globalization and modernization in Jayapura City, the existence of noken faces challenges in the form of lifestyle changes, penetration of industrial products, and shifts in cultural values. This study aims to analyze how noken survives as an OAP identity in urban spaces, as well as the adaptation strategies undertaken by Papuans in maintaining the meaning and function of noken. The study used a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The results show that noken functions not only as a tool, but also as a symbol of identity, ethnic pride, and a medium for cultural negotiation amidst globalization. The sustainability of noken is supported by the role of Papuan women, cultural policies, and innovations in design and marketing.

Abstract

Kota Jayapura merupakan wilayah dengan tingkat keberagaman etnis, suku, agama, dan budaya yang tinggi. Dalam kehidupan mahasiswa, khususnya yang tinggal di asrama, keberagaman menjadi potensi untuk membangun kebersamaan, tetapi juga dapat memunculkan kesalahpahaman, stereotip, pengelompokan berdasarkan identitas etnis, dan terbatasnya interaksi positif antarmahasiswa. Kondisi tersebut melatarbelakangi kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat bertema “Membangun Toleransi dan Solidaritas Antaretnis di Kota Jayapura” yang dilaksanakan pada 8 November 2025 bagi mahasiswa Asrama Kabupaten Mimika di Kota Jayapura. Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesadaran mahasiswa tentang pentingnya toleransi, penghargaan terhadap perbedaan, serta penguatan solidaritas dalam kehidupan bersama. Sasaran kegiatan adalah mahasiswa Asrama Kabupaten Mimika yang memiliki latar belakang suku, budaya, dan pengalaman sosial yang beragam. Pelaksanaan kegiatan menggunakan metode sosialisasi, penyampaian materi, diskusi interaktif, dialog bersama, dan refleksi pengalaman mahasiswa dalam membangun hubungan sosial serta menghadapi perbedaan. Materi mencakup keberagaman, toleransi, solidaritas sosial, komunikasi antaretnis, serta pentingnya kerja sama dan persaudaraan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan meningkatnya pemahaman dan kesadaran peserta mengenai pentingnya menjaga hubungan harmonis, saling menghargai, dan memperkuat kebersamaan. Hal tersebut terlihat melalui partisipasi aktif dalam diskusi, keterbukaan menyampaikan pengalaman, dan komitmen bersama menciptakan lingkungan asrama yang inklusif dan kondusif. Kegiatan ini bermanfaat dalam memperkuat toleransi, solidaritas, dan persaudaraan antaretnis serta berpotensi dilanjutkan melalui dialog rutin, kegiatan kolaboratif, dan pendampingan berkelanjutan.
