Abstract

The background of this study is the lack of innovative and environmentally friendly learning media in the biology learning process, especially in explaining abstract concepts such as the human circulatory system. The development of this teaching aid utilizes inorganic waste such as plastic bottles, wood or plywood, cardboard, and used hoses that are easily found in the surrounding environment, thus supporting the principles of environment-based learning and student creativity. This study aims to develop waste-based biology learning aids used in the material on the human circulatory system at SMA Negeri 1 Sipirok. Research and development or known as Research and Development (R&D). The development model used is the ADDIE model (Analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation). which is modified into several stages, namely: potential and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, design revision, product trial, and final revision. Validity tests are carried out by material experts and media experts, while feasibility tests are carried out through observation and questionnaires of teachers and grade XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Sipirok. The results of the study indicate that this waste-based teaching aid is very suitable for use as a learning medium with a feasibility percentage by material experts of 80% and by media experts of 90%. In addition, the responses of students and teachers to the use of this teaching aid are very positive with an average score above 90.62%. This tool not only helps students understand the concept of blood circulation visually and practically, but also instills awareness of the importance of waste management and creativity in creating useful learning media. Thus, the development of this waste-based biology learning aid can be an innovative and educational solution in improving the quality of biology learning in secondary schools

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of integrating Islamic religious values in science learning so that students are not only intellectually intelligent but also have a religious character. The focus of this research is on the implementation of Islamic values in Biology learning, especially the material on evolution which is often considered contrary to the teachings of creation in Islam. The purpose of this study is to describe the Islamic values that can be integrated and how they are applied in the learning process in grade XII of SMA Negeri 1 Panyabungan Mandailing Natal. The research used a descriptive qualitative method with observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The results showed that teachers have successfully integrated Islamic values such as monotheism, gratitude, scientific honesty, and responsibility through reflective discussions, scientific inquiry methods, and learning media that display verses from the Qur'an. This integration makes learning more meaningful because it fosters an understanding that science and religion can work together and strengthens students' faith in the greatness of Allah SWT's creation. Thus, it is recommended that teachers continue to develop learning strategies that are able to integrate science and Islamic values to create a complete learning with an Islamic character.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan metakognitif siswa dalam pembelajaran biologi, khususnya pada materi sistem pencernaan. Rendahnya kemampuan tersebut disebabkan oleh penggunaan metode pembelajaran yang masih bersifat konvensional sehingga siswa kurang aktif dalam merencanakan, memantau, dan mengevaluasi proses belajarnya. Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan metakognitif siswa adalah dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran Modified Free Inquiry. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Modified Free Inquiry terhadap kemampuan metakognitif siswa pada materi sistem pencernaan di kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Tukka. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa tes kemampuan metakognitif yang telah divalidasi. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas kelas eksperimen yang diberi perlakuan menggunakan model pembelajaran Modified Free Inquiry dan kelas kontrol yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Data penelitian dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji hipotesis dengan uji-t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan model pembelajaran Modified Free Inquiry terhadap kemampuan metakognitif siswa pada materi sistem pencernaan. Hal ini dibuktikan dari hasil uji hipotesis yang menunjukkan bahwa nilai thitung lebih besar daripada ttabel, yaitu 2,103 > 1,669. Dengan demikian, H₀ ditolak dan Hₐ diterima. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran Modified Free Inquiry mampu meningkatkan kemampuan metakognitif siswa melalui keterlibatan aktif dalam proses penyelidikan, pemecahan masalah, serta pengembangan kemampuan berpikir secara mandiri.
